Cult Classics That Suck

I'm gonna get hurt over this, I just know it.

Firefly. Yes, I said it. Now I'm not saying it's really bad, but why in god's name does it have such a following?!? It's 14 episodes with NO connecting plot, sub-par writing, and admittedly good acting. Now I love the sci-fi genre, it's my favorite by a mile, but based on those 14 episodes I just can't understand what's so damned good about it. Nathan Fillion is awesome, as is the rest of the cast, but is that really all that makes people love this show?

Now, I think I'm going to go hide somewhere the flames can't reach me.

There are a lot of non-cult classics on this list.
I hesitate to put No More Heroes (though it does seem like a cult classic) on this list because it was so overrated by all the critics.

Really I think most cult classics suck. They just end up marginally popular because quite a few people like it.

Earthbound. It's become hugely overrated in recent years. It's not a horrible game, but it's nowhere near as good as some people like to pretend. Plus, I hate the fact that Mother 2, is basically just the same as Mother, but with character new names, a very similar plot (with slightly higher number of 'mandatory to beat the boss' things to collect) and updated graphics.

Grrrrr........

Actually, the reason why it's so bad, is because it's an homage to old Ray Harryhausen special effects films of the 50's like Jason and the Argonauts. Everything cheesy and badly made about it is on purpose.
I know it was bad on purpose, it's just that everything bad about it wasn't bad in a good was like the first two movies. It seemed like it was trying to be bad, when the first two were just... bad. And that's why I liked them.

But that's not to say I didn't like Army of Darkness. It was just so hyped up by everyone that I was kind of disappointed.

I tried to play Fallout 1 and 2 after hearing the immense praise levelled at them, It didn't work out.

Earthbound

I couldn't get into it when I was kid, I can't get into it now. Fact is there were simply better RPGs at the time
People never liked it for the RPG elements.

I hate so many that it's unbelievable, here's the few I can name off the top of my head: Hammerin' Hero, Persona 1, Devil Survivor, Tokyo Beatdown, Crackdown, Phantom Brave, Xenosaga 2 (although I didn't play too much), Space Channel 5 for the PS2, and the list goes on.

Phantasy Star, if that counts. I just can't get into it no matter how hard I try I just can't stand the hands off battle system.

While were on the subject of cult classics I also hate Rocky Horror.

Still, not as bad as those who say Firefly is bad. There's a special hell for them.
I see what you did there. I still say Firefly is bad, but I see what you did there.

I know I am going to be hated for saying this but fallout, I played fallout 3 before 1 and 2 and when I tried to play just couldn't get into it. Turn based combat is dying for a reason.
Same, I couldn't even figure out the controls, 3 was WAY better
