That image at the top looks more like the Lobo I originally came across in my comics in the 90s than most of the "iconic" Lobo images I've seen since. Lean, slender, but incredibly vicious and tough, I actually liked that look a lot more.

Now the personality they describe up there sounds nothing like Lobo at all. He really only had one "moral code":
Finish the contract [sub]by any means necessary.[/sub]

EDIT: My first (second actually but he wasn't on the cover of the comic preceeding this one, same story line though)introduction to Lobo

So, reboot missed the point of the character painfully. So the rebooted reboot is missing the point by an even wider margin.

I am not much into comic books but "physically attractive and mysteriously brooding" almost always meant making a mannequin who is programmed to utter a pretentious line whenever it stubs its toe and snark most other times.

It is like DmC all over again.

If it wasn't Lobo but just another character I'd quite like the character design. That said as a replacement for Lobo it's just plain bad.

I just... uggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Why redesign a cigar-chomping, space-hog riding character into one who gets carded trying to buy booze? Oh wait, maybe they just got confused somewhere designing a character see

^ this is Michael Morbius, the living vampire, and this design indeed suits him

^ This is Lobo. He has a beard.
HEY!! Don't knock Morbius he was cool a shame the whole dark line of marvel comics came to a crappy end and half of them would up in Doc Strange's vault. >>

Ahh well, at least there is always Deadpool.
Yeah! Good old Deadpool, whom we know and love.
I have no idea who that is, I'm talking about Deadpool.

[small]Yeah I'm guessing that's from the crappy Wolverine movie[/small]

*facepalm*

Just like a lot of other people, I prefer the old Lobo. He was awesome. Plus he got into a fun scrap with Wolverine in the "Marvel vs. DC" arc.

Yeah, definitely this.

Lobo is a notable exception to the status quo for male characters. For female characters...

Bahhh. Found out about this yesterday and wasn't too pleased then, but now that I've seen the concept designs I'm even more annoyed. The two beefy ones may not be as good as the original, but at least they look like Lobo, this guy is so far removed that they might as well have just came up with a new character. And new characters are never a bad thing, even if they flop, they at least show you're trying, and you don't have to sacrifice old characters to do it.

To be fair Starfire in the comics has always been a busty alien chick.

Lobo's one of those characters I looked at early on and thought, "I don't know anything about this guy, but his design is killer."

I don't know why they'd kill the golden goose on this one. Seems a little dumb.

...I'm getting PTSD flashbacks to DmC. Seriously, what is up with Reboots lately? You have to handle these things with care or you're going to piss off the whole fanbase.

That said, DC at-least seem to have better PR then Ninja Theory and Tameem do in that they actually HAVE PR.
To be fair to NT, a lot of the things people complain about with the DMC reboot were evidently Capcom mandates. It's sort of the equivalent of a writer for Marvel or DC following an editorial mandate. So while DC may have better PR, the root cause appears to be similar or possibly even identical.

He looks like an Emo Thundercat that sparkles.

I guess if we can get Ben Affleck as Batman, we can get Edward Cullen as Lobo.

Ugh, I didn't think I could get any more disappointed with DC's New 52.

So... for all the DC/Lobo fans out there, was Lobo a parody for his entire run until now, or was he turned into a more serious character for a portion of it? I've never been a Lobo fan (my only real contact with the DC Comic universe was the Kyle Rayner Green Lantern run, for about 3 years or so, maybe less.) so I only know Lobo from over the top things that get tossed about online - which isn't much, I know. But from what little I do know of Lobo, this looks to be pretty much on par with Wolverine being remade into a tall, handsome, Irish Ninja who is also an investment banker as his day job.
