We Americans could never hate you Canada, you are the coolest hat anyone has ever had the pleasure of having. Why would we give you up?
...
All kidding aside, America in my opinion has always seemed to have a much closer bond with Britain rather than Canada. Britain is a father nation to both America and Canada, and when hostilities between "Father and son" ended after the War of 1812 America and Britain have been stable trading partners for almost 200 years, helped save the world from oppression in World War II, and helped shape the political and military environment of the world together after World War II during the Cold War. Canada in the eyes of America is like a distant brother that he never interacts with much outside of limited cultural exchange and for money (Canada is currently one of our biggest trading partners), while Britain is the Dad that we want to spend time with because we have accomplished more together.
It is not that we dislike Canada and its citizens, we just need to accomplish more together as Military, Political, and Business partners for America to appreciate what Canada means to us. Personally though I do recognize Canada's importance as an ally to America, World War II in particular showed how you could fight with the big boys easily enough, but I will always find humor in the jokes that we can make about Canada as we can't always take ourselves too seriously. America's insanity in particular could be ragged on all day but we mean well at the end of the day, so don't get mad at your big brother if he slaps ya around and makes a few jokes at your expense.
