This is also something they need to understand.Lovely Mixture said:I don't want bigger breasts. I want sexier characters period, that includes body, personality, movement style, and character interaction.
The "sexiness" of a female character isn't purely determined by her boobs. I almost feel insulted by the game if the devs think that giant water-filled boobs that is all it takes to make a female seem sexy - the incredibly over-done physics which make them bounce up and down even when the character bats an eyelash is actually repulsive instead of attractive, it immediately makes me think "what the hell is her chest made out of, it can't be human tissue/muscle!". It could almost be classified under the uncanny valley.
I'm all for over-sexualization in video games, it has AMAZING potential to be some of the most delicious icing ever icing on the cake. But character development is just as important, if not more important in determining the "sexyness" of a female character.
Since DoA5 is mostly an arcade fighter (there goes character development) as long as the core gameplay aspects of DoA5 are strong, they can do whatever they want with the sexualization. Full steam ahead I say. Even oversexualize the male characters to appeal to the gay folk (and possibly female gamers?), I have nothing against it, honestly.
FYI to those constantly saying "boo "and "pathetic" and what-not, trust me when I say this - you very quickly get de-sensitized to the sexualization if you play the characters over and over again. Most fans playing at home (or in arcades) are NOT concentrating on the sexy females as much as they are concentrating on playing the actual game, i.e. NOT DYING and WINNING. Maybe for the first hour they'll giggle to themselves with the panty shots and jiggle physics, but after that it's all gameplay or bust.
In fighting game circles especially, nobody picks a character based exlusively on how sexy they are, they pick the character who they feel suits their playstyle and figting prowess.
In all honesty, the sexualization is more aimed at the non-fans because actual fans (i.e. dedicated players) of the game already know what they're in for.
I don't think the article in OP is telling the entire truth, it makes me doubtful. Why would true fans of the game ask for bigger boobs instead of more functional gameplay? It doesn't sound like something true fans would ask for, me being one of the fans.
