Chrono sure but remaking the same story is costly, lazy, boring, and easily open to critism. New is always better than old. I love the old games but remakes will only go so far. personally I might enjoy a updated version of VII and VI but most likely something horrible will happen that might ruin the old game. New IPs are the best way to go intead of living in the past. Still, I see your point and it is not impossible. I just think remakes never go well.Bonemonster said:I can understand your position but I wasn't speaking of some simple re-release. A complete redo of FF7 that was like that teaser trailer a few years ago would rake in some serious dough. The same could be said of a modern FF6.King_Serpent said:I really don't think that re-releasing old titles is a good plan like everyone is saying release some new IPs like their doing then new famous franchises will spring up hopefully which random people will want remade.
EDIT: By the way so no one mistakes what I am saying they can re-release old games just remaking them seems pointless
As for Chrono, a new one, please.
OK, name me a good game that Square-Enix has developed.Defense said:lolnoTreblaine said:I'll tell you why it fails. Because it hasn't made a good game... ever.
Uh the "next Generation" don't get too excited about that.SpaceMedarotterX said:First things first. Get Versus and Type-0 out, those matter the most because it looks like they should be the ones to work as the platform for the next generation.
Not that next generation. The next generation of RPGs, the FUCK does console matter?Treblaine said:Uh the "next Generation" don't get too excited about that.SpaceMedarotterX said:First things first. The next Nintendo Console is only going to catch up with PS3 and 360 and then it won't arrive till late 2012.
The Next Xbox will not be out till 2014 and likely won't have any worth-while games developed for it till 2015. Sony is sticking to it's 2016 release for their next gen console.
Atlus are truly the benevolent overlords of RPG's that I would gratefully bow down to. Look at the DS game The Dark Spire the most simply made RPG of the last 20 years, but also one of the deepest and better than anything SE has put out in 15 years except maybe DQ9 (I loved that game) and not counting games they just published like Arkham Asylum.OutrageousEmu said:....I'm seeing a world where Atlus is as powerful as Square Enix. Its a magical place indeed.Shinkada said:Well at least we know Square can make fantastic games. Nier was wonderful.
Ohh, right, that was PUBLISHED by Square. The developer was Cavia, who also made Drakengard.
Oh really, Square didn't make that either?
Well at least they've got Deus Ex 3 coming up!
... Oh, right. Eidos are making that.
Well uh. Hm. I dunno what to tell you. I guess mediocre RPGs seen through nostalgia goggles and stealing other developers' hard work doesn't pay off after all? Serves the bastards right, the death of Square would be a boon to the gaming world. Maybe some RPG developers who actually want to write some storylines or characters could get some attention if people weren't so distracted by FF's shiny graphics and fanfiction.net-level writing.
You are right, they did say for the PS3 specifically. I hope they do something with the property.OutrageousEmu said:No, they said why not for the Ps3. As i recall, there's a new console coming out thats renowned for its ease of making games for, as well as its power.Baresark said:Well, you got the second part right. They already discussed publicly why they aren't going to remake FF7. Sorry.thefreeman0001 said:if this doesnt make them produce ff7 i dont know what would.
I wouldn't be suprised if it set a sales recordHikaru CF said:Perhaps they'll get round to a FF7 remake? Surely that would make a nice amount of money from longtime fans and people who have never played the fabled 'best' FF game (like me).
How weak were they expecting development to become?Tom Goldman said:Speaking at an investor's briefing (via Andriasang), Wada admitted: "Our game development has become weaker than expected. Revamping it will take one or two years."
