Batman in the Dark Knight movies. I think he should die or at least retire in the Dark Knight Rises. Afraid of what Warner Bros will do to the franchise after Nolan and Bale are done with it.
They'll do a reboot, regardless of what happens in DKR.
Yeh, Warner Bros are apparently discussing doing a justice league series if Man of Steel does well, and that would probably involve rebooting batman again anyway cos as good as BB and DK are (and as good as DKR could be) nolanverse batman would be so radically out of place alongside the likes of superman/wonderwoman/flash etc.

There is no character who could not be redeemed by a reboot handled correctly. Case in point, Batman. Had you asked this question after Batman & Robin, almost everyone here would have said the Dark Knight's run was finished, or at least relegated to campy tv shows. Then along came Nolan, and suddenly he's hugely popular and everyone loves him.

Lara Croft seems to be an upcoming example. If this game delivers all it promises, it will prove that there is life in the old girl yet. Even if it doesn't deliver on everything it may well show there is enough room left for more stories.

he only problem long runing characters with multiple writers ever have is that some of the writers aren't very good. All it takes is one incredible writer and everything turns around, no matter what character.

So I don't want any character to die, I want bad writers to not be allowed to write them.

You say these characters should be killed off but remember when Epic finally gave people what they want and killed off Dom? But they did it in the same game that they actually turned him into a likeable character and it was sad as fuck? do you really want that to happen again? Although I'm sure killing Sonic wouldn't be a huge tragedy...

Kratos. I am actually shooting in the dark here, I haven't played God of War and I am not that familiar with the story, but didn't he kill the majority of Greek gods? Even if not, he'll eventually run out things to kill, so either somebody would step up and take his place or he may get bored and kill himself, I dunno.
Kratos's fate is left unknown at the end of God of War 3. From his severe wound, he might as well have died.

Desmond Miles - The most boring possible character in the most exciting possible universeTm
Best idea here, Desmond is actually just a boring ancestor who's life is being experienced by a new unseen protagonist from even farther into the future.

I'd vote to kill off the adviser dude from the Roller Coaster Tycoon games.

Then a couple of games later we find out the new character is also an ancestor of a new unseen protagonist, and Ubisoft keeps dragging it further and further into the future. That's quite an awesome twist though, I've never thought of that being a possibility.

My femshep in ME3.

..She's not the same as she was in ME1 and ME2, she's all...eager for attention and..flirty. It's awkward when you didn't pursue any romances at all with anyone in the previous games. And I don't get any neutral choices..

It just makes her awkward :( her time has come. ..I think I'll go get her killed and just...never go back :'(
Pal, I don't know how to say this...you got your wish....hope you're happy because I'm sure as Hell not.

Nathan Drake, "Uncharted". Should've died at the end of Uncharted 3. He spends the whole game listening to people warning him that this time, he might finally go to far and do something he won't be able to take back. Then at the end...He doesn't. He's totally fine, and as a result, the game pretty much stops moving right before it gets awesome. What SHOULD have happened is
Talbot should have successfully extracted the Demon Vessel, only to have Drake release them just to satisfy his moronic curiosity. When the demons start being, well, demonic, he realizes his mistake and decides to sink the city to imprison them again (Brass vessel, "City of Brass") and dies helping Sully escape.
As it is, the game is just anti-climactic.

Kratos(God of War) - he's dead leave him be!
Cole(InFAMOUS) - same as above!
Kratos showed a bit of life, just so the franchise could be milked. I agree, off 'im.

As for Cole, he's dead in the one ending I liked, so I'm inclined to say leave him alone.

Isabella from Dragon Age 2.
Seriously that thing with the Qunari book pissed me off. Causing a war to save your own hide? WHAT.
Of course my friendship wasn't high enough because I never bothered using her(Why would I want to use her over Varic? Come on.) And she wouldn't help me. And even if your friendship is high enough and you decide to get rid of her by giving her to the Qunari, BioWare rewards you with a rumour that she escaped anyway. It's like a slap in the face.

I think they should wait until he's fully trained up in the animuses (animae?...hang on....animus - i -um, second declension, "soul". Second declension goes like dominus...so dominus, domine, dominum...I'll get back to you) he should get out of the animus, ready to do battle with the Templars. He stride out of the door of the building and gets hit by a tram, killing him instantly

Sonic the Hedgehog. Put him out of his misery. Please, stop trying resuscitate the series and just put him out of his misery.
He was a character for another age, the 90s, none of his games since have been any good and he has no place in modern gaming.

Nothing wrong with looking out for number one.
If I had to, I'd do the same thing.
Only, I wouldn't come back.

Every marvel and DC character who has had a good death, I know that's against their business model and I do still enjoy comics but the impact of death is diminished some what if it happens to the same person multiple times. I'm not completely up to date with the comics so he could be at this point but Magneto should die or at least retire, he hasn't achieved his goal in around (I think) 60 years. Time maybe for him to bow out, and yeah The Dark Knight probably should to, if only for the moment when Batman.2 shows up and kicks Banes ass.

Aha a fellow latin scholar I see, just don't ask me anything because I don't pay attention and sit in the corner sniggering whenever someone called pubulus is mentioned .
I think Desmond needs to die....spectacularly. His story barely moved anywhere in revelations. Also Pikachu is getting a bit big for his/her boots
