^the guy you quoted: sounds like someone's hp doesn't have a graphics card...
still, its main peice is natural enviroments, and no matter how good an engine is, its the artists whom will make/break the visuals.

Wow that was pretty epic. Now I just need to take out a fifty thousand dollar loan to get a computer that could do that on that level.

I really wish my computer could run that.
Sadly, I don't have a good enough computer.

I have to admit, I did notice a significant difference between the PC and console versions of the Engine... I was all "ZOMG that looks amazing, I want those graphics on my PS3!!!" then I saw the PS3 version and went "oh"...

Does look like PC will have the definitive experience here... along with a definitive price tag, hee hee... Ok I'll stop risking flame wars now >_<

Meh, who needs graphics.
If you ask me they're the least important factor of a game
when you are running they cry3ngine, the graphics do less face humping and more /apply Jackhammer to mind

its a game engine designed to make your mind detonate upon first glance

plus being able to render a game in full 3d beauty that you almost forget you are playing a game is worth it

I started drooling about halfway through. I started crying tears of joy 3/4 of the way through.

Don't get me wrong, photorealism is a difficult thing to make, but it didn't much showcase the possibility for creativity in the trailer. For example, how does it fair with cell shading and model outlines?

Good. Once photorealism has been achieved, we'll finally have everyone focused on good coding and story elements instead of shiny new graphics engines, drastically improving the quality of our games.

(Not that they aren't already pretty good: it's just that I'd like to see a fundamental shift in game design to better accompany story and emotional impact: aka, the Bioware/Team ICO route.)
problem: your thinking too narrow, as photorealism for say, FPS may be achieved, but games like Dynasty Warriors and RTSes will still be aiming for that

Looks incredible.

I just have to stay alive long enough to see games looking like that on my screen.

Meh...

Meh = so incredibubbly stricken in awe that it has not only reached my 'awe' limit, but exceeded it and then flipped around to become a 'meh' again.

OH.MY.FUCKING.GOD. GOD HAS TOUCHED THIS ENGINE!

I swear, the character looks like a person's head being rotated! I was confused when I thought they just put a random human head in real life just for fun!

That was impressive, to say the least. I'm pretty amazed at the destruction physics and the fire and water effects. Something tells me this video might give a certain Mr. Bay an idea for a new career direction. . . Oh God, No!

Do you realize how much efficient coding you need to get an engine to just render this stuff at a solid 30fps? Hell, I probably don't realize how efficient they need their coding to be just to run the engine to render a damn crate.

I personally think that upgrading graphics diffuses into upgrading gameplay and story, blah blah blah. If you make a highly atmospheric game, that diffuses into the gameplay where it has to accomodate for the feel to it, and the story has to fit the scenario.

Of course, that's just my theory, but I think it's highly evident in PC gaming where pushing graphics allows more advanced parts to be made, and henceforth more content being pushed, ect....

Also,

HOT DAMN THAT'S NERD-GASM WORTHY.
