As the Colossi gathered, anger rising in some, fear in others, apart from it all the red storm above grew, churning like a bloody engine of the world. A single red raindrop fell from the sky, alone, it fell and landed softly on Glacia's icy cheek.

Adtonitus shook his head. "And I dont wish to be consumed, nor, I imagine, does anyone else here. Perfection is... boring. It means one cannot become any more powerful, and is therefore a fallacy created by those with inferiority complexes." Adtonitus chuckled as he shook his head. "The only think constant is change- nothing can be preserved. However, all may strive to continue living. There is a world of difference between the two. Throws a bit of a wrench into thy 'salvation plan' when no-one wants it, eh?" Adtonitus felt the earth rumble. "Oh, look at this. You went and woke up Old Hill Bones! Good luck with that fight." Adtonitus chuckled as the ledge Executor hovered above moved to become the pinky finger of The Jotun. "Hell, good luck even making out his face."

Just wondering, what kind of doom did eventually kill of humanity? I've gone for the nuclear apocalypse version, but I'll edit if that doesn't fit

They fight.

The Land sleeps heavily indeed. It slept through the chaotic forces of nature, it dreamed even as mankind tore itself apart in atomic fire, but now it could feel it's cousin gathering their strength and preparing for war

In their mindless rivalry, they do not care for the Earth. Their war will scar the world and leave it burning.

This cannot be permitted.

Stirred by an ancient spirit, the mountains tremble as the Earth rises in it's own defence. The rocks begin to move, the plains echo with it's steps and whole continents shake as the hills begin to march

The Jotun stod tall ready to face these squabbling things and quieten their silly war
I was thinking more an accumulaton of all human failures, war, pollution, nukes, global warming, genetic experimentation.

Dreth listened as Executor and Adtonitus squabbled, both becoming more and more aggressive and bold. It would not be long before open conflict would break out between the two.

Then Dreth felt the rumbling of the ground beneath him. Loud booms echoing across impossible distances shook the air. The very Earth itself seemed to march. The Jotun had awoken.

If that massive being decides to enter into a fight, this conflict will be devastating for everything involved. And the destruction would be glorious.

Tempest zoomed towards the battlefield, determined to find those he can ally with. As he thought this he saw the strongest of them all, The Jotun awaken from his slumber, which meant that nothing short of Ragnarok was coming. Flying high above in preparation for his full form to rise, Tempest circled the area, waiting to talk with his Eldest brother.

I know that, but I'm not going for "alien" thing here. And remember, my back-story clearly states that he has devoured a lot of other worlds. And that he starts each harvest from the core of the galaxy. Executor has a superiority complex.

V merely sat from a distance and watched as the massive earthen being emerged. The scale of this creature was far greater than he would have expected.

That size is impressive. Completely impractical, but impressive.

For a fleeting moment V was struck by indecisiveness. This colossus would be an extremely powerful ally, but what happened if he sided with these other more destructive colossi? Would he listen to reason? Would he even be able to hear V's voice? Even if the fox flipped to his maximum size he would be utterly dwarfed by this enormous being.

I will wait and see how this plays. No need to step in until the chips start to fall.

Legion opened his eyes. He lay on his back among a valley of exploding volcanoes. The voices of a million elementals babbled inside his head. He tried to focus on who he was and his mission assigned to him by Harmony. Slowly the voices settled and formed into one mind. He slowly picked himself off the ground, causing more of it to collapse due to his weight. He eventually managed to stand, towering over the landscape. He slowly flexed his muscles. This body has its limitations, he thought. He felt a new power growing inside and he felt himself grow more attuned to his surroundings. He reached out with his new found power and felt, rather than saw, the trace elements of metal in the landscape respond to him, waiting to be commanded. Will have to find a large source of metal to make full use of my power. He was distracted from his musings by a soft surge of energy, almost beyond his senses. He focused in the power and began tracing it back to its source. As he traced for the source, he began to take some experimental steps forward, each step causing the ground to give way somewhat and a minor earthquake. As he finished his last step his trace found the source of the power. He set off in a slow march towards it, earthquakes emanating from his footsteps.

Ok, but wherever you've been, your objective is NOT to devour earth, it is to become it's god

The Jotun stretched, as if to shake off the weight of it's millennial slumber. Vast eye's opened, the crystal sphere's gazing across the land, seeing the river snaking nearer across the desert, the glint of ice on a mountaintop, and sensing as much as seeing the concentration of power surrounding a cliff. And nearest of all, a familiar shape hovered in the sky

"Tempest"

The word was spoken in a voice that echoed like avalanches in hidden valleys, but it contained no malice toward the great bird.

