Did anywhere NOT get nuked in Fallout?

just wondering did anywhere NOT get nuked in Fallout because most of the major cities seemed to get leveled and even whenever places like New Vegas AREN'T nuked they still seem to be a wasteland, so aside from the threads obvious question another one would be which countries weren't affected? my guess would be the likes of Ireland, Finland, Norway and a few asian and african ones

The intro to Fallout 1 mentions a global black rain that deposited fallout around the globe, killing what was left of the ecosystem.

Also, plenty of places not directly hit by the bombs got their dose of radiation some other way, like Pittsburgh, which by virtue of sitting at the confluence of three rivers got well and truly irradiated. I imagine anyplace near a river suffered the same fate, and the rest got groundwater corruption (unless it just got lucky---like the Goodsprings Source in New Vegas which somehow escaped getting irradiated to the point where locals were able to tap it.)

Canada was annexed by the US in the Fallout Universe. so it more likely than not got a nuke
burrito.

Speaking of burritos, Mexico didn't get hit, but it probably is still inhaling fallout.

It doesn't matter if they got hit or not they are still boned, it was a full scale thermonuclear war, if you didn't get nuked the fallout would effect at least 10 mile radius, killing or irradiating everything.
Hiroshima was a tiny nuke, it still levelled a fair few miles, if a modern nuke went off expect it to take out A lot more than that.

Yeah, the world pretty much screwed itself in the everywhere with missiles. So far nothing has really been shown to be nuke free. to quote:

Technically it depends on how you define getting nuked. If getting nuked strictly means that the area in question was hit by or was in the blast radius of a nuclear device then no, quite a bit wasn't nuked. If, however, nuked means that the area was at the least affected by the nuclear fallout then yes, pretty much everywhere got nuked.

Well, a lot of it depends on the accuracy and strength of the bombs deployed by China and the US. Assuming they use weapons with the accuracy of American nukes now, then chances are there were no major misses, and yes there will be areas that didn't get hit. You also have to take into account bombers that may have been shot down en route to their destination that may have inadvertently set off their payloads, or started dropping some of their cargo in an effort to at least get one bomb on their target.

So in short, unless they actually either make a game in a region that wasn't nuked, or they expand on it by declaring in-game that regions didn't get hit, it's entirely up to yourself as to what you want to believe.

So not:
All of Africa, (perhaps not Egypt, Morocco, South Africa, Congo)
South America, perhaps a bit of Mexico would be hit, Greenland, Australia/New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Portugal.
I don't think that most of the world would be hit. Then again, if China and India got hit then it's 1/3 of the world would be dead.... except for all the people who survive .

You have to realize that if the US and China nuked each other they would focus mainly on each other, and other nuclear powers, then their allies. So it wouldn't really be a world apocalypse.

It's interesting that Russia vanishes from the radar in the games. In 2001 Russia and China formed the Shanghai Cooperation - a sort of Asian NATO , so I'm surprised none of this made it into game cannon - even heavily modified.

I would've thought Africa would'nt be directly obliterated, just severe radiation poisoning, unless NATO siezes the oportunity to take out Mr Mugabe. I would love to see a Fallout game set in London, yeah seeing the DC Ruins and the Mojave Wastelands is cool, but I really want to experiance a post apocalyptic game in England, also wandering through the deserted corridors of Buckingham Palace or The House Of Commons would be pretty cool.

Imagine the Underground Metro. Filled with Ghoul Chavs/Raiders. Holy shit!

Tactics is non-canon unless events in a main series game (3 and NV) reference it directly. Same for Van Buren (Black Isle's canceled Fallout 3, which is heavily referenced in New Vegas).

For a game series that has spanned years, changed development hands, and shown massive shifts in style, Fallout's more consistent than most.

I did the math , the events of New Vegas are 119 years from Fallout 1. The nukes do seem to hit in October 2077.

Apparently England was the most powerful Commonwealth country left standing in the world (commonwealth meaning all of Europe) so its likely that somewhere like Newcastle or York + other northern towns would not have been directly hit, London would have been f***ed over..

I also hear that The Institute of Technology in Massachusetts fared pretty well..

As wikipedia puts it:" Commonwealth of Nations or the Commonwealth, an organisation of the United Kingdom and mostly former colonies."
If you look at the map of the todays Commonwealth, you will see that it didn't cover much ground in Europe at all.
