How patients can be treated? A bullet to the head sounds like a good start.
Bullet to the head is very difficult against a moving target a good distance away if you're not using a scoped weapon and are trained to do so.

Plus, walking corpses still decompose and rot very quickly, then there's winter and how Cracked pointed out the whole zombie apocalypse scenario isn't logically possible.
"Patient" implies someone already infected and under the care of doctors.
And i hope the good doctor is ensured... because the infected might look for second opinion/meal...

Second reaction: Oh, wait, it's even more stupid than that.

I fail to see the relevance in this context, I've stated the parameters for this hypothetical, but it still stands that regardless of how the zombies function, spread, etc the focus initially needs to be on securing against zombies, and study needs to fall to a distant second.
It doesn't matter if you stated the parameters, they have to go into it knowing nothing of how zombies work (As we have no previous cases of zombies happening) and gather data while containing and minimizing the effects of the outbreak as best as possible. If they acted on assumptions based in popular myth for anything we (Gamers) would have been exterminated decades ago.

The worst thing about this approach is that according to Muntz et al. (2009) the CDC plan will totally fail to work. They recommend swift, decisive action (i.e. actively seek and disable/destroy zombies aggressively) as the only way to save humanity.

There was a program on National Geographic about the possibilities of Zombies :) Was pretty cool actually.
Looked into voodooism, and science.
Apparently, if it was to be some strange virus-induced thing.. like the Rage virus or whatever.. it's highly unlikely. Even if Ebola and Rabies were mixed, symptom onset wouldn't be before 1 or 2 days, by which case something would be done about the infected individual. Unless a hella load of people got infected at once.

I digress.

I'm not sure if the government having a plan is a good thing or not? :/
I mean, as mentioned by a few before me.. As individuals and families, we have our own plans.
My family thought it up when slightly drunk after watching Shaun of the Dead :L
Shouldn't the government be doing something useful?

2 last points:
Dead Rising will help us all.
The real issue is cats ruling the world and growing thumbs.. think about that, government!

They don't even mention arming yourself, what a bunch of stupid bullshit. Don't worry about arming yourself...no no no, the gov'ment will protect you. this is all you needs apparently:

? Water (1 gallon per person per day)
? Food (stock up on non-perishable items that you eat regularly)
? Medications (this includes prescription and non-prescription meds)
? Tools and Supplies (utility knife, duct tape, battery powered radio, etc.)
? Sanitation and Hygiene (household bleach, soap, towels, etc.)
? Clothing and Bedding (a change of clothes for each family member and blankets)
Important documents (copies of your driver?s license, passport, and birth certificate to name a few)
? First Aid supplies (although you?re a goner if a zombie bites you, you can use these supplies to treat basic cuts and lacerations that you might get during a tornado or hurricane)

This is all well and good and they are critical, but even more critical should be

? WEAPONS WEAPONS WEAPONS WEAPON (as many guns and as much ammo as you can possibly carry)
? Heavy clothing (protect yourself with some heavy duty leather!)

It's like the CDC just wants a bunch of morons to make a break for it with nothing but streetwear and Nikes to fight off a mob of zombies, the fucking idiots.

Why are they even talking about this shit even, trying to get kids brainwashed and on their side I would suspect.

Does this have anything to do with the public inquiry into Zombie Defence Plans that happened in the UK a few days ago?

Some 'concerned citizens' sent an appeal to the local authority asking what the procedure was in case of a zombie attack. Since the Information Act means that local authorities HAVE to give evidence to public inquirey, they had to disclose all possible recourse in case zombies invaded.

There wasn't much.

Wow, why are they even taking zombies seriously? They have no proof whatsoever that there will be such thing as zombies. The assumption that zombies will eat human brains and will attack people is not even a real theory; it's something that a guy came up with a long time ago and everyone just thought it was cool and they kept rolling with it, like werewolves and actually vampires (Not animals, but humans with fangs whose heart has stopped beating and, well you know the rest).

Anyway, if for some law defying reason zombies did exist and they somehow posed a threat against humanity, wouldn't they be easy to dispose of? I mean, they're dead, they're weak, they lack muscles or basic intelligence. Speaking of muscles, how would they be strong enough to push their coffin open and break free?
If for some other reason they possessed some sort of virus that turned out to be contagious and extremely deadly (Death within hours, zombie effects follow), then I assume it could only be passed on to someone with direct contact with the zombie, just like many sicknesses out there. So as long as we avoid them, which wouldn't be hard due to their speed (Remember, no muscles), then we're good.

As far as treating the thing? Well...HOW?! They're dead and rotten! Unless they can find a way to make someone's heart beat again, to give them vital organs, to regrow large amounts of muscle and skin and to fix their brain, then it's pretty much a lost cause. At any rate, why would you bring a rotten corpse back to life? Because that's the only cure there is for this...unless they're talking about making them civilized? Which, at any rate, who's to say they would be wild and violent? I mean, some animals are wild and violent but you don't see people killing them just because. Well...we do but not like zombies.

That's a lot of ifs but I find it funny and ridiculous that the government is seriously considering zombies a threat. If it's still a joke, well then joke's over, man. It officially stopped being funny.
