I had a similar meh attack.

Currently playing Baldur so I'm having fun. I needed a more challenging game.

May soon re-start playing Arcanum too.

Yeah, I've got the DA 2 blues. Because I'm not currently playing the game.

I think it's awesome, having more fun with it than I ever did with Origins. Sarcastic Hawke + Varric = best duo, ever.
Agreed, also enjoying Anders' snarkyness, though the two really clash with Averline so I have given up on trying to make her happy.

For those of you, like me, who recently bought a game and have been hit by a "meh" attack, name a game or two that really caught your attention and you thoroughly enjoyed.

DA2 isn't a bad game, but to me it feels so much like a MMO that I don't care what happens and I can't be bother to pay attention. I am dedicating this thread to people like me who need something riveting and fun to bring us out of our funks.

An oldie, but a goodie: Portal is one game that really caught my attention, partially because it was so good, and partly because I had no idea it would be so fun. I am really hoping they can catch the magic again in the upcoming sequel.
Go find a copy of Baldur's Gate II. It's the penultimate cure for any lingering disappointment from DA2. The reason? Because it's everything DA2 should have been but wasn't.
I think you should look up the definition for penultimate before using that word again, unless you consider it the second last possible cure for disappointment. Ie: it's practically the worst cure available.

After the giant tub of mediocrity that was DA2, I went back to replay DA:O. Though after about 5 hours of playing that I was struck with a "meh" attack by it as well. For some reason I can only play a Bioware game once and then never again. Whenever I try to play it a second time it just dawns on me what a fucking chore the gameplay feels like.

I have yet to come out of me Bioware funk.

Alien Hominid HD came with the tagline "it'll make your console happy again!" I bought it based on this line, and while the gameplay is dull and inspiring, it's charm levels are high enough that it certainly makes me smile. A lot. The homicidal alien is fucking adorable.

This :D

Anyways other games... Have you tried Divinity 2? it has a bit of the MMO feel to it too, but its quite different from DA, I quite liked it.

Same here, the ending in particularly crushed me due to how contrived it was and how little option or choice I had to effect the outcome. It does not matter if you support Templars or Mages.
I thought it was a great effort for 1 year of work, but it was mediocre and a UTTER failure when next to its big brother, Origins.
EA is to blame for forcing Bioware into churn this out LONG before it was ready.

Deadly Premonition for the Xbox 360. It's the best worst game. Not even being ironic. It's legitimately great. And affordable!

Ive been having a bit of a bluestorm recently (if thats not a thing it should be)

I finally finished Persona 3: The Journey, and loved it, wanting to play it over again instantly. Then I started The Answer, and was interested all the way up to the second Dungeon. Then I found out the game is one big grindfest, with a lot of the Persona 3 content removed. So I put that down at the end of the second dungeon.

The I started playing SMT: Digital Devil Saga, because I was really interested in it. Got half an hour in before declaring the game shit and thorwing it to the wayside (putting it on my shelf.)

So I busted out Magna Carta, which had picked up for cheap the other day. I didnt expect much, and thats exactly what it delivered. Its not a bad game, and its fighting sequences are pretty interesting, but it has a lot of glaring flaws that just piss me off.

So I started playing Assassins Creed 2 for the first time. Im really enjoying it. Theres nothing like poisoning a guard on a busy street, then attracting people with coins, and watching the result.

How far are you in? I just finished. Epic 50 hour gaming week for me. I think I put twelve hours in on Saturday.

Hmmm, perhaps I shouldn't be admitting to that... ;)

No "meh" here: I'm loving DA2. Maybe they shouldn't have called it "2" and set up expectations of a direct sequel; maybe "Dragon Age: Champion of Kirkwall" would have been better. But I'm digging this episodic open-world thing they're going for. With more work and polish (the recycled dungeon maps do get annoying), you have a base setting that could be used to support DLC episodes for months--kind of like an MMO, but with interesting story and characters and not needing to play with other people or pay subscription fees. Could be a new model for console titles in the future.

But after I finally finish a playthrough, I think I'll finally get around to the new Assassin's Creed DLC.

I just left the deep rodes and have been summoned by
the Arishok

I'm actually rushing through it as fast as I can, but for good reason. Will explain soon ;)

Oh and yeah, I'm loving it. It's no ME2 but it's a lot of fun and you were right, it's MUCH prettier than DA1 ( I loved the conversation in game about how brown Ferelden was :D )

DA:2 hit me with a big "meh" so i'm finishing up Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines as a Bloodmage Sniper. Completely different from my last character who was a speed freak karate expert.

I dont know why people who are happy with dragon age 2 are even posting on this thread.
Isnt this a thread for people who see it for what it is, a disgrace of a game and the destruction of an IP? We get it you like it now go to your own threads.

Try Draken Song River of Time it got RPG OF THE YEAR in europe and its based on DND rules kinda.
We'll go where we want thanks commander

OT: I loved DA2 but i play quite a few games so meh attacks are the norm (especially after buying killing floor) but I can always plug in Halo 2 and knock off the single player on normal or heroic if im brave and feel wayyyy better
