"Crysis 2 Writer says Fallout 3 is 'short and simple" :D

Anyway, as has been said, it's all very good dissing Halo, but maybe once (and if) Crysis 2 is recieved by the public as very well written.
I don't really agree with his opinion, yes, Halo's no Bioshock, but it's also no AVP.
At the end of the day, I own all three to have fun shooting things. Yes, the story and the way it was told in Bioshock was a very big plus, and the tenseness of AVP was also a plus, same with Halo's music, but I was mainly focusing on the shooting, as i'm sure most people were.

This somehow implys there is a story to Crysis 2? HA! Good one...

Also, Mr. Chalk, why censor the title if you don't censor the content therein?

Crysis 2 Writer: Crysis 1 is "Full of Bullsh*t"

Ooh, sorry. I read that wrong.

I know he didn't write the first, but he's still in no place to comment. The first Crysis was absolute shite storyline-wise. Pretty, but shite.

why would I argue something that's 100% unrelated to my point?
Because then it would relate to the topic (a.k.a. the cited interview) in the first place?

edit:

How many people actually buy online shooters for the story mode?
Well, I bought Modern Warfare 2 for the single player campaign and co-op. Needles to say the singleplayer part was a huge letdown. If a game has a singleplayer option it has to be ready to be judged by it.

FPSs designed to sell to frat boys and ten year olds are suppose to have storylines? OMG..

Kinda agree with this guy though.

This guy really needs to shut up - everybody knows games like Halo and Modern Warfare 2 aren't the best written things in the world, but they don't need to be. The primary draw of these games is the gameplay; well over half the people who play them on a regular basis couldn't care less about how poorly written the stories are.

The man talks sense. Although if Crysis 2's story turns out to be crappy then he is no better than Halo's writer.

Maybe I'm just looking at this different. Let's take me for example: I'm not a published writer, and while I think I'm good, I know I need improvement. Does that make my opinion on someone else's writing less valid because my own writing isn't up to snuff?
No, but you are not publicly calling out another writer a few months prior to your own work being published.

Everyone has the right to an opinion, but if you are going to insult (not criticise) someone's else's hard work then it's a good idea to make sure yours is better first.
You're right, everyone is entitled to their on opinion, the difference is, yours is, objectively wrong.

The writer of Mass Effect 2 for example would be well within his/hers rights because it is already widely known as a game with amazing writing. Crysis 2 is yet to prove itself.
Again. Accounting for the fact that this is your opinion, it is, objectively wrong. The easiest way to examine this actually comes from Richard Morgan, who observed: "It made no sense. It was totally implausible. It doesn't resolve. Basically, all the things that bad storytelling does. I just think they were way too impressed with themselves and that's always a danger. It's just unfortunate." (He was talking about MW2, but ME2 suffers from the same problems.)

He can say what he likes, but if he can't do better then he shouldn't expect to be taken too seriously.
Given that I know you can't do better, I guess you can expect to be taken exactly that seriously.

Though, on second thought, given that he is, you know, a published author, and you are, you know, not. I would suspect that based on your scale of "being taken seriously" he's a more credible source than you.

Or for an answer that is worded much better:
Andraste actually makes a pretty good point there. You might want to learn from it, Machines.

Well he seems to be on a crusade. MW2 and now Halo.

And although I agree with him on what he says, just dels like he is blowing smoke out his backside now and making himself seem superior.

I mean... Crysis isn't a modern masterpiece either of writing and plot...
In fairness, this guy didn't write Crysis, he's just responsible for Crysis 2.
Yes, but if you're writing for a company that is renown for very pretty sandboxes with either no story or a very, very bad story stuck on, it'd be best to write a good story and prove it than just insult related games.

I look forward to seeing what he can bring to the gaming world

Now, while I'm not inherently disagreeing with him, I hope he doesn't make this a habit.

Because if Crysis 2's story turns out to suck, he's going to be the laughing stock of the industry.
