Draconian: A word I've only ever seen when it is followed by "DRM". That's right, DRM sucks so bad that it made the word "draconian" a household term.

They're not really buttering us up. All they're doing is not treating their customers with contempt like most others. It's not really pure benevolence, more just treating people like people, and not as walking, drooling wallets that are ripe for the picking.

Yep. It's like praising a store owner for not slapping you in the face when you make a purchase. CD Projekt just seems capable of learning, unlike every other dev/pub who just tightens their grip more and more with every passing year.

Does anyone else feel like they're trying desperately hard to gather a sort of cult fan base. Of course I appreciate their respect for the industry and for gamers, but it's weird seeing a company that can do absolutely nothing wrong.

Like Valve isn't perfect, and Steam has a thin layer of DRM, but CDP RED seem to be entirely benevolent 100% of the time, and it's a little disconcerting.

They have only one flaw: Their games are very buggy and imbalanced on release. I've only played The Witcher 1 & 2's enhanced editions, so I never had to deal with it.

I'm torn between supporting them and pre-ordering their cyberpunk game when it'll be possible and waiting for them to make the enhanced edition of it.

Is there some reason you "corrected" the spelling of his name to be incorrect? As someone who's at least nominally Polish myself, it was at least mildly annoying every time I saw Tomaszkiewics instead of Tomaszkiewicz while reading it. Yes, we spell things funny. The Witcher isn't my cup of tea, but freakin BRAVO! This is rare to see these days. A company actually treating their customers properly. That instantly wins me over. Total prop to these guys, I'll find a way to support them one way or another. Definitely going to be keeping my eye on them.

Sex is fine (I love sex). Nudity is fine (the human body is normal and beautiful). A man having sex with a lot of women is fine (consensual acts). But when you actually reduce women to sex objects to be conquered via multiple choice dialog options, with the correct pattern resulting in them dropping their panties and turning into a sex card?

I'd sooner give money to a group that directly spits in my face.

Indeed, I love RPG's but playing The Witcher just made me want to vomit. The fact that it was just non stop pandering to guys bothered me too. I hope to god their cyberpunk rpg isn't like that.

They have no excuse to make people as sexist in a futuristic setting and they have been super evasive about whether you will be able to play as a woman.

I didn't buy The Witcher 2 and I won't be buying their new RPG's if you can't play as a woman (mostly because it will make me uneasy that it will be The Witcher all over again)

We must have unlocked some sort of achivement.

I have no problem with sex in games but in The Witcher it just felt so skeevy and one sided like the male version of Twilight or something. I hope that makes sense.

To be fair, while the 1st game was one sided I think they realise they have a female audience as well now. Geralt ends up chained in nothing but leather pants more than once...

And sexist setting does not necessarily equal sexist characters. There are some bad ass females too.

Although I was annoyed at how often they used the rape card (yes I know rape did happen a lot), how they treated Ves, the levels of fan service on Iorveths path and the fact they play up lesbians as fan service while the one gay guy is made to be as disgusting as possible though I don't know that this was delibrate.

This is a company I want to support, but I can't because my PC can't run their products, and I only own a PS3.

I love CD Projekt, I just wish more of their work could be found on PS3 :/

Which game from their massive catalogue of two titles would you like to see?

How about both of them?
They're willing to bring the Enhanced Edition to the 360, so why not port it to PS3?

I'm not the biggest fan of The Witcher series (traditional, Tolkein-esque fantasy just doesn't hit my buttons), but as far as them as a company goes, my god I love CD Projekt Red. If I had to choose between GoG and Steam, I'd choose GoG. Luckily we don't have to choose! We can have both! Which is good cos I love Valve a whole bunch! But CD Projekt Red is equal with them as far as my respect goes. So they're absolutely right.

I am keeping my eye on them because... they're just great. I don't think anyone can reasonably say that they treat their consumers poorly. They're just brilliant. Love ya, CD Projekt Red. ...now fix the Saints Row 2 PC port please.

This absolutely makes me want to buy The Witcher 1/2, neither of which I've had much interest in before.

I also want to pre-order Cyberpunk... Also having little clue what it's about.

Damn these respectful business practices. It's like we've been exposed to so much junk in the industry that anytime someone steps up and says 'hey, we care!' I can't help but want to throw money and support their way.

On the one hand WOOO! Intelligent business practices yay!

On the other hand I kinda despise most things described as "realistic and brutal". That's not a good combination, in my opinion. And even if it were, most of the time they're lying about the first point anyway. Plus holy crap collectible cards for sexing? That's a bit much, isn't it?

So yeah, I certainly wouldn't pirate the games, even I were still into that, but I haven't brought myself to purchase them yet, either. I don't know if I will.

Still, props for the consumer respect thing.

Ok that's it CD projekt your my Favourite videogame company I can't deny it any longer, your games are great and polished your stance on DRM,DLC and International Game pricing are the best in the business and you treat gamers like fellow gamers.

Thank You CD projekt and to show my gratitude Cyberpunk will be a day one purchase for me and I have so little money that very few games get day one purchase but I will save up my pennies and buy it.

I have no problem playing games with a male lead (If I did I would miss out on quite a lot) My issue is with the pandering at play in The Witcher. It was just nasty and I'm worried that if they have another male only protagonist it will be the same problem.

I don't have a problem with sex in games but that game treated women like they were achievements to be collected or something and of course they all wanted to sleep with him. It was like some sort of terrible Gary Stu fanfiction.

I have no idea if The Witcher 2 was any better as I haven't played it.

Ok, we all agree that the collectable sex cards were a stupid idea, hell, CD Project Red knows that the collectable Sex cards were a stupid idea.
But can't we just let that one thing in an otherwise great game go?
Yes you always play Geralt in the Witcher games, but you can't really change the main character gender when your in a fixed story. And both the Witcher games always had strong females, who were just as capable and in most cases, even more capable than the male ones.

You are getting the wrong idea of what we said.

No one said it was sexist because you can only play a guy. (Hell I love Half Life, Metro 2033, Deus Ex, Bioshock, The Zelda Series, Mario etc to infinitum) It's sexist because it objectifies women and reads like some sort of male fantasy fanfiction. I think whoever wrote The Witcher books must not have had many lady friends...or must have been locked in the attic for a year or something.

Ok, first of all show me one advertisement of the Witcher games, advertising the game with boobs and sex. Please, just one.
I didn't find any, not on the cover or the back of any of the two boxes.
It was in the game sure, but they did NOT advertise the game with it.
And no in the Witcher world the woman are not all whores. They all seem really willing to sleep with Geralt, but that's because he's a Witcher. Witchers are sterile, therefore the only way a woman can have sex in the Witcher world, without the fear of becoming pregnant is having sex with a witcher.
And have you even played the games? Or just read about them?
Because, yes, there were some situations which could be counted down to "Wanna have sex?" "Sure".
Then there were the romances with triss or shani, which were more deep and had a good story.
And then there's The Witcher 2. It has the same brutal world but much less "card collecting". When you get to have sex (It's not very often) it completely fits the situation.
So please play the goddamn games before you scream "Sexists!" aroundit'
