flying...It had to be flying! Damas thought as he vomited for the seventh time.

well, at least the village is back! that's a start. Damas then proceeded to begin to pick himself back up and head in the direction of the village inn.

Damas was rather pleased with himself. It was his lightning that had stunned Dran long enough for Naara to placate the guardian.
But noooooooo. Big hero Naara gets all the glory whilst yours truly gets the shaft. As always.
He didn't quite know where to go now. He had no family in the village, he didn't truly classify any of his team mates as "friends", so he was at a loss.
what to do, what do do. I'll go sit by the fountain, maybe that'll help me sort out what I want to happen with myself. It's in the centre of town anyway, so I'll surely see the others at some point
Damas proceeded to walk in the direction of the fountain, where he began tossing pebbles in, losing himself in his thoughts

I spoke with the mayor, and he thanked us all for our efforts. I left the office and saw Damas sitting at the fountain. I approached him cautiously.

"Hey, what's up?" I said.

I didn't like this at all. everyone was acting all smoochy but there was still a huge dark genie to kill. but being with this genie's arch enemy was not part of my staying-alive plan. we needed to think of something fast and Naara needed to man up. we had been lucky that we could defeat Dran and even more lucky that he told Naara how to use the sword. But luck wouldn't hold forever.

Damas saw Naara approaching, and stopped throwing the pebbles, for fear of appearing rude
"Hey. Not much. Just thinking... Is this really an "end of the world" scene? and we're supposed to be the heroes?"

"I don't know Damas...if it happens how it happened with my father, I guess so."

I could tell he wasn't just thinking about that. It was too obvious.

"Damas, be honest with me, you're thinking that i'm idolised because of my father...right?"

I looked at the ground, I hated it as much as he did.

Dunce saw everyone as she was walking to the mayors office. She ran over to the group, who were all sitting around a fountain. Dunce tapped Naara on the back.

"Hey guys! Whats going on?"

"Oh, hey Dunce, nothing. Just thinking about my Dad."

She knew what I was thinking, I had never thought about my Dad in a good way. He had brought this false-fame upon me.

"We ready to go to Matataki, or do you still need to do stuff?" I looked at them all, I wasn't going to call on Dran until we were all ready.

Damas was about to say something to Naara when Dunce interrupted
"All I can say is that I believe a man should prove his worth. I'll talk to you more later."
He picked up his swords from the ground
"Right. Let's go save the damn world, for all the good it's done us."

For all the help I've ever received he thought bitterly to himself

Dunce nodded her head. She knew what Naara was thinking about. Naara's father gave him fame he didn't want just like Dunce's great grandfather brought her infamy she didn't deserve.

Dunce smiled at Naara and Damas.

"It doesn't matter who our families are or what they did or didn't do. We'll all prove our self worth when we defeat the genie. And yeah, I'm ready to go."

Something wasn't right with Damas, I couldn't quite put my finger on it though.

"Ok then, let's go. Dunce, you ready?" I looked deep into her eyes, her hair accented her facial features.

She's...beautiful...

I realised what I was thinking and shook my head. I looked at the floor and blushed a little, my hair covered my cheeks.

"Come on, let's go!" I ran away, trying to escape the akward moment.

"Draaaan!" I shouted.

Damas got out of his moody thoughts to observe the conversation between Dunce and Naara. Observing the subtle gestures between the 2 and, the blushing from Naara.
So there is something going on there. At least Naara wants there to be. He thought to himself. I can see why though. She is one of a kind. But, as usual, I will get nothing from someone like her, even if she liked me, Naara would kill me.
As these thoughts were mulling over in his head, another thought entered his mind.
But that doesn't mean I can't have some fun

He oiled his swords, so they wouldn't scratch against the scabbards and then put them back into their scabbards.

"Right, let's go- bring on the flying hamster!"

I oiled my bow one last time and waited for Dran. I had realised something was going on between Naara and Dunce though.

[em]I just hope they don't get too into each other. Breaks you're heart when you get close to someone but can't save them when they need you.[/em]

Dunce noticed Naara staring at her oddly.

Is he...no.. I must be imagining things..maybe..

Dunce shook her head and laughed nervously. She pushed those thoughts out of her mind. At least for now. She raised her hands in the air.

