Do you read why fellow posters get put on probation?

Quite often I do this as well, mainly to see what got them in trouble and how I can avoid getting in trouble myself.

What Skywolf Said... I'm scared of the Moderator's wrath and make notes on how to avoid it. It's futile of course, soon enough I'm gonna make a post which will get me on probation. But until then, I continue to post in fear

Sometimes I do, if I have enough time to go look it up. I think its a good idea, just to learn from others mistakes, if nothing else. I always TRY to be careful about how I say things, but I got warned on this site already for something I said that got completely taken out of context. I appealed it, and the warning got taken off, but it was annoying that it even happened in the first place.

I look because it's instinct. It's mostly entertaining, not to mention helpful as it lets me know what not to say Mehh, usually they're amusing, but then you get the ones that seriously shouldn't have been said, and that's when you know 'this guy really crossed the line :\'

Really? I always end up thinking the mods are too lenient. Boy they sure give some people a ton of chances. I would have banned [insert your favourite banned ex-member here] within a week, not let him carry on with months worth of forum-damaging stupidity.

I sometimes find myself looking through threads hoping to find somebody who was put on probation so I could be nosy and see what it was for. It can be entertainig at times.

Hi everyone,

It's a really weird habit of mine. When i see that a poster is put on probation, i click the link that takes you to the post that got them in trouble and read it to see what the fuss was about. I tend to do it a lot for some reason and i certainly hope i'm not the only one!

What do you guys do?

Usually no explanation is given.

But when it says "Be more polite with your response" it's just absurdly unjustified.

Everytime. I like seeing moderation in action and seeing what gets mod attention. A few times I've disagreed with probations for other users that I've PM'd mods over.

Well ... it's kinda funny. See I've said some way out of line stuff in the heat of the moment but never really been probed for it. But I've seen some other people tell it how (as I think) it is, and get probed for their comments.

So it's pretty hard to tell the content or merit of a post really is like depending on the moderator who handed out the punishment.

But I don't go out of my way to look at people's posts if they got probed for them. Unless they are a friend, in which case I might take the effort. But generally, no. find it an exercise in pointlessness to read reported posts unless it's integral to the discussion I was having with someone else in the same topic.

I do it constantly expecting the 'evil' post to be something epic (not sure why). I'm almost always dissapointed.

That makes two of us. Either it's a post filled with more swears than verbs, or it's a single picture or .gif along the lines of 'U MAD?'

I sometimes do to find out what they did, so I avoid it happening to me.

There have been times where I've not really understood, but normally I get it. Sometimes I'm so horrified by the post that I wonder why they weren't banned forever

Yes, because I want to see where others have failed and learn from their mistakes
ok in seriousness I read them because every time I hope to see a evil/furious comment, something along the lines of "ALL PIRATES ARE SHITFACES AND I WANT TO PERSONALLY MURDER THEM AND RAPE THEIR MOTHERS" but I'm always disappointed

All the time. Usually to see if I agree with the punishment (about half and half).

It satisfies a curiosity of mine.

Yeah, I do that sometimes. Usually out of curiosity. On more than a few occasions I found myself wondering what was so bad about the post, but I guess the mods know what they're doing.

Yes, I always do it out of curiosity. Most of the time the ones I see I agree that the person deserved it. But there has been a few where I fail to see what was so bad about the post.

I do it a lot and I, normally, see good enough reasons to punish someone. What I question is how do they decide what level of punishment someone gets. I've seen someone start a thread for the complete purpose of trolling. The whole thread was him getting his jollies pissing people off. He even admitted half way through that he was a troll. He got less than a week of probation.

Then I see people do far less and get hit with more punishment. Either some mods are more lenient than others or they play favorites.
