I don't know about you guys, but this misunderstanding about the online split-screen and whatnot can easily be clarified by reading previous posts:

I don't think he meant to say that there is no split screen Mr Westbrook. I think he is mad about how two different profiles can be leveled up at the same time on the 360 vs. the PS3 which can only log into one account at a time. This quote from the petition proves that: "Remember how Treyarch confirmed online split-screen a few weeks back? Well, they have now just said that gamers will have the ability to sign in with two separate online accounts, but ONLY on the Xbox 360 version. It means that two people with an Xbox Live Gold account can sign in on one 360 console and rank up individually.
There are probably more who bothered to click on the links in the article at all. Even then, the fact that he started an online petition with one of the many reasons being no online split-screen must have at least meant that he had the game at some point, meaning that he may not be talking out of his ass. Otherwise, that reason can be easily misunderstood and taken out of context like most of the posters here. So... you know... read moar.

Begs the question why they aren't just going back to the shop they bought it from and using the age old "it's shit, I want my money back," argument.

Done politely it never fails. Although this way has far more drama for the Llama.
Just wondering but how exactly would do something like that in a polite way? I'm not trolling, just wondering how would you go about it.

Mine works find. Okay, there was this ONE time where I shot an enemy just a grenade blew him up. End result: He didn't die, but became immortal. I shot him with two full magazines, and a few rounds from a shotgun, but he kept coming. Finally ended up pinning me in a corner and shot me to death with his shotgun. And it was on veteran. Grr...
But that's the only time I have had a problem with the game.

You're kidding right?

The PS3 has the best hardware out of all the consoles. It's problem is it's complex architecture. Which means sometimes lazy developers port it from the 360 version (which is easier to make) and that leads to a whole host of problems later on.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but don't be a fanboy.
(To avoid confusion, I'm a new guy, not the one you quoted)

I know the PS3 has more powerful hardware, but I don't think it's the fact that the developers are lazy, it's that the PS3 is a labyrinth of unnecessary confusion and confounding functions that make it much harder than it needs to be for developers.

I don't know the specifics, but this was coming from my GSD (Game Software Development) professor who has a PHD (I can't remember exactly what she has a PHD in, because I'm not sure what PHD's are available that are related to Game Design, but I know for a fact it was relevant) so I'm inclined to believe it.
Game designers are figuring how to work with the system and Sony is being much nicer to anybody wanting to make bug fixes, updates, and use what ever system inside the game they want. Microsoft demands payment for any use of their system and all added content must take the form of DLC (why Valve jumped from the 360 to the PS3 as their console of choice). However, there still is a long road ahead for developers.
I never said they were a more closed system, I applaud the fact that they offer less regulation on updates and patching, I'm only talking about specifically MAKING the original game, it's harder to do on the PS3, a LOT harder, and unnecessarily harder in many cases.
Good point.

They need Isaiah Mufasta to come and save them, cause seriously, when did written petitions ever accomplish anything?

Really, it's the Wii version that gets the short end of the stick on this one. That and almost every port of any game.
Warren Spector felt your pain and decided to give the Wii Epic Mickey. Lucky bastards.

That depends on how you look at it. The PS3 is perfectly capable for running a game like Black Ops, but a lot of devs (Treyarch included) find it very hard to develop games on it, so they make the game on the 360 or something and then make a port to the PS3. But it just so happens that this was shitty one.

Wait, the PS3 version doesn't have online split-screen multiplayer?

Well thats lame.
It does, he's crazy. I played it yesterday.

To be fair to the guy, my game froze 31 times in the week I've had it. Playing an hour a day, tops.

Obviously they've never tried playing a Bethesda game on launch day. Suck it up wimps, you have no idea what kind of masochism real love for a game/series can lead a gamer to endure.

Sadly it's a lack of any kind of solidarity even on important issues...
Were talking about the odd graphical issue here not not third world debt or war in the middle east. The issues on the petition are far from important, they dont even "ruin" the game.
Actually, by reports you are not seeing minor graphical issues, but some rather signifigant ones. What's more an entire mode for the game, the split-screen co-op is missing from the product.

It's only not signifigant if it didn't affect you, or you didn't want the mising feature to begin with.

This is not a big issue like the ones you descibe, it's a smaller one that affects all of us gamers and how we are treated by the industry. If we keep shelling out to companies that gouge us, or pull moves like this, we are ultimatly hurting ourselves.

I have a hard time believing you've never been irritated with the industry or screwed on a game. If your that lucky, with time it will happen, then you'll be that guy, and won't appreciate the kind of responses your giving.

Ultimatly the biggest obstacle to gamers demanding more of the gaming industry, less exploitive and predatory pricing, and a higher quality of product (I mean look at how many games are released as buggy messes today, with the companies taking months after we paid to fix things that should have been resolved to begin with. Half the time these guys seem to be releasing what should be considered beta software it seems) is ourselves.

I mean I understand the whole "I want immediate gratification, and Black Ops. is a decent game" point of view. You can replace "Black Ops." with any one of numerous other games run by companies gouging consumers and delivering shoddy products, it's just that Activision is unusually bad about it. The problem is that until we as gamers are willing to go without in order to get fair treatment, we're never going to see it. The only way to change things is to hit the industry in their collective wallets. We're also dealing with a cancer, patronizing products like the "Call Of Duty" series with it's overprice map packs, which people continue to buy DESPITE their constant complaints, is exactly why we see companies like Capcom deciding to do things like hold back characters from "Marvel Vs. Capcom 3" and charge people for them singly.

It's also noteworthy that the fact that as a community we won't stop buying games, even temporarily for our own long term interest, plays into the whole idea of "gaming addiction". I don't believe such a thing exists, but when we exhibit the same behaviors, we can't complain very much. Guys like Bobby Kotick handle gamers much like how pushers handle junkies.
