I consider myself to be abominably intelligent.

So much so that I put all my points into INT and forgot what WIS really meant to me.

Common sense kicks my ass every time...

I do not consider myself smart so much as learned.

It depends on my mood. Anyone who reads my post history will see major shifts in tone and vocabulary all over the place. I'm borderline MPD.

I get straight A's in all my courses with MINIMAL effort at my high school(and I'm starting my final year soon) that cares a decent amount about it's academics, so I believe that I am intelligent, but not of genius intelligence.

However grades do not necessarily mean smarts, or lack of. Since there are different areas of intelligence besides academic (Logical-mathematical):

Kinesthetic (physical movement)
Linguistic (language IE: puns, wordplay, diction, etc)
Musical (dealing with....music)
Interpersonal (how you understand how YOU think, react, etc)
Intrapersonal (how well you deal with and interact others)
Naturalist (how well you understand nature)
Spatial (deals with colors, organization, and art)

So how do I fare with each group?

Logical-mathematical: quite good to excellent
Linguistic: excellent (except for when it comes to spelling and rare grammar mishap)
Musical: defiantly above average but perhaps not quite excellent

Kinesthetic: I'd I assume this one is below average :(

Interpersonal: excellent in this one
Intrapersonal: about average

Naturalist: if i get lost in a forest i know more then enough to get out, but then again so do (hopefully) any decently smart person so a bit above average

Spatial: I barely scraped by in middle school art, and when I 'organize' it doesn't stay that way for long so.. horrible

So yes I suppose I do believe to be an intelligent person

On a side note despite being young(or at least not being a full fledged adult) I have an uncanny attention span of about 55 minutes. FIFTY FIVE minutes, I tested it while enduring particularity boring classes.

Yea, I would say that I am pretty intelligent, more so than the average person that is.

Still do a lot of stupid shit, though

Well, compared to other 15 year old, teenaged girls, I would say I have a little more common sense. My talents aren't very useful. I'm smart when it comes to school work, but that doesn't mean much. I can be perceptive, and I'm self-aware, but I'm not intelligent. Maybe 'above average.'

I am somewhere between an idiot and dumb. I was kidding...slightly. I consider myself to be smarter than many in my grade, however, I am as dumb as a rock. Well, ok, maybe not that bad. I am sure 99.9% of you are higher up intellectually than I.

I don't consider myself smart, I just consider myself to be rational, which you would think equated to, I don't know, like, neutral level of intelligence, maybe slightly above. Unfortunately for every person like me who actually uses their brain to some extent, there are a million socialite losers who's lives, actions, and opinions literally revolve around whatever is popular at the time. So if we're going strictly by comparison, I would say I am.

I mean, you won't see me invent some new groundbreaking supercomputer anytime soon, but you'll never see me wearing shutter shades either.

If only lacking somewhat in self-worth and confidence...

...yes, yes I would. Come on guys, either you're smart or you aren't. You ARE in a position to decide that, that's the point of the First World, you think whatever you want. Don't hold back on your opinion just 'cause you're afraid of some hypocrite coming in and labeling you "pretentious".

edit: typo

Everybody thinks they're superior.That's a fact.

Except people like me with low self-esteem.

I am barely above avg at least by IQ.

I like to think I am reasonably intelligent, but then again one must define what it means to be intelligent.

I attend a selective school, and am doing reasonably well in regard to my cohort (not topping anything, but definitely above average) but the guys who are ranking first are the tutored types, those who only score well because they choose to dedicate time and effort to memorise something that will be probably useless when they start their carrieres. So does this mean that intelligence is based on ability to memorise? Personally, I don't think so. It should be noted that the education system (in Australia) does not necessarily award you marks based on intelligence, rather for memorising what a textbook/tutor has written for you without actually understanding the key principles behind such theories. This may seem like a whinge since I'm not doing as well as I should, but keep in mind that those who do not get a good ATAR (similar to the Baccalaureate and SAT score) aren't necessarily stupid.

To me, intelligence is defined by articulateness and fluency in a language of choice, being able to solve problems, being able to reason (i.e. use logic) and understanding current theories on how the world works. Though that last one may be geared towards those who prefer the sciences/maths over English. Oh yeah, and that thing called common sense (which ironically is not so common).

NOTE: I'd just like a moment to point out and laugh at the people who consider themselves intellectuals, yet fail to prove this by using incorrect spelling or punctuation.

We all know that 'ol saying. The Escapist is the only place in the entire interwebz to have an intelligent conversation. So, do you consider yourself an intellectual of your age group? The smartest in a sea of stupidity?

Me? I don't really consider myself all that smart. At best, above average. But I really don't don't talk like I'm some smartass. Even if I was just being hard on myself, I really don't think I'm smarter than most people. Obviousley there are exceptions, but all in all I'm not that kind of guy.
This is my answer.
And mine.
The above averge musketeers.

I'm doing a PhD in chemistry. What do you think?
Well I think you're pretentious.

Moving on It's funny how everyone posted 'above average' or something to that effect. Not that I doubt any of you it's just terribly generic and had I not read all off your posts I may have followed suit.

Finally, I'd like to think so, I've been called witty and "retardedly smart", but I don't have the social hurdles seen on TV dramas. To describe myself in one word: Analytical
TL;DR
So smart I shit out maths
Well pretentious means affecting greater intelligence/talent than is actually possessed. So I wouldn't have said my statement was pretentious at all, it was a simple fact - I am doing a PhD in chemistry. Don't wield words you don't understand or make groundless accusations, you know nothing about me.

Now as for your statement, I would classify it as ego-maniacal. You'll notice I didn't make any assertions about my own awesomeness, where as you do. I'm not sure if it is pretentious or not, as for all I know you are that good at maths. Doesn't matter though, either way it is douchey.

Oh and in case I was understating it before; I am smart.

I think, a lot, about a wide array of things, but am pretty much unable to convey my ideas and thoughts into words. So what is really the optimal: to have simple ideas that you can easily convey or brilliant ideas that you are mostly unable to convey? I'm not saying my ideas are brilliant. Atleast not for the sake of humanity, or anyone at all really. They are more relevant to my own interests and my view of the world. I could be wrong, though. Agh, I'm too damn complex! (Cookie for the reference.)

So, basically, in my own world I'm like Einstein or something. But for you all I'm probably just an average Joe.
