So is a reboot or is a prequel?Evilsanta said:As long as they dont fuck up the gameplay i am happy...But if they do Capcom blood will flow.
But it is a prequel about Dante as a teen...So the designt kinda fits.
You mentioned this on another thread i was on before, and...i guess that would make a bit of sense even if it does conflict with some of the canon (Which somewhat hinted at Dante always having white hair, but i digress). I think, if done right, it could be a good idea.Nieroshai said:I'm seeing that it's going to be like Shadow of the Colossus in that the character's appearance gradually changes from start to finish. In the trailer, there are scenes where Dante has odd patches of white in his otherwise dark hair, so I think a re-viewing of the traler can open this up to others too. His powers probably have an influence on this. I just hope the reboot means I don't have to stare at a chapter load screen every five minutes.
They just threw out a bunch of buzzwords for their justification of the redesign. In other words Sucker Punch did not really have a reason for the redesigns in the first place! Compare that to what Ninja Theory did with DMC and you see that their reasoning is actually coherent by comparison. The only real problem is that a majority of the fanbase simply hates Dante's look. The hatred is in no way lessened by the fact that the new design makes Tameem look like he was trying to insert himself into a popular franchise by replacing the iconic character with himself.Art director Matthias Lorenz said they wanted a ?more appealing, more compelling main character,? so that is why they decided upon a redesign. With regards to his new personality, Animation Director Billy Harper revealed the studio wanted Cole to be ?a little gritty, a little street, without the grumpiness.? Going farther, they described Cole as an ?EXTREME sports star ? like Travis Pastrana, Tony Hawk or Chris Sharma ? what would they be like if they had super powers.?
Hear, hear! IMO, Dante was still seen as cool by most of the fanbase, so a radical change wasn't needed.TheBaron87 said:I wasn't getting bored of old Dante
Well, I don't know about you, but I'd rather have the old Dante on my TV than this one. Not sure why, but there is something about this one that doesn't sit right with me. Granted, I can't pass any judgement on the game itself since I haven't played it yet.Sinclose said:Put like this, it sounds like a giant dick move, especially if all the hate towards Ninja Theory was unfounded, considering their first designs apparently were close to the original.
Can still see how this strategy makes sense from their perspective though, and there's truth to it, but still...

Mario and Super Mario World Mario. Something that would say, this is actually the character we're telling you it is, not just some thing we drew. They say that the most creativity comes from working around your constraints.
However, what would be even more creative is having an original IP for once.
CAPCOM.
Does this count?
Agreed.Khaun said:I call BS, Capcom just came out with this statement to make it look like an elaborate ruse to fool people into talking about a game. When did Capcom get marketing sence ?
