There is a common misunderstanding where most people think that Demon's souls and Dark souls are sequels/prequels or somehow connected. They arent, there are a few items that are call backs to Demon's souls but Fromsoft has always had recurring items in their games. You can find the moonlight greatsword in Kings field and I seem to recall something in Armored Core sharing a name as well.

That said, the first thing I would like is more weaponry. Specifically I want a warhammer and a maul. If you wanted to use blunt weapons you were pretty much limited to club, mace, or larger clubs. It would also be nice to see more Oriental themed weapons like a Jian type sword or naginata.

More weapons for Dex builds would also be nice since it seems like your only real choices are spears and katanas. Although I also want to see thrown weapons like Javelins.

More and new covenants. ENB mentioned an idea for a Duelist covenant which I love the idea of and it would really scratch the PVP side that most people are into. The idea was to allow for "respecs" so players could experiment with different builds easily, have a designated place for people to duel or 2v2/3v3 etc, but remove the ability to invade since you'ld be looking for honorable and challenging fights instead of taking humanity. As for the other covenants Im mostly fine with them, although I think limiting players just by soul level is a mistake. I think it should be partly total souls spent and partly soul level so you dont have gankers with all +15 gear on a level 1 dominating fresh characters

Remove the ability to roll/backstab combo so easily. With Dark souls current net coding lag this makes gankers just wait till you do an attack before they get you while your vulnerable. Theres just no defense.

Finally I would like more character customization. More hairstyles, tattoos (anywhere you want to put them), hair colors, body types, etc.

I hope From Software gets more funding and polish it a bit better. Make sure the framerate stays rock solid, and fix stuff like button lag. And an offline mode that I can pick in the game menu.

The framerate drops were because of the 7 year old hardware in consoles, not because of the game itself. Ive played it through a couple times on PC and Im always at 60+ FPS. However with my xbox version there were many times in blight town or ash lake where the FPS droped to something stupid like 10 or 15

There's a few things I'd love to see:

1. Ditch the crazy big bosses. Big bosses are cool, but at the point where if I lock on to them I can't even see them because they don't fit my screen and thus have no way of seeing what attack they're doing it becomes quite annoying.
2. Nerf the heaviest armours and shields. I've read about several enemies apparently being capable of one-shotting you, with my greatshield of Artorias (highest stability) and Havel's armour (highest poise) all that happens is that my shield arm tires a little bit and I lose some stamina. Keeping my shield up basically makes me invulnerable, which makes the game not so hard at all.
3. Make a PC version right away, optimize it and don't use Games for Windows Live.

How about some actual difficulty instead of that artificial BS in Dark Souls that could be so easily pyro'd though.

Another fight like the storm ruler.

Optional pvp off-switch.

Pausing.
No.

No.

No.

And no.

OT: Just add in a few more optional bosses , some more secret areas and give me the ability to play NG+ with a new character ( level 1 ) and we are good to go .

Edit: Oh and make it less linear. But don't make the monsters easier to allow you to beat them easily in any order , oh no . Keep an IDEAL route but give me the option to complete shit in any order if i am skilled enough.

A tutorial that tells you what you need to know to play the game.

I loved the game, but a lot of people got driven away because the game gives you no idea how to build and equip your character, so you your options are look it up, play through the game horribly underpowered or restart a few times.

More Asian weapons or DEX based bonus weapons. I'd love more proper dual wielding, especially an arc attack in that regard. I'm currently indifferent as to whether or not it should continue to use the Phyre engine...I guess it depends on whether or not it comes out before the new hypothetical consoles.

I'm a fan of the online aspect both gameplay-wise and thematically. I actually wouldn't mind more frequent and regular patches that add new content, hell go full blown MMO-like. This sounds crazy, and I don't mean WoW with tactical combat or anything crazy like that, but a stronger focus on what's possible here. Right now it seems to straddle a line for the sake of the isolationism and indifference of the world.

I'd love more open ended areas, more labyrinthine with a chance to get lost and truly explore. I'd like more areas like Sen's with the traps/mimics/elevators, where the difficulty was tied into the area and your skill/perception regardless of your equipment or level.

Add more lore and flesh out the world more. I love how the NPCs are going mad and not many people have answers and it ties into the whole theme, but Demon's did this well with the exposition from the Monumental and there being both mystery and understanding surrounding the Old One despite you knowing so little.

