From what I've seen, there's more PC elitists (who have there own war revolving around OSs) than console elitists. As for console gaming vs pc gaming, I can honestly say that neither are better. They both seem to have their own problems. If you don't have a gaming pc, you need so many different tweaks. Consoles have exclusives (this might eventually go away soon). PC's and consoles both crash. As for controls, it depends on what you get used to, and even then you can learn to use the other. Go for what works for you and get over you slight insecurities that cause you to either defend or attack consoles/pcs.

It never was valid. And if people would spend more than $400 on their computers when they buy them, those computers would outlast any console ever put on the market (I've gone through 3 ps3's, 2 360's, and 5 ps2's in the last 3 years while the same pc has outlasted them all and sees more use in a day than my consoles see in a week.)

Like with everything else, you get what you pay for.

Each platform has it's issues, sometimes games wont work on PC till you do some tinkering/updating which can be very annoying but but at the end of the day, you have more options, and they'll look better.

360 charges a lot for DLC and it's digital games, if it breaks you have to send it in or buy another.

PS3 has to update every other day and it takes 20min-30min depending on if the system AND the game you need to download/unzip/install the download.

The Wii can't be plugged in to the internet unless you buy a separate adapter, even then others will have lagg issues, you can't voice chat in most games, there's no HD.

I think it's because people don't have the patience to learn how to build a Pc, so they buy a console because A)it's cheaper, B)they don't want to fiddle with any wires, C) some console exclusive that they must have or D) It was a gift, and it works fine.

And that's why they play consoles, cause they play the games just fine. My first build was so frustrating cause I didn't have the necessary know-how I was contemplating just buying an xbox. Now building computers is my hobby, and whenever a friend needs help with a computer I'm glad to help. One of the first things they say to me when I start explaining the ins and outs of their computer is "I should have just gotten a Ps3, so much simpler."

So yeah, people get consoles because they're simpler and if something goes wrong they can blame someone else. You might enjoy Pcs better because if something goes wrong you have the know-how to fix it.

This makes me want to go to Arcade Infinity and play some Gundam games. Aside from my urge now to go to an arcade nowadays it's difficult what with popular games being made available for both Console and PC. It's not about what system the game is on but the love for the games. It's not "I HATE YOU BECAUSE YOU DON'T LIKE CONSOLES" or "YOU SUCK BECAUSE YOU DON'T USE A PC"...it's that "WE LOVE GAMES"...simple as that.

PC gaming works grand, otherwise I wouldn't be doing it. A bit more effort sure, but the payoff is usually better.

Fuffy is right, it has never been a valid argument.
Actually a PC would be better to have a glitch on than a console, because you can almost certainly count on either the community or developer to make a patch to fix it.
If there is a game breaking glitch on a console, you have to wait for a developer to make a patch.....that is IF they decide to even make one.
A PC just has more versatility.

Hardware wise they are inferior to PC's built 4-5 years ago. The RSX GPU in the PS3 is based off nVidia's GeForce 7 series...

Anyways, i'm an elitist PC gamer and loath console users for what they've caused the likes of Epic Games and EA to become. Hate me for it if you want but I can guarantee if half of 360/PS3 users could afford to build a high end gaming machine and run games at 1920x1200 with 8xAA in proper (X-Fi/Xonar) 5.1 surround sound they would.

Personally, the only reason I used to like consoles so much was that you literally just put in the cartridge, CD, etc. and the game started up. You were playing the game within a few minutes, unless it was a MGS game, then you'll begin playing after 20 minutes of expository dialogue and movie. Now that games need to be installed from the disk to even run right in a lot of cases I think consoles have lost their appeal to me. The thing that I guess is still nifty is that you're probably not going to have to worry about viruses when you're patching or updating things. Maybe I'm wrong.

I've owned 3 X360s now. 1 red-ring and one general fuck up and I tossed it before it went all red-ringy. I have a 3rd now that I NEVER use oh and finally no Live anymore

This is why I'm still a PC gamer and always will be. They actually fuck up waaaaay less. Oh and PCs doesn't sound like helicopters. Most often PC also gets better versions of the games. Like DA:O, Fallout 3 and such. Oh and we have the superior games since before the next-gen consoles (current gen I mean).

I like playing PC's cause everyone starts griefing the squealers until they leave, and if you cant teamkill in the game people start switching teams to kill them. Its pretty funny

Also my favorite argument (which isn't valid anymore with the advent of HDTV's) was when a console gamer would tell me that consoles had better graphics... to which i would explain how the maximum 480x640 resolution coupled with lossy coaxial cables couldnt even compete with a vga cable... and then i would take my computer and my n64 and show them the difference. And then they would start to fanboy and say they still like consoles more

On the other hand my brother recently got a ps3 and while most of the games he has are kinda boring i did like MGS4 and Little Big Planet.

Also if you haven't played on a PC with proper gaming peripherals (eg logitech g5/g15) or at the very least a wired LASER (not optical) mouse you aren't allowed to complain about the controls. Otherwise I get to complain that consoles have bad controls after i poured honey all over the buttons and joysticks.

EDIT: Also if you take care of your computer it shouldn't EVER crash. My last 3 computers only ever crash after I stress test them (and crashing means it finished the test lol).. also there was one issue with TuneUp 2007 Memory Optimizer and FarCry where if it was running and you tried to load a level the computer would BSOD and give you and empty memory dump.

Well that's never been my argument against PC gaming. My argument (and this is only because I can't afford it, if I could I'd be a PC gamer) is that the PC required for modern day games costs a lot. For me it's just not an option, and I expect for many students/people who don't earn that much/spend that much on a PC it is the same. £1000-£2000 is a lot of money.

Have to admit, I was a little concerned when I saw this thread but it's not bad at all.

Anyway, never seen anyone talk down PC gaming before other than the PC gaming is dying but of course we all know that's a load of crap. Well it depends, you either have a good computer or you don't, sure you usually don't have to worry about hardware and software on the console but if you know your shit it's no problem and most people these day's will be on the internet so it won't take long to learn.

As for me, I play both but I usually prefer my RTS and FPS on a computer and everything else on the console, that doesn't go for every game but in general.

How so? I own one and for the rare times I want to play with a controller with a GFW-supported game, it was just as effortless as my PS3 or roommate's Xbox 360.
