Anders from Dragon Age 2. My first time playing I actually loved him. I thought, "oh, what a fantastic character! He's so charming and sweet and he likes cats! Hawke is so getting laid!" I was a huge mage sympathizer and everything he did just seemed so ~*TORTURED*~ and he only wanted JUSTICE and ... yeah. But upon seeing his act of blatant terrorism, I did a complete 180. All of my cutsie wootsie feelings turned into flaming piles of nope. I've played two more games since then, and I can't even stand to talk to him. I skip all of his dialogue options and shirk off his quests for the last minute. I've never, EVER had a video game character irk me that much, and it's surprising just how fucking livid he gets me.

The point where I got annoyed with him is when he tried to emotionally blackmail me into helping him with his scheme.

Anders: Hey thanks for helping me gather these dodgy chemicals. Now, could you distract the Grand Cleric while I do something secret in the Chantry?
Hawke: Erm.. that sounds suspicious. What are you really up to Anders?
A: I can't tell you, you have to trust me.
H: Nope, tell me what you're planning.
A: I thought you were my frieeeeend!
H: Right, well I don't know what you're doing, but I'm not getting involved. Seeya.

Considering the amount of railroading in DA2 I was pleased to discover that you can just refuse to help him and walk away. Not that it stops him of course.

Also, I really hated the Dalish and their belligerent attitude. Just because humans screwed over their ancestors they act overly hostile to all humans they see, regardless of said human's intention.

In my experience, there are 2 mainstream anime protagonists. The first kind are just guys like, say, Ichigo or Goku.

Those I don't have a problem with. They're a little bland, yeah, but I don't hate them. But then there's the other kind. You know them. The spineless, wimpy, stupid, hypocritical little shits that do nothing but mope and whinge the whole goddamn time. They are some of the most loathsome characters in any medium, and I hope they all die in a fire.

I'd bet dollars to donuts you are talking about Shinji Ikari in Evangelion. I wholeheartedly agree with you.

I immediately thought of Ganta from Dead Man Wonderland.

That said, I don't hate him, as how else can a 'normal' kid react in the midst of all that shit.

I hope he toughens up soon, though!

OT: Uhhhm. I don't really hate characters that much. Aside from characters like Joffrey from Game of Thrones, but he's meant to be like that.

Possibly Richard Rahl. Mainly because his ideology is supposed to be so much better than everyone else's. And each book is basically him forgetting the next Wizard's Rule in the chain. Just fucking look them up and memorize them, you arse.

I love the series "How I met your mother". It is perfect for me to come home, turn one episode on, eat something and relax until I get to the more challenging stuff and duties. I like nearly all of the characters... except Lilly. Such a ***** that pretends to know everything better but is in most cases just wrong.

This, I love the show but everytime I see lilly I want to punch her in to face.

I have a few, Joffrey from GoT is pretty high up there, along with Mako from Legend of Korra. Both of them resolve around them being massive disgraces and acting like utter utter jerks, as well as screwing over those that should be close to them, and then getting off fairly easy (for now anyway, have to wait for both of the series' to be furthered to actually know). Though in fairness being written to be an antagonist and being a butt is much better than being a protagonist, actually do some good, expect to be liked and still be a butt.

I also disliked Vann in FFXII for the most part, but that is likely due to the fact that he was fairly massively outclassed by most of the other characters, but he just got on my nerves through most of the game.

The Dalish have every right to be angry though. They had everything and lost because of humans. Not one or two specific humans but because of the race as a whole. Same in the Witcher, Iorveth may have lost sight of his goal due to his hatred but when you see what the humans have brought the elves down to you understand when you here them curse Bledae Dhoine. I have a soft spot for species fucked over like that like elves and Eldar.

All this screeching **** does is ***** and moan about her privileged fucking position as the Overseer's daughter, crying like a ****** every time she gets picked on and comes to me to unfuck all her little problems. From getting picked on at school to her father turning homicidal and endangering the entire vault causing several deaths, the helpless little shit always bothers me with her bullshit.

And what do I get for this? Not only does the ***** not have the decency to at least put out, but after her saving her stupid face and Vault, she says I have to leave, throwing me away like a used tissue. Not only do I have the fucking door locked behind me, but I never see or hear from any of them ever again. Yeah you're fucking welcome, let's see how much you need my help after I destroy the air filtration systems in your little hole, you can literally choke and fucking die.

