This is going to be like playing an arcade game, you die and you have to start over. for a game of at least 10 hours that's going to make more then a few people smash there game system in little itty bits when he or she dies.
What is this NetHack? It sounds interesting.RAKtheUndead said:Erana plays NetHack, a game where you get a single save slot which you can only use when you're exiting the game, where death is permanent and everything is trying to kill you. I think she's well-orientated with difficulty.ciortas1 said:JUMBO PALACE said:snipNo checkpoints. You die, you go way back to one of your 3 saves.Erana said:snip
I understand believe me. All I mean is that it seems weird that you only have three sessions to finish the game. I sure don't have that much time to devote right now.ciortas1 said:JUMBO PALACE said:snipNo checkpoints. You die, you go way back to one of your 3 saves.Erana said:snip
I agree, but a cinematic would just go up on youtube and that'd be that. A good mini-game might be worth it, but really, having beaten it would be its own reward.Amethyst Wind said:This 'really cool unlock' that you get for beating hardcore will most likely be something reasonably disappointing like an avatar accessory. If you unlocked some extra game mode or cinematic then maybe I'd be interested.
Good point. Of all things, why prevent you from saving? Im sure they can come up with a better, more clever way of making a game more "hardcore."Erana said:Making a game harder for a hardcore mode is one thing. Perhaps Permadeath, or something. Fewer saves means they expect you to be able to play the game in three sittings- which does not bode well for the game's length.
Genius. Grade us based on the difficulty, number of saves, and kinds of weapons used. I mean, this hardcore mode is essentially the same as if we were going for an old school S rank, but it would be nice to have the difficulty be self-imposed, and the freedom to abandon the challenge if we so choose.Erana said:Why not go Resident Evil on us and use ink ribbons, or penalise multiple saves?
It's a rougelike game... http://www.nethack.org/v343/downloads.htmlJester Lord said:What is this NetHack? I would believe that you will be sent back to the main menu after you die, forcing you to use your save. Forcing you to start back at the beginning of the level defeats the purpose of saying no to checkpoints, as what you just said is a checkpoint.inFAMOUSCowZ said:I love you even more dead space. But only question about hardcore mode. Lets say I save at the beginning of the game, and get to the third level with out dieing, but die say half way through. DO I start from my last save, or at the beginning of the level. Since I know there are no checkpoints throughout the level. At least let each level count as one.
Yeah my thoughts exactly.Beat14 said:I was a fan on the new vegas hardcore mode, but I simply don't think I could handle this. Have to see once I find out how long the game is.
Shame it has to be unlocked, as I think going into a game with the "hardcore mode" on the first time you play makes it a more memorable experience.
Yeah I know but I was still hoping for the best that maybe, just maybe, they would have a tiny checkpoint.Stuberfinn88 said:I would believe that you will be sent back to the main menu after you die, forcing you to use your save.
