So...if not this...what IS Capcom working on? Another Resident Evil? I'm sure they wouldn't let a little think like Wesker really being dead stop them from making more...

Is it bad that Capcom has become so stagnant I only remember Vs Games, Resident Evil and Megaman off the top of my head? How the mighty have fallen...though it seems more by shooting themselves in the foot...

It was for the 3ds...no loss there. Now maybe down the road they will make a proper one for a real console.

They also killed any interest I had in buying any future Capcom games.

First-hand, anyway. I need to find some used copies of Okamiden and Ghost Trick.

I literly feel like crying a bit :(

I loved MML 1&2 when I was a kid, so I had gran hopes for this game and re-live those moments.
Now its just empty :(

MMX is done, MML is canceled, MMZ is done, my favorite MM Battle Network has ended and so far no more StarForce releases.

So what is their to hope for, for the Megaman Series?

Anyone else feel this way?

The Ghost Trick devs really deserve the sales though, kinda sucks...

This isn't the time to be calling out the 3DS on lack of games because they are rectifying that quickly.

This is the time to be calling out Capcom on lack of good Megaman games that aren't just "nostalgic" (fanboy bait) games like the recent Megaman 9 and 10. This will have been the second seemingly good Megaman title to be cancelled by Capcom in recent memory, the first being Megaman Universe if I remember the name correctly. What other Megaman games are we seeing in the future?

I guess what I'm getting at is, what will Capcom do with Megaman next or are they getting to the point of basically abandoning the franchise?

This is a low blow to me, though I haven't got a 3DS yet, my only reason to ever have it was P. Layton vs P. Wright and ML/RD3... This isn't the best year for Capcom it seems...

I'm VERY disappointed in you, Capcom. I mean, what other Mega Man games is coming out in the future?
At this point... there is no Megaman games. And I predict that there will never be another Megaman game, save for maybe a (classic) Megaman game, made just like MM9 & 10, and trying to ride on the wings of nostalgia.

And since the guy who basically birthed the Megaman series left Capcom... well, the only hope I would see is if Capcom decides to sell the Megaman name and franchise (America's debt crisis will be solved well before that happens) to someone else.

So... The Megaman franchise is dead... and there is nothing I can think of to take its place...

I'm officially done with Capcom. Not just for MML3 being canceled. A lot of reasons, up to and including:

- Charging almost $20 for on-disc costumes in Street Fighter IV
- Charging $5 for on-disc friendly-fire in Resident Evil 5's "Versus" mode
- Charging for difficulty modes in Mega Man 9
- Excessively restrictive DRM in PC version of Super Street Fighter IV on PC
- Canceling Mega Man Universe out of spite for Keiji Inafune's departure
- Claiming "Super Street Fighter IV" was the last and final version of SF4.... then releasing Super Street Fighter IV: AE less than a year later.
- Inafune confessing Capcom's policy is to milk franchises and stifle creativity (he had to cheat the system to make Dead Rising and Lost Planet)
- Charging fans of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for on-disc costumes and characters
- Re-releasing Dead Rising 2 with a different protagonist and claiming its a brand new, full-priced game.
- Saying they would make a new Darkstalkers if they received 100,000 requests for it. They did. They then said, "sorry, we meant 1,000,000 personal requests for it."
- Implementing "forever saves" in RE: Mercenaries to kill the second-hand market value
- Threatening to cancel Mega Man Legends 3 if the Prototype version didn't sell well
- Canceling Mega Man Legends 3 anyway before the Prototype was released. Canceling the Prototype too, just for kicks.
- Announcing they are pulling support from the Nintendo Wii and 3DS to concentrate on 360 and PS3.
- Probably going to announce a new, improved, better version of Marvel vs Capcom 3 this week... less than 6 MONTHS after the game came out. Sucks if you bought that $80 Collector's Edition, eh?

MML3 is particularly painful because the policy of the development team was "transparency" between them and the fans. They wanted the fans involved all the way, to let them know what they were doing, to get their reactions and feedback, to discuss gameplay, character designs, level designs, story... everything. After an 11 year wait, it was very reassuring to see such community building and passion.

And the game is canceled. Not just canceled, but they won't even give a clear indication as to why. The transparency disappeared. It became a business-suit PR response when before it had been a cheerful, enthusiastic collaboration between creators and fans. Pulling the fans in, investing their time with the creation process, and bringing their hopes up only to dash them is beyond spiteful, and the least they could have done was be forthcoming about why, but fans weren't even given that answer. It's a cold, harsh, bitter end to a dream project thousands were becoming engrossed in.

And that's just the nature of Capcom now. They'd rather re-release Resident Evil 4 for the 7th time (not counting packaged deals and platform specific re-releases; seriously, 7 times), re-release yet another version of Street Fighter IV (9 versions between platforms and counting), and milk their current games (Marvel vs. Capcom 3, step right up) for every dollar and penny than keep their promises to their fans.

This is not the same company that used to take such bold risks and give fans such quality games as Okami, Power Stone, Breath of Fire, Killer 7, Dino Crisis, Strider, Captain Commando, Mega Man Legends, Onimusha, and Godhand. Not even close.

Inafune's departure isn't the thing that showed the writing on the walls for me, it was what he said after he left that said a lot. He'd risen to a rather high position in the company by the time he left and he was practically the driving force behind several projects...but when he left he said that he needed to go somewhere he felt he could be free.

There'd been a rumor going around for a while that Capcom was never planning to release this game and that the purpose of making it public was to try to rally the fan community to show it could work. After all, Inafune said repeatedly since MML2 was released that he wanted to return to that series but that it was hard to get projects like that approved. After he hit the position of Capcom's Global Head of Production they suddenly had an interest in doing it again that hadn't been there before.

It was strange when I saw his interviews after he quit where he said that he wanted more freedom to do the projects he wanted to do. He became the Global Head of Production, meaning he was one of the highest authorities in what would and wouldn't get produced. Yet he still said that he couldn't do the things he wanted to do.

Knowing that, the rumor they never intended to go through with the project makes me wonder: did Legends/Dash 3, MMU and possibly countless others we aren't aware of die because Inafune quit...or did Inafune quit because he knew those project would die?

I second that. I want to see this publisher rot like the maggot-infested pig corpse it's been for the last six years.

This is depressing. I bought a 3DS for Megaman Legends 3 and new Paper Mario. Well, I guess a system with one game is better than a system with none... But damn! I really, really wanted this.

Ehh... and that prototype was going to be the second best game in the eshop. I am starting to wonder why I even bought a 3DS...
