I thought Crysis's story was ok. Its a fun sci-romp, none of that pretentious realism that most modern FPS now have.Furburt said:I wholeheartedly agree, I thought that COD4's story was, while a little over the top, certainly plausible. MW2 was almost a GI Joe episode it was so ridiculous. And I've heard it advertised as a 'Gritty, realistic combat simulator'. Oh dear. That dude said:He went on to say that Modern Warfare 2 is a "massive step down from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare"
Still, it remains to be seen whether this is just industry bitchiness, or if his product actually delivers a better story. If it's anything like Crysis 1, then he has no right to complain.
And thats only because he is basically Jason StathamStarke said:I hope so... To be honest, at least they made Psycho interesting in the expansion pack, but I'm pretty sure he's the only character in the franchise at this point with any personality.Decoy Doctorpus said:You know what? I quite enjoyed it. The overall plot arch was absolutely bananas but the characters themselves were generally pretty well written and some well chosne voice actors really helped bring them to life. Crysis (yes I know Morgan didn't write Crysis but when you're the lead writer on the sequel comparisons are going to get made) suffered the exact opposite problem. Crysis had an interesting well paced story (they really ramp up the anticipation when it comes to the aliens) populated by the most boring, unimaginative characters possible.
I wonder if Morgan can make Crysis 2 into interesting.
Yes, yes they would.Booze Zombie said:Would they really use that cliche, too?Rainboq said:Bet you anything Shepard comes back, albiat missing an eye
It does, and this childishness is a big part of why the gaming industry doesn't get taken seriously in the larger entertainment industry. Combine that wit horrifically bad writing and a lot of people who don't know how to craft entertainment (as aside from making games) at the various helms and a stigma of games from the 70s and 80s in popular thought (for example look at Michael Ironside's perception of games [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/99686-Splinter-Cell-Voice-Actor-Doesnt-Like-Violence]) and games start to look like the red headed stepchild of entertainment.Terramax said:Since when was it socially acceptable for video game companies to take pot shots at other ones? The same way people laud Bioware, without really offering any concrete defenses. I've got a theory, but I've never actually tested it. The idea is, people are more committed, and thus, more willing to defend, the stories in games because of the effort required in experiencing them. The player, at some level is more likely to sympathize with their game protagonist because they've (sort of) shared some of their experiences.Mazty said:How can people really disagree with MW2 having a bad storyline? Facts are it makes no sense and is implausible....Not really any room for debate as the article suggests.
Jason Statham, so awesome he makes other unrelated characters better.johnman said:And thats only because he is basically Jason StathamStarke said:I hope so... Honestly, Operation Flashpoint and ARMA let you do that in the editor fairly easily...ma55ter_fett said:Yes, yes it did.
Aside from helicopters falling from the sky, MW2's campain held no enjoyment for me.

...Wu?[/quote]Yeah, that was surprisingly less coherent than intended. Personally I haven't played MW2, so someone could ask that question honestly if they haven't played it.SomeBritishDude said:I didn't want to pay $10 an hour to find out how bad the SP was, and I don't play multi?Starke said:...Is someone even asking this question?SomeBritishDude said:[quote/]Is this just one man's opinion, or did Modern Warfare 2 really disappoint as far as the single-player game goes?
What? There's tons of people (myself included) who thought the story was stupid as hell. Just because people play the game's multiplayer a lot doesn't mean they think the story was any good. The game just had gigantic plot holes.Tom Goldman said:The world doesn't seem to have the same opinion as Morgan, or care as much, considering how people have already played Modern Warfare 2 for 200,000 years [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/99811-Modern-Warfare-2-Players-Log-200-000-Gameplay-Years] on Xbox Live alone up to this point.
