This is always a fun video. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GqzupY_BQI]

Do I think alien life exists? Yes.

Do I think intelligent alien life exists? Yes.

Do I think that intelligent alien life has visited Earth? No clue. I don't really care, nor do I see why I should.

Do I think interstellar travel with a reasonable amount of travel time (maybe a few years at most) will be possible? Yes. Probably in the very near future.

Do I think we'll ever make first contact with an alien society? Yes. Most definitely.

What do we really know about the ways of the Universe? Who are we? We're just some ignorant animals on a small blue and green rock circling around a small star at the edge of a whirling galaxy. The Universe is a big place, and we've only barely begun to test the waters.

Define exist. Its statistically extremely likely that there is life on other planest. Although saying that, it is also extremely unlikely, to the point of being nearly impossible that we would ever come in contact with them. So there are most likely these things somewhere in the universe, we will never see, hear, smell or touch them. Do you class that as existing? (This isnt meant to be snide or stuck up, im genuinely curious of what people think)

Alright so from what I gather, most of you believe aliens exist.. But don't believe they've visited earth or ever will?

But if they're aliens.. And happen to be WAY technologically advanced than we are, what's to say that a light year to them is not all that far?
That traveling between galaxies is easy for them?

I'm not trying to tell you all that you're wrong, I'm just creating more discussion and getting my idea out there.
To what end would that be? Are they intergalactic trolls who like to creep up on us and LOL at our reactions? Or maybe they've acquired a taste for probing human anuses? I suppose they're all valid hypotheses when talking about this sort of thing.

Serious time now.
First things first. There is nothing, absolutely no evidence to suggest that any alien lifeforms have ever visited this planet.
"What about all them lights in the sky? They gotta be alien!" No, they don't.
The great majority of videos or photos depicting alien crafts are either fakes, or something else entirely. Take the supposed UFO's from the video you've posted.
The Norwegian Spiral, and the Jerusalem Lights? They've both been proven to be fakes. The Moscow Halo? It's a meteorological event called Fallstreak hole. The UFO sighted in Hangzhou, China? This one's a bit trickier.
The photos depicting an elongated beam of light are fakes, and are actually long-exposure photos of aircrafts, which weren't even photographed in China. The photos and videos of a bright object in motion leaving a huge trail behind it are real, and the Chinese authorities have claimed responsibility for it, saying that it's connected to the military - whatever 'it' may be.

Do I think aliens exist? I don't know. Do I think we'll ever make contact with them? I don't know.
I don't understand the fascination that some people have with the notion of extraterrestrial life, particularly if the aliens would be more technologically advanced than us. I mean, how do you know if they're not blood-thirsty conquerors, or if they think that rape is a fun pastime?
What I'm saying is that I think we could all do with a little more objectivity, and less talk of creepy gray men from deep space.

The thing is, who says we are not the most advanced species on earth?

And I don't remember this very well, but I believe that in order to visit earth the aliens wold need a massive space ship with massive engines, so you could travel faster than speed of light and get here and still be alive.

I could have sworn those spirals over Norway were debunked...I would think though, that it's the more advanced civilizations trying to give us a hint about interstellar travel. Or maybe they're making fun of us by showing us giant celestial anus's.

Anyway, there is nothing to believe in. Life exists off of Earth, the Universe is too large and too varied for our little planet to be the only one harboring intelligent life. Hell, not even intelligent, I'm sure there are other planets covered with hyper-intelligent beings, planets with rudimentary life and everything in between. You know how your mom or dad would tell you that no matter how good you are at something there's always someone better? That's humanity on the galactic scale. There's someone or something out there who are higher up. There are things and creatures and, people out there who are not at our level. It's all just a matter of finding them and of being found by them.

Obviously some of them know where we are. I don't see why they're being so shy though.

Aliens yes they should exist nearby don't think so... and intelligent aliens (i.e. a "civilization") is possible but not very near earth.. Or to go even further space traveling etc (you know future version) well I believe it when I meet one,..

Even if the universe is infinite, that doesn't mean that there is an infinite amount of matter in it. So I feel like the "somewhere in this infinite universe there HAS to be life" argument is a bit lacking. Nevertheless, I think that life on other planets has existed or will exist in the future, but it might not be the kind of life we are used to. It almost certainly won't be able to contact us, whether due to time or space or the complete differences between our definitions of "life."

I think that most of the sightings are natural phenomena, optical illusions, hallucinations, hoaxes, man-made aircraft, or unknown objects of terrestrial origin. They COULD be aliens, but I find it unlikely.

Aliens pretty much have to exist. The universe is far too big to only play host to just one planet full of life. The tricky part is, life as we know it requires very precise conditions to exist. (Key words being "as we know it.")

First, you need water. More precisely, you need water composed of hydrogen and oxygen. (Or at least, that's what I've been told. I personally think it's a tad arrogant to assume that it HAS to be these exact compounds when we still know so little about the universe as a whole) Second, the planet/planetoid needs to be a specific distance from the sun. If it's too close, solar winds will devastate the magnetic field, and the planet will become inhospitable. If the planet/planetoid is too far from the sun, then it's probably too cold for life to thrive. It needs to be at just the right distance, which is why we call it the Goldilocks Zone. Lastly, you need lightning/electricity. Without it, microscopic life can't form in the water.

If there's any sort of extraterrestrial life close to us, then it's most likely microscopic. And it would most likely be on Enceladus (A moon of Saturn), as the surface is composed of ice made out of H20 water. The absolute best we can hope for is some kind of alien-fish, but it's pretty unlikely.

Now considering how big the universe is, it's foolish to think there aren't other planets like Earth. Even if they don't have the same elements, being in the Goldilocks Zone significantly boosts the chances of life existing. Besides, take a look around you. Everything you see came from the Earth, which is a byproduct of the universe. If the universe is capable of producing us, then it probably wouldn't be a one-time thing.

Though I don't really believe we have been 'visited'. I wouldn't call it impossible, but there just isn't any substantial evidence, nothing that's been made public anyways.

Nope. Simple probability is the only "evidence" that we're not alone in the Universe. And I have a pretty broad definition of "life". But I don't believe that we're visited/guided/ruled by aliens of any kind. The "aliens" phenomenon is just a mass psychological symptom of our western society's departure from the classical organized religion.

And to further summarize your point good sir, allow me to present this for our fellow escapists!

Do I believe aliens exist? Yes, I do.
Do I believe aliens have visited the earth? No, they haven't.
Do I believe mankind will make contact with aliens in the next 500/600 years? Very unlikely...

This amuses me.

Because aliens only exist where I come from.

Assuming the internet is infinite, they must be out there somewhere.

Yet I think it is near impossible to ever have contact with them.

EDIT: I made a bullshit post earlier in this thread, didn't I?

Calvin and Hobbes is awesome.
But back on topic, I don't know, maybe there are aliens out there, but I doubt that they have visited us.

It's almost statistically impossible for Earth to be the only planet hosting what could be defined as "life" in this galaxy, let alone this universe.

That said, estimations vary widely on how common life is compared to Earth-sized Goldilocks planets. Some say that most planets that form similar to ours produce life, others say that it's still incredibly unlikely.

In any event, yeah, we're definitely not alone, but it could be millions of years before we find simple bacteria on another planet, let alone an intelligent species that hasn't eradicated itself by the time of our arrival.
