I couldn't agree more

I'd pay to see him eat breakfast cereal and scrambled eggs (hopefully in a sinister way)

Well, it does look good, we'll see I guess.

I did see that Avengers cartoon they had, and I loved the flashbacks to WWII. Maybe.

Also, Hugo Weaving, and Tommy Lee Jones? This had better be DAMN GOOD.
"Mr. Rogers...surprised to see me?"

okay that doesn't work exactly...makes me think about a different particularly neighborly Mr. Rogers

Back to the movie:
I don't mind his uniform so much as his shield. The fact that it is so brightly colored compared to the rest of his uniform looks a little odd. It maybe bullet proof but it seems like hes holding a giant target. Not the best idea in a firefight.
I think that's kind of the point. The shield would be visible from a distance, and once the Cap' builds up a reputation, it will an inspire an "ahhh....shit" from the Nazi's and a morale boost for any Allies. Secondly, any enemy soldiers who notice the shield but don't know that it's bullet proof will be shooting at the guy who's the hardest to kill.
Much like how banners and standards were used by armies in days of old, and how drummers and pipers would go with the troops. Morale is vital to any military action, and he was not only a super soldier, but a morale booster to friendlies, while being a discourager to the foes.
Plus, if his Shield stands out and becomes the first thing they aim at, it means they won't be shooting at his head or legs or anywhere else that isn't a bulletproof shield. If you're going to make something look like a target, you might as well make it the thing that's not going to be affected by bullets, right?

I think they even used a similar explanation for the Yellow around the bat symbol on Batman at one point - by drawing attention to his chest, he's drawing the attention of any bullets that might potentially hit him to the area of his body that's easiest to protect against gunfire.

I am soooo looking forward to this movie! It looks awesome. Also like that they added Hydra in there.

Now all they have to do is have Bucky die and loose his arm at the end. If they don't they have opted out on a very interesting plot for a possible third movie in my mind.

This doesn't look great, I hope Captain America doesn't bring down The Avengers, despite being their some-time leader he's always been the weakest of the characters.
Yeah, they've never had any avengers weaker than Cap.

Well, between the two of them, they had one that seemed much worse.

I hope they at least put in a nod to Cap's first shield.

CAPTAAAAIIIIN AMERICAAAAA!

I'm not normally the patriotic type, but when I see Cap, and all the good he stands for, I get all salute-y.

He's also one of my favorite characters to use in MvC 3.

Cap has always been my favorite Avenger, and I remember being pissed off that his death in the comics didn't garner as much attention as Superman, but that's probably because the death of Superman was before we realized death in comics is usually only temporary.

Anyway, yeah, I'm super psyched for this, and also the Avengers.

Oh and if anyone's upset about him using guns, just FYI, he did use guns before being frozen then thawed years later. It was war, after all. But now, he doesn't jive with them. Cap's probably the most mature character ever written in comics.

if they dont at lest mention the UK or any of the other allies im just going to class this bad. Or are we in a world where WW2 started in 1941?
Of course it didn't start in 1941. We couldn't RESCUE the UK if it wasn't first in danger....>.>
After leaving them to stand alone against the might of the Nazi Reich for the first half of the war and still hold the line.
Yes because the British didn't buy any oil or weapons from the US. And we didn't secretly send them any supplies.
Yeah, because arms dealing is more heroic than holding off a much larger airforce with just a few hundred planes, when all except one type is inferior to the enemy planes.

My point: Once America finally considered World War 2 to be 'its problem', it played an important role on the Allied side, but to say that you simply stepped in and saved the Allies is insanely arrogant, and offensive to the people who were fighting and dying two years before America even committed any troops to the war.

I hope they transform Chris Evans into Cap in the first five minutes of the film, because the CGI-weakling Steve Rogers is incredibly visually off-putting. I was sick of it in that trailer alone.
Thank god I wasn't the only one to notice this. It looks TERRIBLE (not the trailer, just the CGI'd head).

They need to fix this before the film comes out, or it will be a massive distraction. There's no excuse with today's technology. Just look at The Social Network movie, the Winklevoss twins were played by one guy (Arnie Hammer) and his head was superimposed on another body flawlessly.

I know Chris' head is the wrong size for another actor's thin body, but it just doesn't look right. It's as if he has some ethereal glow around his head.

They should have got Christian Bale to play Cap, for the sole reason that he would have actually lost a hundred pounds to play a skinny Steve Rogers, and then put on 200 pounds of muscle in a few months to play a 6 foot, juiced up Cap.

Anyway, rant over. My dollars will be going to the studio in the cinema's opening weekend, regardless. Some real talent onboard here.

Heh, Hank Pym will always be remembered as a wife-beater.
As for the shield thing, check out...

Looks like a lot of fun; I'm looking forward to Thor more than I am Cap, but I'll happily take a punt on him at the cinemas.

Well....that looks horrible. I can't take anything serious where the Nazis are in league with Satan or some other demonic force. That, and the awful shield.

MTE, I like capt. America as much as the next person, but when you are putting a charcter in historical events you have to have to show *some* sliver of respect for the truth (as much as you can in fantasy movie at least).

Plus everyone knows it was russia that won the war for the allies anyway.

But yeah, ima Thor fan so this is only second on my super hero list. Green Lanter droped off the list when i found out they weren't using John Stewart, the best lanturn imo.

"Do it, Mr. Stark."

I FUCKING KNEW IT.
If they can't have Robert Downey Junior in every Marvel movie, then by God they will have someone who looks vaguely similar to his father!

Dude, that was 60 years ago. Plus, its pretty easy to say that when you are seperated by the Atlantic ocean and we were getting our ass'es blitzed.
Besides, the Russians won WWII.

Why are people getting bent out of shape over the historically inaccurate nature of this movie?

Where was the anger when film-makers made movies about a small squad of Jews terrorizing Nazis, or a group of men sent to rescue the last surviving son of a family?
Just so you know, Saving Pvt Ryan had a degree of truth within it. It did happen, maybe not to the extent that is portrayed, and i also believe it wasnt an American squad that was sent out to retrieve the target, but still.
Most films made in America are aimed at Americans, its merely sensible marketing to a local target audience. Dont know why people are getting pissy at Cpt America. Im English, but i still wanna heck the film out before i make decsions.