Easily the most irritating character in the entire game, she somehow inspires more hatred and anger than any antagonist in the whole series.

So we all have those few characters that we just hate with every inch of our body, the ones that we wish and look forward to bad things happening to them. I'm not talking about just badly written characters, I'm talking about characters who's actions, personality and voice just pisses you off. So, what character do you absolutely loath?

Now, I'm gonna get this out of the way. Joffrey from Game of Thrones. I haven't watched season 2 yet so don't say if anything bad happens to him, neither have I read the books. But that little bastard is the most terrible human being ever put on screen. Unlike many of the other villians in the series Joffrey hasn't had to suffer hardships, or go through wars or anything else, he's just a spoilt brat bastard who I hope to god is killed in season 2 or season 3.

This kinda but it makes me hate bioware more than it makes me hate anders.
In awakening he was a great character, sympathetic, animal loving and a great buddy.
He hated the templars. But he hated just the templars, not the whole church.
Justice again was a great character, too. (In case you don't know Justice is a good ghost of the fade that gets forced into a dead body, while you escape the fade)
And Bioware actually managed to completely ruin TWO great characters in just one go, thats quite an achievement.

Whoever decided to make the Illusive Man Indoctrinated by the Reapers: We lost any chance of true retribution against him in 3 since he wasn't in total control of himself. He was the space age Hitler and Cerberus was his Nazi Party for crying out loud!

Emma Frost from Marvel's X-men: All my instincts tell me to stab her in the front before she stabs me in the back.

Iron Man/Tony Stark from Marvel Comics: Want to end him for various reasons that are really the fault of the writers. Robert Downey Jr. totally rocks as Stark though.

Marvel Comics Company IN the Marvel Comics Universe: Seriously? A Mary Sue of the Company in the Comics Universe it produces? I've lost my faith in comics mainly cause it's utterly pointless to care about the characters and plots since it'll all change in a few months.


Mayuri Kurotsuchi from the Bleach Manga: He turns his own people into bombs and nothing is said or done about this? Lost my interest in this manga like two years ago but that still pisses me off.

This fucker Ex-lamplight resident from Fallout 3.
Now I find it REALLY difficult to hate characters in media and to put things into perspective, I actually liked the kids from that game, even from little lamplight.
I could excuse Amata's stupidity and could forgive Butch, but that stupid bastard? No, I hate his very existence. I can't remember why though, maybe it was his stupid face, his dumbass demeanor, his skimping out on paying me for helping him or getting himself killed even having fast traveled to Big town after killing all the super mutants because he'd rather give the local wildlife a hug. SEVERAL TIMES IN A ROW.
Whenever me and my friends play that game, we always take turns to find creative ways of ending the dumbass' wasted existance, we all hate him that much.

TL,DR: It's too bad there weren't any Cazadors in Fallout 3 because I would've fed him to them every single time because I'd honestly rather deal with a pack of those bastards with a chinese pistol than seeing that bastard alive in my presence.

Now normally, soft-spoken smug smart sadistic self-satisfied snakes make for characters I tend to like(to hate) but for some reason, for him, it just makes me hate him more, I don't know why.
I first met him in my first playthrough of New Vegas, A hard, Hardcore, MST-ing as a low intelligent neutral character along with 3 friends not attempting to play seriously at all especially thinking the legion was this campy group of Roman wannabes.
Then we get his big entrance(Anyone who's played knows what I mean), his smug attitude and his speech about the strongest crushing the weak and all that and I paused the game, turned to my friends and no sooner had I asked if I should kill this guy did everyone say yes. It was a difficult fight(during my lil bro's character, he used the YCS) but to turn his ideology against him

After that we picked up Boone and in all new character playthroughs, not a single one of us chose a legion character

I played these two games recently so they were in the forefront of my mind more but for other Media.
-Kreia from KOTOR 2, some guy above put it much better than I ever could
-Rita Skeeter, It may be because it's been years since I read order of the Phoenix but I hate this crone more than that hag Umbridge
-Sasuke from Naruto, I tired myself ranting about those two up there, if I were to rant about this dude, it'd take up a whole page
