The funny thing is that most girls I know who have ever played fighting games say DoA is their favorite franchise :p
Changed my post to reflect that xD
To be honest, this kinda reminds me of 'Girlfriend mode' where I personally believe they should've been more like Minecraft and have no gender on the character... Yet name them 'Steve' for the lols.

One-boob-up one-boob-down weirdness.
I'm not sure if that's erotic or hilarious. It can't be both, can it? I'm so confused.
I believe it's the middle of a breast enlargement? Ohno wait, isn't that like really-over-elasticated anime boobs whilst jumping?
Don't ever describe any part of the human body as "really-over-elasticated" ever again. *shudder*
I'm sorry... But it's the most non-disturbing way I could think about it.

>_< Anytime I see that I think...ouch. That looks painful, not attractive.

I don't think a lot of guys realize how much it hurts/gets in the way to have boobs bigger than your head bouncing around. It's why there is sports bras for ladies to work out with. Why some ladies with bigger boobs aren't always that active and suffering sever back issues.

I'm not sure where we went from "cool, breasts" to "this is degrading sexism and should be banned forthright and within all games!" in the last 5 years or developers having to "justify" their character design decisions to people feminists, but something went horribly horribly wrong.
Politically-correct groups discovering gaming basically, that's what happened. I could just say "Feminists" but they get offended when I say that (what doesn't offend them, really).

Now suddenly every developer has to justify "why" they made something to appeal to their target demographic, the Japanese developer already knows that the majority of their customers are males who love seeing that kind of stuff in video games. I'm willing to bet 95% of that Japanese developer studio also consists of males.

Don't play it if it offends you, express your opinion by not buying the game. If your opinion is shared by many other people, almost nobody will buy the game and the Dead Or Alive franchise will die, the developer will have to shut down.

Jesus H Christ, it's like artists aren't allowed to cater to anyone's tastes anymore without some completely other random group waving their banners and yelling "we don't like that, stop making it!".

Well, seeing as how Team Ninja has never exactly been a bastion of realistic representation of the human form, male or female, this doesn't bother me too much.

Because sometimes, I just wanna play something mindless and stupid and filled with ridiculously proportioned characters. Team Ninja provides that, and I thank them for it. I'm still confused as to why Nintendo thought it was a good idea to hand them Metroid, but whatever.

The only way something like this could ever be considered sexist against man is when a women says so.
Remember that a ?idealised? portrayal of a female body is always a male sex fantasy and therefore degrading to women while a ?idealised? athletic male body is always a male power fantasy.

Well, gaming gets more and more into the mainstream and thus has to grow the fuck up and deal with such backlash.
Well, this developer certainly dealt with the backlash didn't they :p

They basically said "STFU, because our target demographic loves this stuff" and they will simply continue to do what they do as if nothing happened. And their game will SELL, like it always has.

In a wise man's words "...and not a damn was given that day."

Extremely good point.

People are so fast in pointing japanese material as sexist against women. I wonder why these feminists never say anything about Shoujo manga where it is very hard to know who are the men and who are the women (everybody looks like women and the women designs always have small breasts).

And what about yaoi manga (illustrated porn for women involving homossexual men, and, yes, a lot of them involve rape)? Nobody says anything about that.

Chill people. Japan produces sexist material things for both genders. I will play my DOA5, and read ecchi and hentai mangas. Women have their porn, be it yaoi or 50 Shades of Grey (yeah, desirable men must be billionaries, that is much more realistic and fair than jiggle boobs).

Japan has problems with women. But I don't think the fantasy area is one of them.

Kayane is a good example: http://kayane.fr/2012/06/13/kayanes-journey-in-us-1-e3-with-ign-pro-league-and-my-dead-or-alive-experience/

I've never played a DoA game so I don't really know, but I know that typically jiggle physics are overdone and unrealistic looking. They usually move too far in one direction and bounce back too quickly. Overall they look too jerky to me like they're made out of jello. If they're done right I think they're good. But they look doubly bad when done wrong which is typically the case.

Having stiff unmoving hair looks really bad too, more than anything. There are a lot of games where characters have long hair/cloaks/etc that doesn't move at all and that just annoys me to no end.

I think many people zoom in and focus too heavily on the sexual aspect of it, when it's also about more realism and just a result of advancing technology. Jiggle physics is just another advancement like water movement, and clothing, hair, and environmental physics.

Ultimately, props to them for taking a stance instead of caving in because of some haters.

And still no super bouncy testicles. Those protein shakes don't make themselves.

Still, you got to admire a man that stands up for his cultural legacy and all that good stuff
Yeah, like those guys from the KKK, standing firm in their country's racist culture, or all those awesome people holding women down and hacking off their clitoris and sewing their vagina shut because that's how they do things in their country. Oh? Just because it's your culture doesn't mean it shouldn't change? Well hotdog!
I'm sorry, my appreciation for jiggly bits got the better of me. I can only allocate so much blood to my brain when I am such a state.

People focus on breasts because it's an obvious thing, but the fact that people focus on this stuff alone is sexist. Why are the big jiggly boobs any more sexist that the muscles on the dudes?
DoA takes the human form to it's extremes, meaning the obvious stuff like breasts are exagerated, but that's not the only thing that is exagerated in these games, it's just the convenient thing for these discussions. I mean, how long have DoA breast physics been a focal point for discussions on sexism in games? - forever, well at least since DoA volleyball.

We know! - we know that in DoA the girls have rediculous boobs, we know that they don't represent women, just like we know the big muscled dudes with chisled jaws don't represent men. I really think that a lot of women make assumptions and get the wrong idea with this stuff. I mean, we might see a DoA character, and only ever look at the jiggly boobs, but that's just it - we're appreciating the boobs, we aren't somehow confused and thinking that those boobs represent women, or womens boobs, or anything except for an exageration designed to target a deep-seeded genetic reflex that we have no control over. It's not fair to hate on men for looking at boobs, that is like men hating on women for having a period.

Besides, I always thought the most sexual fighting game character was Cammy (camel-toe Cammy) from StreetFighter, and she doesn't have big breasts at all.
Right, big breasts fulfill an obvious male fantasy. Big muscles fulfill a male power fantasy. In both cases, Team Ninja is catering to males. It's always been their business practice.
