How do you bring a rifle into a movie? Did people just think it was fake?!
He planned the attack, the emergency exit was propped open.

And with gun control, you wont get people, that already break the law, to start following the law, by making more laws. Its a mute point. A criminal will still be a criminal, new laws wont change their behavior.

I'm glad they have the guy in custody. I hope he gets erased from existence.

EDIT: I also hope the victims and their families get the support they need.

It's purile and juvenile responses like this that allowed this, Columbine, Virginia Tech and every other massacre to happen in the first place.
Picture is a LITTLE old, but the point still stands...

I'll tell you this:
If just two or three people in that theater were armed, and went through the proper training...there would probably be a LOT less bodies.

The only thing strict gun control laws do is disarm LAW FOLLOWING CITIZENS.
IF a crazy person or a scum bag wants a weapon, they-will-find-a-way-to-get-it.

NORMAL PEOPLE DON'T DO CRAP LIKE THIS.
It's childish to think that 'banning all the guns' will stop criminals, or prevent massacres.

The casualties included a four-month old baby who was released after being treated.
Who brings a four month-old baby to a midnight premiere of an action movie?
This was probably the true reason for the shootings (I say this in jest). Baby wouldn't stop crying because it was tired and the loud movie hurt it's naturally sensitive ears.

Queue all the conservative Americans who'll claim that this attack is in no way a just cause for tighter gun control. Rather the opposite. After all, if everyone had guns you'd have less shootings wouldn't you?

It's times like these I'm extremely pleased to live in Australia.

Yes, in light of such a tragedy, it's very important that we stop and consider how the poor gun owners might be affected by this.

And the countdown to gamers (somehow) getting the blame begins.....now.

By gamers i ofc mean those of us who play such violent attrocites as GTA 4 and who have no morals or any kind of decent upbringing.

You watch, somehow the internet and gaming will get dragged into it.

Why must people continue to fail to live up to even my lowest expectations of them? I mean, if you can't even behave yourself in front of Batman then what hope is there for any of us?

I just... I'm done. Game over. Just... fuck! What the fuck?!

Boom.

Godwin's Law has once again been met.

Also I don't think that it's as much Gun Control to keep guns out of the hands of crooks but more to make it easier to lock them up (for possessing illegal firearms).

This story offends me dearly. Not just as a sane human (that's already a given no doubt), no no. This also offends me as an avid cinema goer, Batman fan and as someone who likes socials. It's sad that all these went out because they wanted a good time with friends and/or family with a common interest and excitement... ruined and then some.

It's certainly connected, I'll say that much. The military vibe of the attacker, slowly walking while shooting, the guy definately had some "bane" aspirations.

The thing the press will forget is that it takes an awful lot of crazy to get to that point. It could've been this film, it could've been another film, could've been a song, a painting, or just some random guy that pisses someone this insane off. No, somebody who aspires to be a mass murderer from a film couldn't possibly be set off by anything else...

I'm with you on that. What makes me angry about this is that no doubt the gunman knew that people wouldn't think he was anything more than a gimmick and just used that to his advantage. He was just that sick and sadistic.

Tear gas, a bulletproof vest, a rifle, a shotgun, and a few handguns says otherwise. This guy was armed to the teeth, prepared, and had the element of surprise. Some average Joe with a side holster wouldn't have made a lick of difference.

They try to ban drugs, alcohol, and software piracy too. Didn't work. Won't work. People will find away. Crazies will still be crazies, criminals will still be criminals. There are tons of robberies that don't involve guns. They'll still happen.

Imagine if Poland had an armed population like we do back at the start of WW2. We'd be harder to openly oppress since we can fight back effectively.

From what I've read the emergency exit had been propped open beforehand.
