Hitler's dead, silly. :p

If it was anybody else, like Rockstar or Bethesda, I wouldn't care. However, the Pope has a quite vocal opinion about the UN; he's specifically lowered funding to UN relief programs just because they include anti-AIDS humanitarian goods like condoms.

But then again, I might be reading too much into it.

The games stop just short of advocating genocide, IIRC. So they end up in train wreck territory. I honestly thought the company was in the process of shutting down, given their inability to move (litterally) tons of unsold product.
I was also starting to think that an RTS of Heaven vs Hell would be fun. Like the Southpark where God kills Kenny so he can command Heaven's forces when Hell decides to invade.
I want to say there actually was a Lucas Arts game back in the late 90s along these lines, though it was more simcity than RTS.

The Goodwin argument is kinda really really problematic in this case because Hitler WAS Christian. Now he's beyond dead, but, still.

In general however, Christianity is kind of in a weird state these days. On one hand the ideals it is based on, such as caring for the outcast are now handcuffed by bigotry and static views of the world, like the condom example above. On the other hand it is (well many branches of it are) still trying to achieve those ideals. Sorry, I'm rambling off into politics and religion territory, so I'll stop.

Seeing as the Left Behind games are specifically anti-UN (the main baddie is the Anti-Christ, and is also the UN's President), they will never see any sort of praise from me.

I'm very curious as to how Wal-Mart will handle the entire thing.

One of the co-authors is a John Bircher. So yeah, it is in fact, anti-UN. Well, anti a lot of things really but the UN for sure.

It only has "niche appeal" largely because they probably won't let you play as the forces of the Antichrist. I don't know about you, but that sounds like it would be a lot more fun.
Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne.
You'll thank me, and hate me, for it later.

One way or the other, my desire to avoid walmart at all costs makes me hate and loathe this story (as does my hate of RTSes in general), it's not even the fact it's a christian game, I could care less, gamers are gamers, it's that it's... well, walmart.
If you want to get your games to gamers... well... there's Gamestop.

I'm a Christian, and a game based on Left Behind *sounds* cool, but it really was awful from what I've heard.

To be honest, my view on Christian games is the same as Christian music. I don't care if it's religious, I just care if it's GOOD. If the latter arises from the former, then good for them. Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to have been the case for Left Behind.
I agree. And really why not cator to a huge segment of the US and for the matter the World. I say like LOTR and Narnia make something good with a message .. good job.. Just through a message on anything, you aint gonna win.

Here's all you need to know about the Left Behind games. They're so bad that they're the only game that the gaming universe at large agreed with Jack Thompson about in terms of them being bad/reprehensible.

Isn't the Bible sold in the non-fiction section?

There's always another way to preach, isn't there?
Yes, there is. What I want to know is why they're so bad at most of them.
Im not a religious person, and I dont enjoy being preached at, but they are good at it. Just because they arnt succsesful doesnt make them bad. Im sure youve had a convo with a non gamer trying to explain why games are fun, but if they dont want to listen then no mater how good your arguments are you wont get through. Same sorta idea

Left Behind Games...? Sounds exactly like what going to happen to this company. Way to go! If I owned any of their games I'd probably leave them behind too!

Considering the UN has the same business plan as Avon [http://www.avon.com/] and also no real authority, I would have to wonder why anybody who had designs on world control would want to be a part of that. Most of the countries that are members of the UN are behind in their membership payments, including the US, and those who don't belong just thumb their noses at anything the UN decrees. If there is one thing that was created out of the UN that actually does some good, it is the WHO, World Health Organization.
But as far as this, I do find the irony of a christian publisher using Walmart as their distribution avenue quite amusing. But not every game has to follow a set outline, and not every gamer plays the same games.
I do wish they brainstormed a bit more before coming up with the gameplay that was implemented. Maybe next time they might follow Hard Rain's model? That would seem to make more sense.

So let me get this straight, a game made by christian game developers about killing demons is fine, but when anyone else makes a game about killing demons it's considered glorifying Satan. I've seen people claim Doom is blasphemous when it's the exact same concept, you (the player) killing demons.

This double standard is so tragically (and ironically) hilarious.

Get used to double standards, for they will become so prevalent as to not mean anything anymore. Just because some Christian blowhards speak against games like Doom or Grand Theft Auto or such, it doesn't mean every christian follows their lead. It just means the blowhards wish people did follow their lead.
The Left Behind storyline is pure fiction, with references from the Bible and other works. The authors do not claim once that these novels represent the way it is going to be or how it should be. They were made just for entertainment for those people who would rather not engross themselves in the generic horror or graphic movies that are being put out today. It presents a choice for those people, and if you don't want to enjoy it, that is your choice.
I wait for when someone says that there is no room for Christian games. That person will have gotten the same membership in the group of hipocrisy and censorship that Jack Thompson and Michael Atkinson has. I hope many of you think about that before feeling free to blast this game.

Nice.

I find it kinda funny that they're looking to Walmart, though. If they REALLY wanted attention, they'd go to Gamestop. Though, from what I hear, their games are terrible. So most Gamestop shoppers would probably know better. Guess they have to settle for a place where not many people shop for games. Serves 'em right for not letting people play as the Antichrist.