"Alright everyone! Lets go save the world!"

Dran hovered over the distance, he seemed filled with joy when he saw the village. It was the way it used to be. He loved things when they went right.

"Over here!" I shouted.

"Sorry villager, I appreciate everything you lot have done to help me and the village. Come on, where to, matataki?"

"Yes please!" I laughed. We hopped onto his back and he flew into the sky. I peered back at Dunce as her hair was being blown gently by the wind. I smiled, but she didn't see. I turned around again and stared over Dran's head.

What am I thinking? I wondered...

Damas quietly sat down behind Naara, he needed an opportunity to talk, and this was going to be as good as it got.
"I said we needed to talk, so here I go" he said, keeping his voice over the wind. "I don't have any qualms with you, but you need to get yourself sorted out. I don't care about being the one to save the world, even if I do, people won't acknowledge me. You, you're different, you have your father's legacy as a burden. This group will need you to be strong, if you fail, this group will fail. I hope you're aware of that fact."

Damas paused, debating whether to voice his thoughts out loud. He decided the best course would be to whisper it in Naara's ear

"Also, you might want to watch your feelings for Dunce. Do what you will after we've saved the world. But be aware, she is a warrior who will fight. You can't protect her all the time." He said this in a hushed whisper. Attempting to avoid attracting Dunce's attention

Dunce sat further back that the others. Looking at the clouds as the whisked by. She had a smile on her face. The wind blew through her hair as she looked over the side. She was lost in her own thoughts and didn't pay attention to anyone else.

I need to fix my name. Because of great grandpa Seda this genie was made in the first place. And now everyone in the village shuns me and my family. I need to restore my name no matter what!

Dunce shook her head and moved over to where Naara and Damas were. They seemed to had just finished a conversation. She jumped on Naara's shoulder.

"What ya guys talking bout?"

I listened to Damas carefully, he had done what all of the villagers used to do. It pushed me over the edge. I screamed in fury.

"I'M NOT MY FATHER! HE MAY HAVE DONE GREAT THINGS, BUT I'M NOT SOME LEGENDARY WARRIOR! I'M DOING MY BEST! I'M HIS SON, I'M NOT HIM! WHY CAN'T ANYBODY UNDERSTAND THAT!"

I had completely lost it. I was sick of being treated as if I was my father.

"I understand that this is a big deal, but it's not responsbility, it's ours!"

I looked around and leapt of Dran's back into the Matataki forest. They were all shocked, but I just wanted to get away from them for a while. I landed on the floor and made my way to the Village Clearing. They needed to understand that I wasn't my father. I was me.

"I'm sorry Dunce, i'll be with you in a little while."

The others were still on Dran's back, they just needed to ask him to take them down.

DAMMIT! He didn't understand!
Damas' thoughts were racing as Dran began his descent. When dran was low enough, Damas leapt off the guardian's back, chasing the tracks that Naara had left behind, using the training his adoptive father gave him.
my father...my real father...who was he? He thought as he ran through the undergrowth
"Naara!" he screamed as he ran "Naara!"

Suddenly Damas was out of the forest, back at the village clearing. Naara was there too.
"Naara!" he yelled "what are you playing at? The others need you"

I heard Damas talking to me...I didn't want to listen. I pulled out my sword and pointed it at him.

"Come then, prove your worth. It seems mine lies with my father."

I looked at Damas in the eyes. I could tell that I was looking at him with pure hatred. I awaited his reaction...but my actions had taken him aback.

"Come on, the others aren't here, a 1 on 1 duel. PROVE YOUR WORTH, THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT TO DO ISN'T IT?!" I screamed with rage. This wasn't like me.

I put myself in a defensive stance, in case he accepted my offer.

This was a rough stab at a complete plot twist. Don't worry, i'm not evil, I just wanted to shake things up a bit.

Dunce looked over at Damas and Naara.

Naara you idiot..

"Dran turn around."

Dran nodded and returned to where Naara and Damas were. Dunce quickly jumped off and ran in between the two. She turned and looked Naara in the eyes.

"Stop. You know that whatever people think of you isn't true. You are not your father. You know that I understand your situation the most. I know what it feels like for people to already judge you on something someone in your family did. So I am asking you Naara. Please sheath your sword."
