The old PC RPG was quite good, I thought. Of course turning such a thing into an MMO is always touchy, but at least it's an interesting proposition.
WoD MMORPG has been in the works since CCP merged with White-Wolf. Nobody even knew about Twilight at that time.amaranth_dru said:V:TM was one of my top 5 Table-top RPG's when I was younger. When White-Wolf decided to re-do the entire World of Darkness series, I attempted to assimilate, and found it wasn't as cool the 2nd time around. I sincerely hope they revert to the original Camarilla/Sabbat world and not the Requiem version, which I can't stand.
All that aside, MMOG is not where I would go with this anyway. WoW remains king, and everything else seems to fall to the wayside. I do hope this isn't a quick cash grab by White-Wolf attempting to capitalize on the current (and much hated) Twilight kick. I used to attend DragonCon yearly, and I have met a lot of the people who work (or worked) for White-Wolf and they didn't seem to strike me as the "sacrifice good story/art/whatever for cash" mentality.
Dear god, I hope not. Bring back the days when vampires were creepy, subtle, with intrigue and menance - not sparkly teenagers playing baseball in the rain, and filled with teenage angst (edit: and as another poster pointed out, they'll all go out into sunlight and wonder why they died...)sephiroth1991 said:I can see alot of Twilight fans playing this.
Actually I play EVE and I also played Vampire: Bloodlines - this World of Darkness MMO is pretty intriguing. At this stage it's very hard to tell where it'll go, but if it retains the gritty, no-nonsense, dark world that White Wolf & Troika created (long before Twilight rubbish) then it's got great potential for all that EVE does, for a slightly different demographic - a lot of female gamers who are interested in EVE but don't like the lack of an avatar will be interested in this game, and not just a bunch of teenagers (not that I have anything against teenagers per se, though I do have a lot against Twilightark123 said:Of course, none of the people who replied that actually play EVE.
EVE is about corporations, their player base is 30 years old with a high paying job ON AVERAGE, and there are parts of the game that are literally exactly like running a successful company. Finance, projection graphs, high executives, etc.
Now tell me you think these people would be willing to join a game where you play a vampire and use mystical powers. Someone convince me this isn't going to be 90% teenagers trying to rip each other's heads off and teenager girls trying to date Edward.
Have you actually played in a game of it? With people? The Youth Counselor said:Fuck the Requiem and the new World of Darkness, they suck nine inch dick. Instead of focusing on and highlighting vampires being monsters who do awesome shit like murdering people while hiding their existence from the shadows they focus on lame angsty preppy Ricean vampires who mope around while being romantic.
Just flipping through one of their sourcebooks gives you the impression that it is a trashy goth romance story aimed for lonely young women.
This! Redemption was epic.FinalDream said:I loved the Masquerade Redemption back in the day, bloodlines was hit and miss but news of a MMOG just ruined my day.
I know your pain... After too much time in wow, here comes something that will probably drag me in even further.. I may as well get fired now =P2fish said:But I don't play MMOs....
I want another VTM but it is an MMO. I cannot make up my mind, my vow against paying for MMOs or VTM....
Help?
I will have to think on this while playing bloodlines.
and in that time expansions at least expanded the storyline with interesting new campaigns and other goodies, instead of an armored horse, or a new weapon/gun...Cheveyo said:Orcus_35 said:Why does every single good franchise have to go on MMO's nowadays... that pisses me off !
unless it's a free MMO... that would be adequate.
Free MMOs tend to be terrible. Normally not really free, either. They offer premium items and content which usually means that if you want to do well in the game, you will need to cough up money for. Which, of course, means you end up paying MORE money than simply 15 dollars a month.
On top of that, the free accounts always come with severe restrictions which are there to encourage you to spend money.
Pay to play is better. One standard payment a month for all the content. Regular updates and fixes.
Of course, now-a-days, since companies have figured out some people will pay for DLC they've started getting stingy about that stuff.
Gone are the days when you got new content for free. I don't think you'll see that sort of thing in games anymore.