PLEASE, if there will continue to be covenants, tie the deepening into each specific character as opposed to your system/gamertag as a whole. I don't know if I've done something wrong or if this was for a good reason, but this drove me crazy to sacrifice all the humanity I gave to the Chaos servants in order to roll a faith based character and have a supporting covenant.

I agree with a lot of people here, and of course my number one request would be that it be made at all if they aren't already working on it.

Really open areas, maybe? Dragon's Dogma proved open environments can be a grand 'ol time in paced combat. I say the series should switch it up and stop making me feel claustrophobic 24/7. Then again, the point of the series is to reveal the masochistic-like addiction of suffering in it's audience with it's depressing atmosphere and "fuck this" difficulty so I don't think that'll happen.

Two armour sets.

The first set is what your character benefits from stat wise.

The second set is purely for aesthetic purposes.

I'm sick of seeing other players wearing mixes of armour sets, especially when I see male characters running around with dresses on because they're the best stat wise :D

I hate having to look like I've just fallen out of wardrobe just to stay on par with other players in PvP.
But if they made a game that requires skill over stats to win, then people who have no skills might lose and get their feelings hurt. Fan rage is hilarious. If people suck at a game, they bank on equipment stats to make up for it. When that doesn't work, the game is suddenly the worst game they've ever played and everyone who plays it is stupid. Not talking about you needing good armor to compensate, just in general.

I tend to find that the best players in Dark Souls actually wear what they want rather than the best stat equips, because their skill more than makes up for what they lack in defenses compared to their enemy in full Giant. If I get invaded by some guy wearing nothing but the Butcher's sack and his birthday suit, I tend to give him as much space as possible. One does not simply dress like a retard without being able to one-hit backstab.

OT: They'd be stupid not to make another game in the series. I don't have solid numbers, but it seems like the game is quite popular. If there was one thing I'd want changed, it'd be...well, the physics, if you can call them that. I remember so many times where I'd be walking, say, near a ledge and suddenly my character goes all, "Gee, someone left some butter here! WHOA, ISN'T THIS WACKY?!"

And then he'd seemingly slide two feet to the left off of the ledge to his death. The first two or so times it happened I figured this was my fault, maybe I'd been closer to the edge than I thought. But no, I watched it happen. He would slide right off, even though there was no reason he should. I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but it's to the point now where I just avoid open space altogether and hug walls.

Also, better Bonfire placement. I know that this was partly my own fault, but I managed to slowly kill my way through the Capra demons in that little Hellish area past Quelaag's room, and then opened and rested at the bonfire beneath the bridge. I was then trapped there for nearly an hour as I attempted to make my way out of hell, being killed or nearly dying at each attempt. Sometimes, that sliding thing would happen as I made my way up the cliffside slope and I'd fall into the lava. Each time I died, I'd be sent right back again beneath the bridge. I eventually managed to successfully serpentine my way between the Capra demons and made it past the final one and get out, but the thing is that this was just poor Bonfire placement. I was stuck behind no less than six Capra Demons, and ahead of me was a door I could not enter, along with a Taurus Demon, some weird monster statue things, and a giant...centipede?

There were a lot of places that you shouldn't enter, obviously, but there was no real defining thing that kept me away from this area. Capras are a cakewalk when you lead them all one by one to fight, which is what I did. Having to get past six of the damned things at once, however...

Yeah, part of the game experience is not knowing what to do or how to move on. Early on all you're explained is you have to ring two bells, and I honest thought that was all that was needed. Maybe a bit more explanation on how stats worked and improved your gameplay, but that's it!

You know how people complain so many games hold your hand and lead you from one encounter to the next, what I love about DS is not only did it not do that. It went too far by completely abandoning you in the middle of the game with no sense of direction and monsters all around; some way higher in level than you able to kill you in one shot.

I'd like to see character customization (what you can spend souls on to raise) expanded a bit more in the next one, and really make stats etc make a difference as well (more like the first one).

More to the point, I'd like to see many viable ways to specialize your character, while requiring significant efforts to reach max specialization in any one field. Bow users for instance that get extreme advantages to maxing dex and bow skills, magic users that get advantages from mastering the magic stat, mana stat and each school of magic etc.

