All I hope for is werewolves.......
Don't know if you ever played Bloodlines, but that was in the same world, and werewolves there were indestructible. You could only run and hide. Don't know how that can be balanced.

Right....

First of all, "free titans"? Are you referring to the t20 scandal? Wasn't that about T2 blueprints?

Ghost training... Well... It's a tangled issue... I can see why people were upset when they removed it, but then again, I can see why they did remove it, they are a business after all, that offers a service in return for payment. They can't have people taking advantage of said service without paying, that's uneconomical.

And besides, when ghost training was taken out, everyone and their dog was all up in tears about how they would cancel all their 500 subscriptions, and how the game would die the next day, yet two years later, the game shows no signs of "dying".

"Mod bias against NC"? I'm sorry, but that comes of as somewhat insubstantial

I don't agree with everything CCP has done, by far, but they're easily one of the most innovating and transparent developers out there, who has taken a relatively new medium and done something unique with it, rather than churn out carbon-copies of popular games, hoping to make an easy buck.

Of course they have flaws (t20 scandal being an excellent example of that), everything has. And you have to remember that EVE is CCP's first game, development started with 24 people, and they've practically picked up what they know "on the way". In such a process, there's bound to be falls, but I really wouldn't call them "atrocious", and as a former SWG player, I like to believe that I have a fairly accurate understanding of what "atrocious" handling of an MMOG is.
No idea the official name for the scandal but basically a CCP employer gave BoB free stuff.
You can argue why ghost training should have been removed but you can't argue about the absolutely god-awful way CCP handled it. It was just as the Icelandic economy collapsed but instead of saying so they pretended it was a bug that had never been fixed. Yeah, sure....
Plus without it EvE literally just becomes a complete bullsh*t of a game - you end up essentially paying £15 for one skill point? Screw that.

Clearly if you don't know about the mods being baised to the NC you really haven't gotten involved in 0 politics. I quit after ghost training but my r/l mate (now 80 mill+ character) stayed with the game & he quit because of the mod bias.
For example BoB invades a NC sector. The server crashes and when petitioned, all the destroyed BoB ships are returned to a safe sector.
On the flip side when NC invaded BoB space, trapped a bunch of BoB capitals suddenly the server crashed, while it was way from being overloaded, but hey, sh*t happens...However instead of the destroyed NC ships being returned to NC space, they were respawned EMPTY in BoB space. Now please tell me how the f**k that seems like a good idea?
This is one of many, many incidences. Seriously when you get involved in 0 space you begin to see that the mods are breaking the game.
Ok first, the off in the t20 scandal, the Items in question where a number of extremely rate blueprints and they where not given for free. . The admin in question placed the items into his personal account and then sold them to BoB at a quarter of the cost. (BoB got what they wanted and his personal player account got loaded with isk and showed an actual transaction record so it aroused less suspicion). The end result of that event. the CCP admin got fired, the blueprints he handed out where deleted and since CCP couldn?t really prove that BoB where aware that the player was an Admin at the items where illegal (although I very much think they did) rather than banning accounts CCP simply didn?t return the money they spent on the blueprints too them. Seems well handled to me, when you consider that the blueprints where technically stolen items and if irl you take position of stolen property but are proved to have no knowledge that the property was stolen you loose the item, the money you spent on the item but as a general rule nothing else.

Secondly the Ghost training, I tend to agree with Arachon, I can see why people were upset when they removed it, but then again, I can see why they did remove it.
Could it have been handled better?. . . . Yes. . . . Was it handled any worse than most MMO?s major changes? . . . no. . . . Have I seen other MMO companies screw up major changes worse? . . . . Oh hell yes. Basically there on a level playing field with all the other developers on this one.

Finally, Mod bias against NC? I call bullshit. I can see the event you wrote out would be a major irritation but too prove mod bias there needs to be a solid history of such events recurring (that is to say a history of ship respawns such as NC ships being spawned in BoB space) and there would also have to be no history of the reverse happening (That is to say no history or incidents of BoB ships being spawned in NC space) If you can find six to twelve months of history showing both of the above. . Then I agree with you. . .do I think you will find it? No if you could it would already be posed on the forums and marked as a new scandal.

I?m guessing you used to pilot for NC in EvE and had some rough times from reading your post. If so I?m sorry for you, however as per above while CCP?s EvE online may not be for everyone, considering how the games development started and has grown I believe that they are one of the better MMO developers out there. If they can create a large believable WoD with the player controlled political freedom that exists in EvE I may open my wallet too them again.

And in all honesty I think there the only developer out there that has a chance to make a WoD MMO work.

(subnote: I never piloted for NC or BoB, I used to escort transports suppling both in 0.0 so I?m not biased to either side. And I stopped playing because my girlfriend pretty much told me you can have me whenever you want or EvE whenever you want. Hate to say it but fishnets, Six inch heels and a skirt that is probably closer to being a belt. . . . EvE just suddenly became so much less important :p )

I found this over on White Wolfs own forums. It's posted by Russell Bailey, who is one of the Vampire: The Requiem developers, in response to a question about clarification on the "oWoD or nWoD" question. It's as close as anything I've seen to officially confirm that the MMO will indeed be based on V:tM, and no this does not mean they are giving up on V:tR, just just that the old setting is better suited for an MMO and Requiem is better suited for tabletop.

If they can streamline the old metaplot a bit (as towards the end it did become something of a tangled mess), I would tend to agree with him. It certainly sounds line they are going to cherrypick features rather than just transplating the setting into an online world.

When White Wolf sat down to create Vampire: The Requiem, the goal was to create the best possible face-to-face roleplaying game. The lessons learned about setting, story and mechanics from thirteen years of constant experimentation, exploration, and development were brought to bear on creating The World of Darkness.

We've been developing from that vision for six years, and it kicks ass. At this point, I've given four or five years of my life to the game. Bled for it, even, though not in a very exciting way. I'm in love.

We don't see the two generations of Vampire as competing right now. Vampire: The Requiem remains a top notch tabletop roleplaying game. World of Darkness will be a top-notch virtual world. They're both based on Vampire: The Masquerade, but their needs are different.

I can't really talk about the MMO. But I can tell you that the team is led by creators of the original game, as well as those of EVE Online. If you've got a friend at Grand Masquerade, have him thank our producer, Chris McDonough, who, among many other things, invented clans. We have Chris, Rich Thomas, and other people who helped create the first World of Darkness and the current one on board. The team that's brought you Requiem -- Justin, Eddy, and myself included, are also working on World of Darkness.

White Wolf has always been about creating the best tools for you to tell your stories. And that's exactly what we're going to keep doing.

So on one hand: This could be awesome.
On the other hand: Most MMO fail to deliver and I am not sure, if I want to spent my time/money on a MMO.
Especially since I have a p&p group.

I might be too optimistic but I am excited :D I've played VtM:B with practically all the clans, then I got interested and searched on the White Wolf wiki, discovered a lot of other clans and stuff (would like to play pen and paper, but can't find anyone in my town)... Didn't really like the VtR though, just because of so many changes (maybe it's prejudice). Also, the devs confirmed that the MMO will be beased on the VtM:B ^_^
and about Twilight fans... I think they will be disappointed because vampire politics are harder than sparkly vampires >:3
