Do you consider yourself intelligent?

I have a recorded intelligence quotient of 140, placing me in the 99.99th percentile of human intelligence. This means that, out of the entire population of the world, only 0.01% of them will have an I.Q. equal to or greater than mine. I'm not bragging, this is what the psychologist who tested me said.

I wouldn't consider myself more intelligent than the average person my age, at least not academically. However, I believe that I am fairly adept at determining logical solutions to difficult problems. I'm also a bit of a random knowledge whore.

I think I know more stuff then most people, but the things I do know I don't know as well as most people. In terms of actual brain capacity I think that its variable, but overall I don;t think I'm that smart I just think I listen better.

I wouldn't say overly intelligent. I should hope I'm smarter then the average bear, and I am able to retain some rather obscure facts, but that's it.

I certain I have an above average intellect. At least in certain areas. I do very well academically. Mostly because I like to take easy classes. I just need a 4.0 to be happy. I don't need any honors or AP classes. I try to avoid those. >>'

In addition the fact that I'm competent in most areas is enough to make me think I'm smart too. Still, I'd like to be better at English... I'm incredibly paranoid about my spelling and grammar.

However, I think Role Playing via the internet has greatly improved my competence in that area.

My two best areas of intellect would have to be Geography and History. ^^'

Intelligence is only useful if the difference between yours and someone else has proven big enough to make a difference time and time again. As such I'm much prouder when someone calls me creative than intelligent.

I totally agree with this. In the real world, creativity brings more than just intelligence.(although they frequently go hand in hand.)

I don't like to think of intelligence as a linear thing going from stupid to genius. Intelligence is more complex then that, and it comes in many different forms. I think my intelligence lies more in creativity and social and political issues, things that don't tend to be valued in my school. I'm not very good at math or science, but I think I have keen sense for appreciating and creating art, especially music. I'm not good at remembering tons of formulas and equations, but I love talking about the flaws of society, the error in how we approach our problems, and other more social and political things.

I don't think you understand, frequently hand in hand isn't quite right.

You can't just say one is more beneficial than the other. Without both, neither work. Intelligence without creativity is a taskless super computer thats not worth plugging in. Creativity without intelligence is every piece of meaningless art you've ever seen.

No excess of one will compensate a lack of the other.

Not really super-intelligent, my teachers and peers refer to me as intelligent (or a complete retard when I feel like being one), academically, yeah I absorb and remember information well and I am usually more mature and logical than my friends being able to solve most people's problems in a matter of words. Also I can form structured debates and argue over logical points and take/give constructive criticism so yeah I consider myself fairly intelligent for my age group, its not hard though considering half my age group is pregnant/on drugs/drunk.

Not genius level though.

I would consider myself intelligent and well rounded. I mainly excel academically in math and science. I do get a lot of "you're the smartest person I know"; which oddly irritates me...

So yes, I believe I'm intelligent but not as much as others would think.

all i know, is that i have the potential to become more intelligent. how intelligent i don't know. for all i know, everyone with a mind in working order has this same potential.

i have no facts to go on and would love to think that i'm some unique genius amidst 7 billion others, but that doesn't seem at all likely with those odds.

even if i were, what would it matter? there has probably been an even more intelligent man who lived his whole life doing physical labor, who was never told he was intelligent. in fact it doesn't even matter unless i do something with it.

Not at all. Maybe I will consider myself intelligent in the future, but as of now I have much to learn. I would argue though, that a very small selection of posters here are truly intelligent.

Edit: If we're simply comparing IQ test results, then I'm in the upper level. However, those tests are entirely useless as far as intelligence is concerned.
