I see a lot of characters I like in this thread. FFXIII characters, Anders, Fuuka, I mean, really?
Also, WHY DOES NO ONE LIKE RIKKU??

People dislike the merchant?Crissaegrim said:"What'ya buyin? heh heh heh, thank you." My motherfucking bro, man. That blue flame was the one thing that made me feel safe to breathe in that game.
I'm right behind you, from the first moment Shadow was introduced he became the best character in the Sonic francise. Shadow is a very well thought out character, and while people call him a "bad Sonic clone" he's had more character development in his first 10 minutes than Sonic has had in his entire existence. Besides, Shadow's a LOT better at being "cool" than Sonic ever has been, and being cool is supposed to be the main draw to Sonic, so where does that lead him. To top it off, Shadow also starred in what is easily the best Sonic game (if you can call it that) in the series. People may hate Shadow, but he's definitely the best thing that's happened to the Sonic francise, and I really hope that he quits playing second fiddle to Sonic soon.Shadowfang21 said:Shadow the Hedgehog, period. Most fans of Sonic games tend to have their nostalgia goggles firmly taped onto their eyes, and thus seem to dislike almost ANY new character anyway. Shadow, to me, is Sonic's perfect foil. He's angry at humanity, not just GUN, but has a good reason to be. He's shown himself to have some heroic traits, mostly buried under all that angst in his past.
I also like Navi. She DID get irritating at times but so does everyone. I found I missed her when playing Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess.SvenBTB said:Navi, from TLoZ;OoT. I have NEVER understood why she's considered annoying. I've always thought she was a faithful companion traveling alongside Link and accompanying him on his epic quest. Not once have I been irritated by her calls of "Hey! Listen!". As "net-trendy" as it may be to hate her for her voice, I never have. Not back when I was 10 first playing it, and not now, over 10 years later.
I like itachi, yet eveyone critasizes me for this, why? He is a complex character who literally gave his sanity to do what was right, heck, he had to kill his family, Idk, i do'n see why all the hate for himJack the Potato said:Yes, this topic is inspired by Bhaalspawn's topics, so kudos to him for inspiring me. I want to know what characters that a lot of people give a lot of crap are actually liked by you guys, regardless of whether or not you like or hate the work they are from. Also, I'd prefer it if people explain their choices to better facilitate understanding rather than ignorant hatred. Hatred should be earned! I'll start (obviously):
I really like Cloud, from FFVII. It's true, I love FFVII and would easily be described by some as a "fanboy" but putting that aside, I think he gets a lot of hate that he just doesn't deserve. People say he's "too emo," which I find to be flatly untrue. For a character who'd been through what he has, he's pretty upbeat. He's actually kind of a goof: he makes lame jokes, he's uncharismatic, and he's somewhat clumsy. He's the exact opposite of the archetypal leader, but is often overshadowed by his far more zany companions. Really, the only time he ever get's really down in the dumps is 1) when Aeris dies, and 2) when he's tricked into believing his whole life is a total lie and he's not even a real person, AND THOSE ARE PRETTY GOOD REASONS TO BE UPSET. He even gets better by the end of the game, only to be inexplicably super-emofied by that god-awful movie.
I also like Cristian Bale's Batman. I admit, the voice is a bit strange, but it makes sense for him to hide it. He really does make a good Batman though; he plays the playboy aspect of Bruce Wayne very well, and is just as good at playing Batman. Bale is an asshole, no doubt, but he is a good actor and a good Batman.
I'll think of others when I'm not distracted by my roommate and his girlfriend's freakishly loud sex. >_<
This is basically all my opinion too.TheFinalFantasyWolf said:Cloud Strife : FFVII

I liked him in the game and the movie. (Yes the movie too!)
Raiden : Metal Gear Solid 2
Yes I said 2!When your entire life and mission is falling apart no matter the effort you put in, then yes, its ok to be upset. For some reason people always confuse a characters expression of feelings or any kind of frustration as being "whingy". Even if he (or any character) was whingy, whats wrong with that? I don't understand why people are so againest characters acting like actual human beings with feelings.
Tidus : He was alright, I dont get the hate for him either.
AH! Yes, I forgot about Nero, thankyou.nothingspringstomind said:This is basically all my opinion too.TheFinalFantasyWolf said:Cloud Strife : FFVII

These and Nero from DMC4. He cries *once* in the whole game and to be fair, it's for a pretty big reason. (like his entire life has been turned upside down.)
Yet everybody seems to think he's a whingy Emo.
Don't get it.
