Good for Bioware for sticking to their guns...unlike Microsoft....who apologized to them.

Star Wars is a part of my most precious childhood memories; sorry, but I don't want any gayness in it.
I hope Bioware won't turn the next game set in the Old Republic into a Gay Pride parade because of this incident.
Heh. You clearly had missed how campy those films were (granted, it was light on the camp, but it was still there). Seriously, watch them now and tell me you can't see campy elements in the film.

Safe doesn't mean right.
Words like that are good in debates such as the autism vaccine debate. Not here.

Sorry you have such a problem with these people. But it doesn't make you morally superior. No individual, nor group, has a monopoly on the moral high ground. Not your bigoted kind, not the "politically correct" kind you hold in contempt. But most certainly not you.
I cant see any camp.

Their is a third perspective here. Star Wars doesnt do sex. Steamiest thing is SW is Han kissing Leia Wooooooooooo Saucy, and some chicks in bikinis, Hans barechested and tied up so that all balances out.

In normal people world (The one where weird cellar dwelling perverts dont have virtual text sex with virtual avatars in a virtual world using terms and situations that will never happen to them in real life without a hefty cash payment) normal people dont log on to indulge in sexual fantasies while killing 10 womprats to get the pattern to make a shirt of womprat hide.

So sexuality is irrelevant as it should be in games.

You dont climb in the cockpit of a Me-109 in IL2 sturmovic thinking Im going to be the best damn homosexual pilot the Luftwaffe has ever seen ? Yes SW is a RPG but try RPing a SW character instead of a freaky pervert that sexualises games and childrens films (Yes fanbois its a kids film, the ADF books are a bit more grown up but only a 15 IMHO).

Sex and games = Creepy stereotype stop it.
Why is it that when someone says gay peoples mind instantly jumps to sex?

Doesn't that make YOU the pervert trying to sexualize everything?

Whats wrong with people wanting the option for a same sex romance? I don't see anything perverted about that at all.

If you really want to stick with your argument and don't want to be a hypocrite, you better start complaining about straight relationships in games.

dont change things just because of something that happened because once everyone calms down they will see it was just something to blow out of proportion

This thread is vastly becoming a mixture of Essay Material for an article on Godwin's law.

Personally I can't see why Bioware didn't just nip it in the bud and say "Gay people are in Star Wars" then it wouldnt be an issue.

Though it sounds to me like incompetant mods and I doubt any of this "No gay" stuff is from Lucas who is probably off planning a new franchise to spirinkle ruin on.

I want to laugh, but it just wasn't funny.
Of course, I only want to laugh because if you were serious, I'd have to insult you, and frankly I'm too tired for that.
Start insulting me. I was dead serious. I absolutely can not stand gays. Their existence is intolerable.
oh sweety dont be so mean, come down to Australia and ill show you how .... tolerable they can be ;)

I'm thinking that the idea here was to stamp out use of the words as a slur, by use of the slightly disingenuous route of "those words don't exist". The echo-chamber effect here has conflated this with " There are no gays in Star Wars", but I believe I've heard EU sources hint at same-sex relationships. It's not going to be referred to by the same vocabulary if it's referred to at all, and wouldn't it be just the right sort of utopia for wrong-headed political correctness if all relationships are considered equal and thus demanding no special words? Obviously that's not a sensible approach, but refusal to use specific words by no means implies a stand on one side or the other of the issue. (Particularly not for Bioware, given their track record here. I suspect that it's involved in their loose LucasArts directives and operating procedures and they've just taken a blunt approach without clarification)

The Star Wars universe *itself* is basically an Essay on Godwin's Law: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Sub-Adult_Groups
Good to know they took it even furthur than "Stormtroopers"

I'm just hoping they don't furthur things and invent a series following the Empire and it's Concentration camps.

This is where things get out of hand. When you have people who want to bring the issue of homosexuality in video games because they want the issue of homosexuality to be known.

What ever happend to just sitting down and enjoying a game?
BioWare has been selling "romances" as one of the defining elements of their style of game-making for over a decade now.
Yeah, complaining about "romance" in a BioWare game is like complaining about how those GTA games are full of hookers.
Don't!!!! Damnit, now it's Rockstars who will be bashed for being homophobic since they forgot to add homosexuals prostitutes, and boyfriends? Since as far I remember, the only boyfriend I had to date, I shot him, in the legs, watch him crawl, then in the head and chopped his fingers off to trade it for a nuka-cola :(

On a more serious notes, while I believe an RPG should off enough room for the player to create a character that fits his taste (and of course, reflect his background etc ... ), I really don't see what more we are going to argue about, BioWare are out to create an MMO that merge a vast world to explore, rp capabilities with a single player experience along in it's storytelling, maybe the PC will be able to have intimate relationship with a member of the same-sex or not. Can't blame the writers for being homophobic just because the story, and mainly, the companions characters are not interested in you.
