I just wish that zombie genocide was ACTUAL genocide. I wish that they would stay fucking dead and not magically respawn. Especially the assholes in the jeep in the courtyard. That made me want to destroy my 360.

The most units I've ever seen onscreen was during a cossacks game, one of the expansions allowed you to have as many units as your computer could handle. Being an old game it was literally thousands.

Yeah... Sorry John but this isn't news. I'm 99% sure this was announced when they released the E3 demo. Oh well. What I was hoping to get out of this article was an actual release date. This, Portal 2, and the new Fallout, are all going to come out very close it seems.

How are you actually going to physically see 2,000+ zombies at once?
Especially in a building area...

Oh, come on. I suspect a great many of those zombies would suffer from a severe case of "Hey, didn't I just decapitate you, like, 6 zombies ago?"-itis. Lots of zombies=cool. Thousands of zombies=silliness.

Besides, there are only so many pixels on a TV screen...

Anyone played through the whole first Dead Rising? For those you that didn't, you had to beat story mode, which had time limitations on events, before you could roam free and kill anything you liked. On top that, the free roaming of Dead Rising 1 had degenerating health. I know the more zombies the merrier, I'm all for that, but I'd love the opportunity to cave in some zombie skulls with a moose skull without having to worry about time. Even better if it will actually help me progress in story mode making it easier to do things.

Did you actually read the post other than the part that said "there has been more than 6000 entities on screen"? Because I IN NO WAY COMPARED THE GAMES IN TERMS OF QUALITY OR THEIR CONTENT AND EVEN IMPLIED MY UTMOST RESPECT TO DEAD RISING 2. In case that slipped your radar... But you cannot deny that total war can present more than 6000 individually rendered figures on screen. And we can have an example from a more recent game as well, you may have heard of Empire: Total war. Mod the game a bit and you'll have about 10 different looking models in each unit, it's not 2D copypasta anymore. The point in question here was numbers. Not what they do. In pure numbers, 6000<15,000. I didn't want to compare the game engines running the little pixelated men.

Now stop stabbing people over the internet and listen (read, whatever). Dead rising 2 will probably be stonking great. It will have huge hordes of zombies that all act individually and look properly zombie-ish. Technically 6000 of individually acting entities is unparalleled, no question about it. I'm looking forward to seeing it, and I don't even have an Xbox 360. I just wanted to point out 6000 isn't unheard of as far as graphics are concerned, and not a word about the AI or dismemberment possibilities.

God, I can't wait for this game.
Is this 360 only? Because if it is, I might just have to get a 360 instead of a PS3... D;

The question is, will the text be bigger, and can I kill my support character if he gives me any lip for hanging up on him?

But good job on those Zombies. Seriously, that's going to be fun (assuming it doesn't do something similar to the original and drop you in not being able to carry many items and having low health, and being on a timer where you have to do all sorts of missions that are also on a timer, and having the first boss be a gun battle when you've been doing most of your killing with various items lying around (you know, the fun way), and don't have convicts in a jeep, and have a broken save system...

Why did I like the first game again?

See, great, kudos to putting so many zombies in your game, but then again, Valve managed intense zombie fun with about fifty on screen, leading me to conclude that having thousands of zombies is not the essence of the best zombie horror games.

Resident Evil made us jump out of our skin with two zombie dogs and a window, L4D gives us nightmares with tense survival action, Silent Hill manages to be bed wettingly terrifying years after its initial release with the use of barely any monsters anywhere ever.

Well done on putting so many characters on screen at once, but it won't impress me unless I find the experience actually scary.
Was the first one ever scary? No it wasn't, so you wont be impressed probably

On topic the first game was hard enough! NOW how the hell am I suppose to rescue people??

Alright already! I made the mistake of assuming that a game about zombies, featuring hordes of mindless flesh eating carnivorous beasts taken from some of the oldest horror stories ever, some of the greatest scary villains of all time in fact, would also be a scary game. Clearly I was mistaken, can people please stop quoting me now?

Besides, my original post was actually to say that putting a lot of enemies on screen isn't actually that impressive to me, since I prefer such things as say, story telling or good characters, so maybe we could focus on that instead?

I care less about the number of zombies and more about the number of uninterruptable walkie talkie conversations that keep trying to get me killed. If there was the was a patch to remedy that annoying behaviour that would have made the difference between a fun game and a great game.

I'm just totally excited that it has a PC release scheduled at the same time :)

I'm near the front of the queue for this one, so long as they don't do anything silly like pull a Ubisoft on us.