"Greetings, sky-cousin. Do you bring news of this age of strife?"

Artistic license. "Devouring a world" doesn't mean he's going to destroy it. He is simply going to kill all of the competition and then, instead of setting up a cult... he's just going to 'devour' the dominant sentient race's sense of independence.

Even from her watery realm, Amphitrite could hear the Earthfather's voice. He seemed to be talking to Tempest, the colossus of the wind. Relief washed over her as she realized that the earth colossus was not in a bad mood. Still, it paid to be cautious. She split her consciousness between the sea, and a small lake that she formed on the surface of the Earthfather for exactly this kind of situation. She would talk to him after he was done with the bird.

Upon the surface of the Land, a rock began to shift, then roll, slowly moving toward the lake. It caused a small splash as it fell in, and sank to the bottom.

Amphitrite. Greetings, Sea Mistress

The thought echoed out from the stone, communicating directly with the water's mind.

Surprised? I too, can think on many levels at once. And in this way of talking, I am not limited by the speeds of my body. How have you fared, after all these years?

I have been well, Earthfather. Awakened by the same powers that stirred your deep slumber. It has been many years now since...

Amphitrite paused, thinking about the great calamities that had wiped out humanity.

It seems that we are fated to a catastrophic battle of our own. Dreth, V, Tempest, Adtonitus... and there are more. I do not understand why we must fight... we are all one, are we not?

The lake rippled sadly, its voice echoing through the now empty forest.

We are aspects of one true being, agreed the Mountain King, but even as your opinions compete within your mind to guide your actions, so we are fated to a conflict that will decide the course things to come.

He paused, then continued, It saddens me, but the time may come to pass when I must even fight with you. Should it come, I hope we would be able to settle it peacefully. Perhaps we might even form a friendship; I have no desire to fight my own sister, and we are both aspects of life. We would do well to combine against the likes of Dreth and the creature that comes form the outer dark

The lake shuddered again, perhaps in fear, or in sadness.

I would gladly align myself with any of my siblings. I have no wish to battle, but I will protect this Earth. If the others cannot listen to reason, I shall not stay my hand as they pollute the land. Tell me, Earthfather, what do you know of the dark one who sits on the hill?

The rock rocked, as if held in hands that shook with outrage, but the voice remained calm. While I do not know its name, I feel that I know its nature in my bones. It seems to me that it is known to our Totality, and that knowledge comes slowly to my mind. However, if it truly is one of us, I believe it represents all that is evil in the Totality.

If I am to fight, I shall surely face this one in battle

And so you shall win. For none of us has the power to decay or kill The Land. Tempest projected as he alighted on the Earthfather's shoulder, and even with his full size he appeared to be a canary compared to the Titan. It is good that the three of us are here, as I wish to speak to both of you. We all know that this battle has already begun, and we also know that none of suffered worse this past cycle then us three. Earthfather, you were scarred with bombs, and plowed with machines, and sister, you were radiated, and the creatures in your domain hunted and poisoned. And I too suffered, forced to carry the smog and gas from their diabolical machines. I was hoping that the three of us could own this next era, so that we may keep our domains pure and untainted. He said to the two of them. V and Legion dominated the human's paths, and our planet has suffered for it. We must not let this happen again.

Wise counsel, brother, replied the Earthfather, We three stand for Life, and amongst our family we are as siblings. Together, we can guide this world to a purer future, and save it from it's own perils.

The Land was silent for a time, and when it spoke again it's thoughts were of tactics and strategy. We may yet draw others to out side, he suggested, carefully. Though they will not ally with us for our ideals, some may choose to side with us rather than face our combined might. We might well consider allying with Thunder and Ice, but I fear the others are either too alien in aims or too hungry for conquest

The water colossus sighed deeply, her breath stirring the distant waters. She had reached an internal conflict. The fire colossus had approached her first, and she knew that should the three of them unite against him, he did not stand a chance.

I... I have no quarrel with the fire colossus. Amphitrite chose her words carefully.

It is true that the Earth has suffered this past cycle, but I have benefited from their domains. I will stand together with you against the looming darkness, but I will not move against the other colossi unless they move to dominate this coming cycle. They pose no threat if they do not desire to rule again." She said with finality.

The colossus knew that she was risking losing allies and perhaps making enemies, but to ally with one sibling to fight another did not appeal to her.