Each weapon type could also be specialized in (not only with stats, but also the weapon skill itself..with special moves that open up the higher you boost the specialization)

Break down vitality into health, defense, magic defense etc.

Break down stamina into max stamina, stamina regen, stamina cost reduction (use less stamina when blocking/attacking/running etc).

The combat system is already great, so just expand on the players choices, and of course add a bunch of new areas/bosses etc.

I actually found more diversity in how I played my characters in Demon Souls then I did in Dark souls, even though there was really more options in Dark souls (it's just some of those options didn't take much specializing at all).

Please give me an option to not get invaded. I want to do Co-op but I hate getting invaded since the only people who do it will invade my average character with armour made out of plot armor and a +9001 lightning, divine, fire, ice ,water, dark, light, god mode spear or sword that could destroy the sun itself in a single blow and then one shot me.

I want to enjoy the game in Co-op but invading really damn ruins it when it essentially means you need to press quit or die.

What I want most out of Dark Souls 2? To give the Halberd the ability to combo again! Do you know how disappointing it was to find out that they changed how the Halberd works from Demon's Souls to Dark Souls? Very disappointing.

Also it's been awhile but is the MP portion of Demon's Souls still around? Have they shut down the servers yet? I may play it again and I was wondering.

Shut down the servers half a year ago.

OT: I'd love for the game to have an easymode 'inside' the game itself. Like say, an indestructive ring of sacrifice that decreased the ammount of souls you get by 25%.

You get less souls, you sacrifice a ringslot. But in return, the game is less frustrating to those who dont wanna buy dung piles for banking storage (And yes, thats a thing)

Hmm, a powered up pyromancy. Now dont attack me you pyrohaters (theres a lot of you) i think they should increase range a bit, increase area of effect. And decrease damage. Those lavapools only hit the things that stand directly on it, I find that a bit wierd.

Better hitboxes, I swear. The capra demon? I rolled right by his dog. Except an invisible wall blocked me and I got bit to pieces. Demon dogs suck.

Better walk-mesh. Those cliffs? Yea. Those, someone. SOMEONE oiled the 2 meters next to the edge, every time. EVERY TIME.

More heads on the hydra, 11 wasnt enough. Lets go with 33. And then you kill it, by running around it.

Better broken-straight sword. I tell you, trying to kill that first boss with this thing before passing... It was a pain, I mean I managed after 10 tries or so. And I got this big badass hammer for it, but who's idea was it to pit noobs against a ten tons asylum demon with the equavelant of a broken bottle without ways of healing yourself?

An example of where Dark Souls completely fails to explain itself:

You can kill vendors/important NPCs if you attack them. This is not taught to the player at all. Learning this involves accidentally doing it, perhaps 10 hours into the game, with the result that one very important vendor/NPC is gone forever, and the only option to bring him back is restarting. This isn't old-school, this isn't cool, this is just STUPID.
Isn't that your fault for being a dick and attacking the man supplying you?

My only complaint about that is you get no second chances. For most enemies it's one hit, and you're fucked. In Demon's Souls it took a few hits before they engaged.

Otherwise, I have no qualms with that. I can't logically think of a reason you would want to kill them - and they're one of the few humans you meet so killing them is reasonably going to have more significant consequences than, say, killing hollows.

Wouldn't it be Dark Souls 3?...or whatever its going to be called. I would say, the next Souls game.

First game was Demons Souls, Second was Dark Souls.

OT: Demons Souls is amazing and although I haven't got to Dark Souls yet, I am sure it is amazing also. So they should just keep what they are doing!
Dark Souls is only a spiritual successor to Demon's Souls, not an actual sequel.
Then their third souls game should also be a spiritual successor. They should keep it going with the different soul names.

: Corrupt Souls
: Hell Souls
: Light Souls?
: Evil Souls
: Wicked Souls
: Vile Souls
Most probably Dragon's Souls. I can see it being called Dragon Souls. And there being a few dragons. Also:

Dread Souls
Dead Souls
Damned Souls
Devil's Souls

etc. etc.
..Or Elder Souls

and see if Bethesda brings lawsuit.

Actually they're still up in the US. The May Shutdown date got cancelled in the US due to a petition, or generally from tons of people still playing it. There's no definite shutdown date now.
