I like it neither way, but it kinda of annoys me when other people can't enjoy it, interpreting it as an awkward moment or becoming bored and complaining about it.

I mean I could have a good time with people sitting on the deck on a nice day and talking about things with pauses throughout the conversation. I mean we don't always have to be doing something.

I like silence, but I prefer some kind of quiet background noise, like radio static, or a mass of raindrops.

Silence is fantastic. I just helps you... focus your thoughts. Ever been in a silent room in pitch darkness?
Yes, and I went insane. The cheesecake in my fridge had gotten out, and was scuttling around on the floor, looking for something to bludgeon me with.
....Then it ate my cat.

I love silence. I've heard so much face-palms and bickering in my household that silence has become one of the major things I can enjoy.

Silence would be a lot better then what I am listening to right now..."Testing, testing, 1. 2. 3."

I dislike silence. Silence always puts me in the state of mind that something is going to try and sneak up on me, which is part of the reason that Shadow of the Colossus seemed a bit unnerving to me. There was no sound apart from my character and his horse.

Sometimes I do sometimes I don't If I'm on my own a lot of the time I'll stick on the telly for a bit of noise but sometimes it really irritates me.

As long as it's not awkward. A reflective silence is always nice though.
awkward silence is terrible. sometimes i get really nervous in social situations and i cant talk and so there's just silence and its like a little preview of hell.
Awkward silences aren't that bad; its fun to watch how other people react to them. Otherwise I don't mind noise, as long as its useful noise like music or speech. The thing I can't stand is the useless drone of voices that a large group of people makes - the type that gets louder and louder as they all try to speak over one another. Its unbearable.

I have to sleep with earplugs in.. yes, it's that bad. I'm seriously getting annoyed about my street. It has tons of cars driving all the time. Busses, trucks, normal cars.. you name it. It's also the main route for drunk people who return from downtown.

Doesn't it ever happen to you that you feel uncomfortable when everything is Silent?
This basically answers the question in the topic title. It depends on the kind of silence. Sometimes I just prefer stuff to be quiet so I can chill (obviously, mostly when I go to bed), but silences can be really unconfortable as well.

Can't stand it. I'm always listening to music. Whether it be my iPod or pandora or CDs in the car. When it's silent I start thinking and I think way too deeply for my own good and end up scaring myself.

Depends in which context. On a first date it can be pretty awkward. While trying to sleep, it's preferable. Just depends.

I love silence. That means there is nothing to interrupt my thought process. I need that more than anything else in the world.

I personally can't stand random noises, especially ones generated by the blowholes of homosapians. oh, and the cpu fan in my computer. I can't sleep w/o total silence and I keep a bottle of Cricket Killer in the window box for when one of those chirpy bastards comes by hell bent on keeping me awake into the dawn hours.
