CoD is a very good game, we wouldn't be discussing it if it wasn't.

Tell you what, take back Black Ops and World at War (I'll be nice to Modern Warfare 2), release the maps as updates, and maybe release the game later on at a reduced price. and Voila! You have Team Fortress 2, a game that has been updates for four years (and still on going) and not completely ripping off its fanbase with multiple $15 map packs + releases year after year and will now charge for the privilege of stat tracking.
Elite is free, it's free stats are on par with all the other good stat trackers. Not that I should expect Escapist to know that.

I'm just gonna address this before I go on with the rest of my post:

[EDIT] I would like to quote a certain black Scottish Cyclops. "If I were a bad Demoman, we wouldn't be sitting here discussing it now would we?". Replace Demoman with CoD and you can pretty much get my point.
What he means, is that if he was a bad Demoman, he wouldn't be alive, and would not be able to talk to the person interviewing him. Because he would be dead.

Now that that mess is cleaned up, I'll get to the rest of your point.

The reason anyone talks about anything, is because it matters to them to a certain degree.
That is why I talk about religion, Jersey Shore, Justin Bieber, Country Music, and many other things I really really hate.
All of these topics matter to me because I'd rather they not exist, and I talk about them to bring up examples of how much better the world would be without these things, and how people who like them, must have something wrong with them (joking, they're not all bad).
So please do not get the impression that just because someone talks about something, that the thing they are talking about cannot be the worst thing ever. I talk about Naruto, and I think it is an extremely terrible anime with the worst fans ever. That doesn't make it good.

Back to CoD now. I will be buying MW3 because it looks like it will play like MW2, and have a revamped weapon/perk/map/combat system. The feel of the game looks like MW2, which I really enjoyed. Just like I am buying Skyrim because it looks like it has that Oblivion feel to it, but is getting revamped. I am not saying that it is Oblivion with a new skin, because they are changing a great many things with Skyrim as well as MW3. I just mean that I am buying it because it looks like a game I will enjoy.
I think that addresses all your concerns...
Oh, one more thing: you'll find there is a great deal of discussion value in topics that have a great deal of gray area. You won't get much discussion value out of a "The holocaust sucked" thread, but you'll get a brutal flame war if you say "Star Wars episode 3 is the best movie ever". Here on the internet, people are more likely to say "you are wrong" than say "you are right"

If you want to be taken seriously, stop talking bullshit. Don't try to talk your way out of being confronted when you state things that are obviously just utter crap.

Then me, and I imagine a lot of other people, will start listening to you.

OK! Ill take it out if that's what makes you happy. It was a bit incorrect to use it in this instance. But I did say after the quote that if you replaced Demoman with CoD it pretty much makes my point. It was kind of a disguised tl:dr
It really doesn't make me happy either way if you leave it there or not to be honest. I'd proabably crack a smile if you actually admitted it was wrong, which you still haven't done.

Also, no, just no. If you replaced 'Demoman' for 'Cod', it doesn't automatically make the sentence mean you want it to. It carries the meaning it originally intended which just doesn't support your point.

A TL:DR would've been something like; If Cod was so bad, we wouldn't discuss it as mucyh as we do.

So yeah, it was a 'bit incorrect' as you put it, it was just wrong to use it fullstop.

Again, basically what this guy is saying.

Stop dismissing people's objections to what you're saying just because you don't like it. Stop dodging the fact that most of what you've said has come straight out of your arse.

Im not saying the OP doesnt have possibly valid points about the BF3 single player, but im sure most people out there know and buy BF for its multiplayer, which is generally outstanding.
I have heard (note: Heard, since it's not out here yet) that the netcode is pretty bad and that it's very glitchy online. Certainly when I played the beta the netcode was pretty poor and had some issues.

OT: CoD is a pretty solid game. MW1 was pretty much a game changer, and was excellent. Since then it's stagnated. It's still well designed, but it's more or less the same game we had 4 years ago now. Maybe MW3 will change it up a bit. I hope the story isn't as shit as MW2 or, God forbid, Black Ops. And I hope the maps are as good as those of MW1, because since then each CoD has only had 1 or 2 good maps per game.

First off, your logic is slightly flawed. Call of Duty is talked about because it's a popular game, not because of its actual quality.

