But at least there wasn't Kiano Reeves (probably spelled wrong but who cares?) in this movie.
"Dude...."~Kiano Reeves.
Its a real shame he played Ted, and the boyfriend in Parenthood... it got him typecast forever... He hasn't said "Dude..." in a movie for almost 16 years :p

Like the movies or not, at least the vampires in Blade were going to fuck you up. (You know, except the old fucker in the second one who managed to be an elder pussy vampire... WTF?) Or John Carpenter's Vampires. Or Vampire Hunter D and Bloodlust. They were bad fucking ass.

Enough with the pussification of our night stalking damned! Stand up against the sparkly bullshit menace with a silver fucking stake through his emo heart!

I think I have this it is because they have too much time and refuse to game enough!....I mean who has tiem with all the games that need to be beaten to sit there and get off at the thought of a rondom "Fake" guy I mean he isn't really like that! Just look at the other Actors in the movie....Tell them to go and "waste their time" playing video games and give up on him they wont get to him I can bet on that!

vampire literature is typically heavy stuff.

Young girls don't care for heavy literature.

Twilight is light literature (I use the term literature loosely, I'm aware, some people have strict standards for what can be called literature.. I don't, it's just a word).

Twilight is about Vampires

Young girls like light literature, and perhaps for reasons they don't quite understand, they like vampires.

Hence, young girls like Twilight.

That is not necessarily true in that Vampires and even light literature has nothing to do with young girls I think it has to do with the fact that they are beginning to feel the "Pull of LOVE!" the vile monster that, as my friend would say, plagues all humanity!
By this I mean the search for the perfect lover, if your look at how society takes and places those in the "spotlight". I used the term to mean those that are in high cost movies like twilight, and they super-impose the actions of a cute actor as a idea of how "he", in this case, should act and therefore their lover be like. As for me I have gotten dumped because of this, I might just be a little begrudging though!

Oh, I know I'm generalizing.. and not all girls go gaga for vampires.. but the ones that like horror are attracted to vampires, because vampires are primal dominators who attack by biting women's necks.. There is something in that that appeals to the lizard brain of women who tend to enjoy horror...

Girls don't typically go gaga over werewolves, or zombies, or ghosts, or mummies.. but they love a vampire, because you can write a romance novel about a vampire, and you can't write one about a zombie.

I can only speak from my own experience though.. maybe my female friends (and girlfriend) are all just crazy vampire lovers. There was someone a couple pages back talking about Alucard. She pretty much filled the generalization I'm making to a tee.

I stand by my hypothesis about the situation. Feel free to disagree :)

Because Edward is "perfect." That's all there is to it. It's personality/description word-porn.

And that movie about recycling and tits? Make it. I would watch that.
i noted the way edward acted in the film and i hardly think girls want a guy like that some one who stalks you, has mad mood swings between loving you and hateing you and to top it all off has told you he wants to eat you

It's a form of escapism for sad teenage girls who have an idealised view of romance.

experience dictates that that's exactly what a lot of girls want.

That only means he will beat on you later on. It's atrap. Don't trust pretty and sensitive boys, trust rugged drunken men. At least with them you know what you're in for.

If Stephenie Meyer did not make Edward a vampire, the book could have been a little better.

But NO. We get a 'sparkly, dazzling, shiny' vampire (who can only be killed by being cut up and thrown into a fire - whatever happened to the silver stakes?) who gets these massive changes of mind every two hours and can't help but stalk his girlfriend. What's more, we also get a very Gary Stu-Mary Sue couple and a heap of rabid fangirls.

I have to weigh in on this. As my first post to the escapist forums, allow me to introduce myself. My handle is The Schlub, and my real (first) name is Matt. As of writing this I am 21 years old.

Twilight is a book I despise because it represents the subjugation of youth to adults who have no interest in creating a generation of independent and free-willed youth, instead trying to corral them like cattle into these ideologies that generate unhealthy turmoil. I won't lie: I distrust Stephanie Meyer because she is a practicing Mormon, a faith I have reservations about, to put it gently. She has purposely injected many of her personal values into this book, and the auto-insertion-esque characters are designed to ensnare the most socially awkward and insecure portion of the human population: young teenage girls. I personally have nothing against young teenage girls, although they can be grating on the nerves at times. However, this frankly poisonous book paints an unhealthy and frankly dangerous picture of a romantic relationship, and the lack of maturity in the target audience causes the book to be regarded as irresponsible. Between the bipolar and abusive protagonist, the severely dependant and confused heroine, the ham-handed morality, and the failure to adhere to ANYthing remotely vampiric causes me to regard this tome as less as a book and more as Mormon teenage propaganda.

And with that, the bile-valve is shut. Thank you and goodnight.

clarification:

girls - relate to the books (i forget the girls name) and throw in a good looking cast they will love it a heck of a lot more.(good looking the lead male character..ya know he was in harry potter as well)

women - aren't insecure about themselves or relate to the book ( because we're old and have bigger breasts...ugh..i hate that word)

and so what that Stephanie meyer is a practicing mormon and its in the story it doesn't matter because teenage girls love the characters.we have all been teenagers and we have all liked something that's pissed a lot of people off.Idon't think its fair that everyone is knocking mrs (ms?) meyers work just because of the mormon thing..i really don't teenage girls care about that..because

''meh''

i am female...I'm not a teen...and its an ok film not great but ok =/

but if i had a choice of my teenage girl liking something I'd rather it would be this than the fucking jonas brothers.

ugh...i shouldn't rant when its this early...
