I have never played a cleric or bard. I'm not fond of the concepts, spell-lists, or class abilities. I like to nuke, crush, or outmaneuver my enemies in games.

As for races I don't play... I'm not fond of elves. I like an underdog or a character with something to prove, and elves usually don't fit those. If I want to play arrogant and condescending, I play a dwarf.

I avoid stealthier classes when possible. Simply because they rely on it, and are Mcweaksauce if they are seen.

As for what race I normally play I go with whatever gives me a bonus trait or perk towards the class I choose.

I tend to avoid dwarves, gnomes, halflings or whatever they are named, when possible. Simply because the armour more than often looks bad on them.

I never play as humans. I have to live as a human so whenever I get the chance to play as any other race I take it up. Recently I've taken up WoW and have only played Hoard except for one 5 hour play-through as a Dranei. I like Dwarves but I dislike Gnomes.

In terms of classes I'm always a rouge or, failing that, some flavor of damaging class (close range, never play as an archer or, shooter). I don't often tank and, I never play healing classes. I've recently begun to see the appeal of playing a mage. Where Magi are concerned though it's buffing that I do, like with the Warlock class. Strangely enough I don't like to play summoning classes (outside of Final Fantasy in which I always have a summoner in my party)

You can put me down as hating the Bards stupid "Any Non-Lawful" requirment. Obeying rules and following order makes me unable to play music? How does that work?

Never any ranged classes. I don't know, there's something I don't like about being away from my enemy. I don't want to run. I want to fight!

So that cuts out bows and arrows and magic. (Though if theres a combination of swords and spells, then I'm in.)

Man with big sword, if there is a choice I will almost never go for the just straight up big damage swordsman. I prefer playing a mage or rouge type, though not often a sneaky rouge. I end up failing and have to do hit and run fighting.

Warriors, or the equivalent "brute strength" races and classes, like the Soldier in Mass Effect. Hack and slash or being the tank has no real appeal to me, and I find it gets very boring very quickly.

I prefer being a rogue or mage, or a combination of the two.

In pen and paper RPG, I almost every time choose to make a warrior character.... We use to play a low fantasy setting, so a mage is very deadly, however he can be killed pretty fast too :)
In games, I play most of the time every possibe way... except Ranged attack with bow and arrow- they don't stick with me.

I don't play as dwarves for some reason.

Maybe it's cause I'm 6'4" and I find it hard to connect to my character...

I hate playing as straight magic users. But then again I generally don't like class systems in RPG's because I prefer a little flexibility in my characters. As for races, humans generally get the job done well enough.

Straight up Barbarians/Thump-thumps.
I've played technical warriors, leaders and all around badasses. I've also played everything else, but I cannot for the life of me enjoy playing "That dude who does nothing else but stack STR and hit things."

Hulking out is only fun once in a while. If you do it all the time, it becomes one-dimensional and boring.

As for races...

Well, it's not a race per say, but...children.
I fucking HATE the "Magical Girl" and "Smartass, 11 year old prodigy" tropes.
The only time I can imagine it really working out for me was Gau, and he was just your typical "Raised by wild animals" trope taken to the Nth degree.

Bards and other major buff classes. Fighty and explodey crossed with a little enhancement good, the act of only enhancing for the most part bad.

There are only two ways you could make me want to be the bard class. Either I have to rock the night like Donovan Deegan or I have to be The Bard Who Always Insults People.

usually the most magical kind. (wizard, healer) I usually pick like a tank warrior type, a rouge or a ranged type like an archerer. I know most rpgs have ALOT to do with magic but I like the strength type guys.

Barbarians-to mentally challenged
Tanks-to slow
Bards-to passive

I prefer aggressive/tactical Rouges
or damage mages

Hm... I haven't played an RPG in a while. But first answer is any of those races that don't have the female gender. As a female player, I prefer playing female whenever I could. Fighting games, I only played with the chicks. So yeah, if there's a race where you can't pick a chick, they're not an option.

As for classes... I dunno. My choice is usually impulsive. So I don't think I have a class I don't play.

For me, I view Rogues as cowards and thieves. And I tend to play more rule-abiding people. I also like to be more "up front" with power. Stelth has its bonuses, but it seems unfair not to give your foe a fair chance to fight back (Except if they greatly outmach you and are evil)
I think that's a bit harsh. I don't know who you have been playing with but rogues aren't built to be cowards. Thieves yes, what's the point of maxing out stealth if you can't steal stuff.

Besides they aren't overpowered either. Most of their good attack damage comes out of catching people off guard or flanking an opponent. If it's 1v1 or anything that isn't a humanoid creature rogues suck.

Rogues are typically chaotic neutral, for good reason. They live life to the fullest, free. They do what they want because being told what to do is boring.

I generally refuse to play any RPG as human. I play one in real life, RPGs are my way of forgetting I have a lame race.

You're not likely to find me playing a human. Why would I want to play as a human? I am surrounded by boring humans all day long, damn it! Thanks, but I'll pass. Give me something with oddly coloured skin - preferably blue, purple, grey or jet black. And bonus points if it's got horns. Everything is better with horns.

As for classes? I'll try anything at least once (I tend to prefer ranged, though).
