A most humorous point and image.

Noobtubery is still a billion times more annoying, though. People have to be close to kill you with the knife. They can be ANYWHERE and kill you with the noobtube.
That's it in a nutshell. People don't look into the air at the beginning of the match and throw a knife across the map to kill someone after they've run about ten feet. (Well, maybe in Black Ops, but that would actually take a bit of skill.)

I've had enough of CoD. I loved the original Modern Warfare but everything since then has stripped the franchise of anything approaching strategy. Battlefield 3 is getting my money.
battle field 3 has strategy? i played the beta and all it was is camping ON BOTH SIDES i haven't had a match that went passed the first rush objective in days nobody even goes for the objective they only care about kills hell i just played a guy that went 58-15 capping his ass off and on the LOSING team. not to mention you die faster in BF than cod and don't regen health as fast makes for some real BS camping.
I hate to break this to you, but "camping" is a fallacious accusation. Battlefield is about taking and holding positions. If you want to play a game where everyone bunny hops out in the open and BXR's each other then go play Halo. It's like criticizing Star Craft for not being a first person shooter. If someone is holding down a position then you should pop a smoke grenade and try to outflank them. Just don't complain when you run out in the open mindlessly and die.
what makes you think i did just "run out and mindlessly die" last i checked none of my kits had any sort of smoke grenades available to me, also since battle field seems to lack special grenades like flash-bangs that was also an option i couldn't use but would certainly have done, and flanking? you think i didn't try? i certainly did however every approach i tried was either covered by said camper or else infested with the other side. this happened on the first set of objectives and the other teem some how manged to get themselves all over our default spawn and get to nice camping spots of their own while my idiot teem placed a Mobile spawn point past the two objectives and the Mobil spawn was pretty much the only place to spawn since my squad was sitting on top of it any way there was nowhere else too spawn. either with them and come under fire as soon as you spawn or else spawn far away, alone and surrounded by campers in the bushes. yes i tried both. multiple times. it was so bad when we did get the plants off nobody on their teem even tried to defuse them they were to focused on kills, that how we won. they did the same thing with the other points. all they did was find spots and camp for kills and not mind the objectives.

TL:DR version. they were not "holding objectives" they were camping for kills and only kills and they didn't care if they lost.
Well it sounds to me that the problem is the people you're playing with, not the game. I can assure you that there are smoke grenades and all sorts of other equipment. Remember it was only a beta. I didn't have any of those problems when I played. No one seemed to be using their mics but we were still coordinated enough to attack and defend. it sounds like you were just very unlucky and had bad teammates. If one team is well coordinated and the other isn't then you're screwed, but that's true of pretty much anything.
to which i mostly agreed, however even if this was a beta the fact that this situation was just the absolute worst i had ever been it wasn't the ONLY instance of terrible team work. any way it just a disappointment because this game had been paraded as the teamwork heavy CoD killer but it really is not all that different and personally i found i did a hell of a lot worse when i was doing nothing but helping the team, i died most often trying to revive down players or defuse objectives it just served to almost DISCOURAGE team work, and when one team did so WELL while still losing the game... just disappointing. i game the game hopes that it would be really different than CoD. it wasn't different enough in most areas, and the ones that were were just worse. lost my interest pretty well, if i'm going to get a game so similar to CoD than i might as well pass it up and get COD instead.

i've played with both tactics, and i fine the knifing machine build is more fun and gratifying. Also requires more patience ^-^ More patience doesn't equal more skill but its is much harder to end with a high K/D ratio than say noobtubing!

on the other hand i noobtube high places and snipers, as in using it for its intended purpose. But thats back in COD4 days.

Well, remember that we didn't even get to use vehicles and who knows what else was missing. The point of the beta was just to work out bugs and to see if anything is really imbalanced. Plus, I think most people were just trying to get as many points as possible, when the real game comes out there will probably be a lot more teamwork. Not to mention the fact that the map was quite small by normal battlefield standards. So I wouldn't put too much stock into it. If you feel iffy about the game then rent it before you buy it, but I feel pretty confident that the actual game will be much better than the beta.

No joke: I once had some 9 year old and his friend bitching at me because all I ever use are assault rifles. Not a specific attachment. Not a certain perk-combo. Just the fact that in general I use nothing but assault rifles.

And yes, I know I'm only what....2 months late to the conversation? :3