Second, the problem with COD is that there's a new one every year and people are getting sick of seeing the game over-and-over again. Also, there is some balancing issues, specifically with the dreaded noob-tube and the fact that the game rewards kills with more kills, encouraging a prey-on-the-weak strategy that really shouldn't be encouraged in a competitive environment.

Your logic is bullshit.
You can't claim to have an argument based on logic if your logic is crap.

It's not hard.
It's really not.

And no, I will not discuss your point. I'm going to bed.

Hugs and kisses.

Saying the person should take something out because you disagree is not a good way to argue. It's just so easy to say that you aren't admitting your right and if you did I would chuckle.

CoD MW is not a very good game it's an OK game so was CoD MW 2 only shorter and with even shitier story, the nuke thing in the 1st MW really was the only highlight. I think the story in Halo and Halo 2 is fucking stupid but I enjoyed it more then MW 1 and 2 and sotories. But maybe the multiplayer makes up the shortness and the silliness of the story, don't know, don't care. I think the brief campaing just gives the game an excuse to be full priced. Again I'm open to the idea that the multiplayer is good and entertaining if you like military shooters, but it really should drop the campaign and be like max 30 euros.

I think it gets dissussed because lots of people like it and there are people who disagree so it gets bashed.
The only one I played was MW2. I thought the singleplayer was so boring I couldn't even finish it (Theres only so many times I can walk into an area, shoot 500 guys and then walk to the next. Same gripe I have with DNF but at least that game was funny and did a lot of other things very right so I managed to trudge though it). The multiplayer was decent but not as incredible as everyone keeps raving about.
Now with that opinion in mind, imagine if people go about saying to you "You don't play CoD, Why not, the game is awesome!!" or even worse when I got told "You'd LOVE CoD, its exactly like TF2 but with better graphics" (The ignorance in that statement make me rage a lot more than usual) it doesn't take much till you get frustrated and that frustration skews your perception to "dammit what is wrong with these people. CoD Sucks ass  "

Based on that the solution would be to stop shoving it down peoples throats and raving about it. If someone doesn't like it that's their opinion and they are entitled to it so shut up. Keep your fanboyism in check and everyone will be happy (and that goes for EVERYONE)

Call of Duty is killing innovation, as blatant over hyped copycat campaigns flood the market (see: Homefront, Battlefield 3's single player, Crysis 2's multiplayer, Medal of Honor Reboot, Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops, Modern Warfare 3 etc.) I'd wish they all would just not sell and then it'll all go away (no chance of that, however).

Look people are annoyed at you and I should have looked at this first as you have possibly just made this topic for flamebaiting or to be a generic CoD defender. So what if someone doesn't like what you don't like. I love JRPGs as much as WRPGs but you don't see me making threads about them with faulty logic.

Now to point out the fault in your logic. You seem to think that something well received is a controversial and well discussed topic which is generally true but the logic does not work in reverse. Something well discussed is not necessarily good. This is something you have completely ignored and refuse to accept which is just furthered by you actually discussing your logic in the thread without actually really discussing with anyone actually indulging you and engaging with the topic.

So your logic is faulty and you are slightly derailing your own thread.

My question to you escapees is. If CoD was a technically terrible franchise, would any of you even be talking about it?
My question to you: Do you believe Rebecca Black is good?

The notion that quality is ensured by popularity or multiple iterations is pretty much bull.

People talk about CoD because COD4 was a good and vaguely innovative game. The sequels haven't really added much, with the exception of money to the publishers' bank accounts, and rage to the internet.

Mind you, the BF series is much the same, it reached its zenith with BF2 and hasn't really produced a game as good since.

Yep, that storm has definitely come. Seems like noone on here can debate about CoD without throwing around insults and missing the point.

Cod has never really been shit, but it suffers from the same thing Halo does, which again is not shit...

Each new game does very little to stand out from the last, with the exception of Cod 3 -> Cod 4.
Since then how ever, it has been the same game more or less with upgraded graphics and different armory.

I didn't make this topic for either of those. I made it to give a point out and try to get some friendly debate in. You pointing out the flaws in my logic is fine, but when people just shout "your logic is bullshit" doesn't really earn them much of my respect.

The point: Modern Warfare 1 was a decent game. Still doesn't excuse everyone and their pet dog (Activision and EA especially) from copying it and making a hash of it.

I am sick and tired of identikit, QTE-infested linear corridor manshooters. And identikit military multiplayer manshooters with near-instagib levels of weapon damage where you have to unlock even the most basic of equipment, for that matter.
