It depends on the person... people who were raised under the same education system I was, yes... most likely.... I'll be a little more forgiving for others, but generally I tend to get a little disappointed with people's spelling in general.

sometimes if it looks like they just randomly mashed buttons like a monkey on a type writer.
for example I don,t mind stuff like: liek or teh but I hate stuff like fucking up basic grammar or 1337 5p34k I HATE it when people do that it makes them impossible to understand

Depends on the situation. If I'm doing a presentation and someone sends me something written in textspeak I'm going to completely write off giving that person anything important to do in future but on the internet I don't really mind.

You must be American and think English is the only language spoken in the World...
I'm american and speak french, spanish, and a little japanese. When I chat with my friends from mexico or france, I never see that kind of error consistently. Maybe a typo or mistake, but not like what he's talking about in the thread.

When I see it consistently in threads though, or on vent, or wherever, yeah it bugs me. In any language. If anything something like french or similar grammatical structures have it rough; they've got ridiculous amounts of silent letters.

I'm still mostly unfamiliar with Japanese, so I'll leave it at that.

If I have to crack open a "Texting for Dummies" to get what is written on a post, I ignore it. It's pure laziness more than anything, if you can't be bothered to use the language properly, I can't be bothered to read it. Occasional spelling mistakes are just that: occasional.

I absolutely do.

Not the occasional typo, anyone can make that mistake. I'm talking about the people who constantly misuse "there, they're and their," "your and you're," "two, too and to."

People who misspell common words like ignorant (ignarent), straight (stright, strayt) or you're (urr).

People who say "should of" as opposed to "should have." These ones are the worst. I just want to strangle every single fucking one of them!!

If you are completely incapable of expressing your opinion in a semi-intelligent and coherent way, why the hell should I take anything you say seriously?

I'm dyslexic, but I use a spell checker to make sure I'm spelling things properly.

It annoys me when certain things are spelt incorrectly, such as writing then instead of than. If I see that error, I usually either point out the error, or ignore the poster entirely.

No, I try to judge by the content of the argument.

But if their post is talking about how stupid I am, I will point out every fucking misspelled word in that ************! I can be petty.

Hmmm I'm not going to judge people because of that, but if it's something terrible that shows the person OBVIOUSLY doesn't give a crap about the way he or she writes, I just won't read it.

I tend to assess the importance of the information anyone is trying to convey by the care the person puts in communicating it.

No, or most of my friends would be dead by now.

I judge myself rather than anyone else.

If you don't know the difference between "your" and "you're" and also "their", "there" and "they're" I will make it my life's mission to make sure that you do.

That bothers me a little, especially if the poster is talking about something he claims to be knowledgeable about, but can't spell the technical terms correctly. It's never made me disregard someone though.

What does make me look down on someone is bad grammar. Not just comma splicing or whatever, I'm talking about stuff that takes a real determination not to re-read your posts. notusing full stops is the worst offender it maeks the whole sentence not readable unless you consciously go back and place one there consciously.

These kind of posts make me want to choke a *****.

it depends on the situation. With in-game chat it is practical to purposely misspell words lie coz and u, because of time limitations. I usually would judge people on spelling, especially if I know english is their native language. There is undeniably a correlation between spelling accuracy and intelligence, so it seems natural to judge people on this basis.

I don't like bad spelling. If the title of a Facebook group has a spelling error, for instance, I won't join it. But I make spelling mistakes myself, so it would be hypocritical of me to dub someone stupid from spelling errors alone.

I judge people somewhat, depending on the extent of the mistakes. If you can't be bothered to put the effort in to make your opinion appear respectable, then your opinion is likely not worth reading.

People I judge very harshly are people with bad spelling and grammar and try and excuse it by claiming they have dyslexia. As I have dyslexia myself, I know that just means you have to try even harder, it's not an excuse to stop trying altogether.

only if its bloody stupid spelling errors like saying 'teh' instead of the. complex words and similar sounding words like there which have many different meanings dependent on spelling can be forgiven as English may not be the posters 1st language.

but 'teh' is not even a word, unless you put it an a satirical sentence then you should go sit in the corner and leave the conversation to the adults.
That's a typo, not a spelling mistake. They know full well hot to spell "the", they're just typing quickly and so hit the keys in the wrong order.

Usually no, but when I read posts where 28 words out of 35 word are misspelled, and it's from the same person, I staple the person as either lazy or dumb.

Only with repeat horrible spellings. In other words only when their spelling gets in the way.
