Pretty much this.Kururu999 said:Last time you did this I checked the comments section. There was only one person who was actually angry, and IIRC it wasn't really about the comic itself. The number of people who wonder why the hell you keep doing this outnumber the imaginary people you think get mad at your comic. Get over yourself.
Likewise... well, maybe not, since it doesn't seem to be available on Funimation Elite. I guess I'll go back to Tenchi Muyo and its spin-offs.Olas said:I'm considering watching the show just so I can understand what all these comics are about.
Watch the first episode, then you'll get everything about NGE. No need to go any further than that.Olas said:I'm considering watching the show just so I can understand what all these comics are about.
This was a trend that happened after the rise of Super Robot which showed their child characters as stable and eternally virtuous. Eva and Gundam Wing were considered two of the animes that help deconstruct this trend to show what would actually happen if a child was thrown in a war: mental degradation or despair followed by less optimistic but still positive outlook.PedroSteckecilo said:Or you could always watch RahXephon, which is like Eva but with likeable characters... though in places it's even weirder... also the Robo-Fights aren't as awesome in RahXephon... but its character relationships are somewhat less creepy.
On another note though, what is it with Giant Robot Show Auteurs and Depression... I mean Two of the Three Giant Robot Show Runners that I can think of had depression and had it seriously influence their work... Anno with his daddy issues and Tomino killing pretty much everyone in his shows... though I guess Kowamori does have his whole new age woo obsession...
This is creating giant robot anime is a psychological rabbit hole to be sure...
I think Anno is more jaded than purely hateful of his fans and given the fact that the series ending resulted in vandalism of Gainax and death threats, he has every right to be jaded. A theory I have is that a lot of the scenes in End of Eva are his way of sticking a middle finger to the otaku community at the time: the hospital scene was an illustration of how male otaku objectify female charcters and Shinji's rejection of instrumentality showing how many otaku don't improve (see End of Evangelion and the Audience/author membrane [http://chezapocalypse.com/episodes/s3e2-end-of-evangelion-and-the-audience-author-membrane/] for more information)Shadow-Phoenix said:Nice KLK reference from the anime that saved Christmas.
I still love Evangelion even though Anno would hate my guts and everyone else who likes his work but I can live with that.
Now to try getting lucky at finding a cheap Revoltech Mark.09 and Unit 13.
Really, not even the Asuka mindscrew scene or Shinji in the giant Shadow or Shinji meeting Kaworu? Three of the big character scenes that help solidify Eva's reputation and you don't ask that he watch any of them?88chaz88 said:Watch the first episode, then you'll get everything about NGE. You didn't read the text disclaimer did you? He says that he likes the show but just wants to see the wailing and nashing of teeth when he says that Eva is badrhizhim said:the creators of evangelion or the creators of critical miss?canadamus_prime said:I've never been into Evangelion so I don't really care about Evangelion 3.0 or whatever. However I do notice that they're starting to milk it like a few other popular anime/manga series.
cause its the tenth comic that says evangelion is shit...
