Slave the HDD and scan for viruses, or use a bootable CD. Problem solved. Total time invested, about 2 hours.

My baby recently got a bad malware (Dell XPS). Thanks to about 6 hours of work, I kicked that malware off. It was rreally, really, bad. Now my baby runs like it's new again.

I've never lost a computer to viruses, although I came pretty damn close once a few years ago after my PC was flooded by viruses Norton couldn't detect and Malwarebytes couldn't totally remove. Thankfully I was able to download and install Avast, though, and after a day or two of letting it run a massive scan and delete anything that was remotely infected, my PC was back to normal.

For some odd reason, all of our computers get virus's with in their first days, but after we clean them up, they don't come back... Weird I know. We haven't lost any computers to virus's but my Brothers computers have many a virus on them, so he rarely turns them on.

When I was just a young boy who's age was still lower single digits and the majority of sites I visited where about dinosaurs and wrestling one of my uncle's friends decided to give us free anti virus control. From what I remember that program actually had quite a few viruses on it but they only activated on my one because it was pretty old allready. But now my precious laptop hasnt had anything. I have had a few notices about harmful attacks that have been stopped by norton but that's about it.

I've known how to reformat a computer since I was twelve. I've had to reformat about three times due to viruses but it was a shared desktop computer between three people. Now, I'm on a laptop simply to myself which has been virus free since '08.
The first computer I ever owned, purchased for my sister and I at about the age of 8 or 9, must have been overrun with viruses. It certainly eventually became so slow that even moving the cursor required a loading time. Back in those days my cousin (age 13 or so) introduced young-me to the glory of NAPSTER and subsequently ARES, which according to him meant I could download anything and everything for free all the time. I was a kid and had only a vague and developing notion of the workings of computers, so I downloaded tons of stuff-- mostly Video Game music and whatever games or programs I could find.
I'm sure that some viruses found their way onto that machine. After we scrapped that computer and got a new one, however, I was much wiser in the ways of the internets and have managed to avoid getting any viruses on my PCs. I did somehow get one on my work computer once, and I'm still not really sure how that happened, but Tech Support quickly came along and exchanged it for a new one.

i got one that did not let me open internet explorer but i found a way around it by downloading google chrome. then it kind of disappeared...either that or it's dormant. i'm gonna go with 'gone' for piece of mind's sake

heres my reasoning, comes within programs we do want and potentially blocks content unless we accept its terms, it randomly crashes and effectively serves to damage our computing experience and if given the choice to use it or not most would say not. these are the things that make me feel gfwl should be included somewhere on this page.

Yes you can, there are viruses that can send too much voltage to the motherboard, cpu, or even gpu which will completely destroy the part rendering it useless. Although you don't have to worry so much about it, because attacks like that are usually only done to certain people who have pissed off someone who knows what they're doing.Sougo said:
