LOL!!!! What is this shit! If we were to refund EVERY shitty sequel that ever came out the video game industry would be buried 500,000 feet under in a matter of minutes!
He's complaining about the PS3 version specifically. He believes it's an inferior version of the game, compared to the PC/360 versions.
However, I agree, it seems he's over reacting. If it's true, it's pretty annoying, and the lack of online split screen is really stup...

Never mind. He's just an idiot apparently.

Not trying to start any wars here, but honestly, the Wii's hardware and software is a little worse then the 360's and PS3's.
And...these PS3 owners are complaining why again? Oh right. And mind you because of what you said..Wii owners aren't complaining. Just the PS3 owners.
Well I think it's a little unfair to say the all PS3 players are complaining. He's lying about the lack of spit screen. I have it on PS3 and love it, and it's only 322 people that are really just stupid.

Wait, the PS3 version doesn't have split-screen multiplayer?

Well thats lame.
It does. This petition is just whining from someone who is imagining problems. Can't wait to see it crash and burn.

It does. That guy's talking out of his ass.
Sorry, I meant to say online split-screen multiplayer. If it does then yeah, this guy's a prick. If not, well that is pretty weak.

Correction...NOT ALL ps3 owners are complaining. I know he's lying. I played it at my cousins house and it was good and smooth. Some loss in frame rate but I encountered that in the Wii and X360 too. I've played all versions of Black Ops and I own the Wii and X360 and they are all good. If any one is to complain, its the Wii owners, but they aren't. They don't care. And those 322 are idiots. I do agree.

I don't think he meant to say that there is no split screen Mr Westbrook. I think he is mad about how two different profiles can be leveled up at the same time on the 360 vs. the PS3 which can only log into one account at a time. This quote from the petition proves that: "Remember how Treyarch confirmed online split-screen a few weeks back? Well, they have now just said that gamers will have the ability to sign in with two separate online accounts, but ONLY on the Xbox 360 version. It means that two people with an Xbox Live Gold account can sign in on one 360 console and rank up individually.

If you think this is a lot of entitled dumbfucks, just go to any given forum on piracy. It is absolutely preposterous. And the PS3 version definitely has splitscreen, I have played it on my friends console before and it is exactly the same. I am not exactly sure what the petitioner is complaining about.

Well, it's a more capable machine. The problem seems to arise from building a game on architecture that's different to that of the 2 other platforms, although the PC version is reportedly shoddy too.

Thought I'd point out that what a lot of the complaint seems to be about is that the PS3 users got charged the same amount as the 360'ers for a product which is not completely identical. So at a guess what he is looking for is for the game to be cheaper on the PS3 than on the 360, in the same way that since the Wii is also lacking in features it is being sold at a lower price than the other consoles (generalisation from online prices).

Also on a separate note, as has been mentioned above the article misquotes the petition and whilst the ps3 users do get split screen online, we can't have 2 accounts active while doing this which is what the 360 gets. On one hand this is a fairly petty complaint to make but on the other, as it is possible, why not just do it in the first place? Seems lazy to me.

This has more to do with that certain type of PS3 douche who thinks graphics are everything. There are always slight differences for the same game on different platforms but in no way is the game unplayabe. Im sure any differences are only noticable if you played it side by side with a 360.

The petitioner needs to grow up.
Why would someone have a console if they cared about graphics?
Exactly. Shell out on a gaming rig if graphics give you such a semi.

if its any consolation, the 360 version didnt blow me away, it has its moments but is pretty mediocre generally.

Really, it's the Wii version that gets the short end of the stick on this one. That and almost every port of any game.
Exactly, the guy complaining about the PS3 version makes no sense. I have the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Graphic wise barely any difference. Online multi-player, they still have it you can't just sign in on two diff. profiles which is fine.

This guy is just starting shit for absolutely no reason imo, The Power Stone 3 petition is more important than this. Maybe if he was talking about the Wii version I'd be more inclined to agree cause they got ripped off 100%.

If you're going to sign a petition, sign one that really matters like Canadian Bulldogs (don't pretend you don't know who he is) petition to get Pretty Paul Roma into the WWE Hall of Fame, not this crap that everyone should've seen coming.

Maybe it should be that way, though.

Then again, if these guys didn't rush out and blindly buy the game, they wouldn't have the problem.

Begs the question why they aren't just going back to the shop they bought it from and using the age old "it's shit, I want my money back," argument.

Done politely it never fails. Although this way has far more drama for the Llama.
Because most places (I can't comment on the places where ever you live) have policies stating that they can't fully refund an opened video game due to piracy concerns.
That excuse doesnt really fly for the ps3, as up until very recently (and still only effects games from before patch 3.42 (i think)) the ps3 was unable to run pirated games.

I don't have any consoles at all, so I'm certainly not a fanboy of any of them. But if the PS3 architecture is really as complex as people in this thread have been saying, and Black Ops is a complex game in the first place, I'm not really surprised that there were some things that didn't make it over in the transfer. Restriction in the hardware architecture is still restriction in the hardware, and PS3 owners should accept the fact that games which weren't originally designed to run on a PS3 are likely not to be as good as their original console counterparts.
danpascooch said:
(To avoid confusion, I'm a new guy, not the one you quoted)

I know the PS3 has more powerful hardware, but I don't think it's the fact that the developers are lazy, it's that the PS3 is a labyrinth of unnecessary confusion and confounding functions that make it much harder than it needs to be for developers.

I don't know the specifics, but this was coming from my GSD (Game Software Development) professor who has a PHD (I can't remember exactly what she has a PHD in, because I'm not sure what PHD's are available that are related to Game Design, but I know for a fact it was relevant) so I'm inclined to believe it.
I can reply to both of these at the same time.

Actually what Sony did was fairly clever. They distributed the processing over 3 cells instead of 2 like the 360. But what the 3 cell system can't do is run one process on all 3 cells at the same time. The 360 can run one process on both of it's cells.

So lets say the output of each cell is 1. The 360 can have a total output of 2. And the PS3 can have 3. But the 360 can dedicate 2 to one process. Whilst the PS3 can only ever dedicate 1 to any one process.

At-least that's how I understand it.

But what it means is that the PS3 can have more going on at anyone time, but it's harder to program for. Essentially they went for performance over simplicity. But apparently if you build it with the PS3 in mind from the beginning. Then it's not all that much hassle. And it's easier to port from PS3 to a 360 than the other way around. Because you don't have to consider processing to another cell.
In an interview with the Official PlayStation Magazine, and transcribed by Eurogamer, SCEI head Kazuo Hirai said that the PlayStation 3 was intentionally designed to be a difficult platform for developers to work on. Wait, what?

"We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so then the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine-and-a-half years?" explained Hirai.
http://www.tomsguide.com/us/sony-playstation-ps3-developers-hirai,news-3346.html

There is more to it than the number of cores, from this interview one of the Sony executives claims they did it to stretch out the life of the console, by essentially shooting themselves in the foot, which has to be the most ass-backwards bat shit insane reasoning I've ever heard.
