Dragon-riding mod in 3... 2... 1...
Beat me to it. I read the title and went: "Pretty sure there is already someone thinking about modding that and / or already has a mod for it before Skyrim even launches :3"

He also talked about Skyrim's Radiant Story system, which adds random encounters to the world. He described a scenario where the player is attacked and killed by bandits on the way to a dungeon. The next time the player walked that road, it might not be bandits; instead, it might be a wizard or a hunter. He said that Radiant Story would allow people to have a unique experience with the game, without it every being obvious what was scripted and what wasn't.

"It's subtle, we don't ever want you to know or notice when you're experiencing something that's got Radiant Story," he explained. "But when you're around the watercooler the next day and everybody's talking about what they did, even if you did the same quest you'll be like 'hey wait a minute, I went to a different dungeon, which one did you go to? Mine had waterfalls.'"
I love how they're talking about a random number generator like it's a revolutionary new feature that'll change video games forever. I still plan on picking up Skyrim, I'm a big Elder Scrolls fan, but I'm really starting to get sick of all this industry bull they keep spoonfeeding us as if we're a bunch of retarded chimps.
To be far, I'm sure they realize that there are people who are intelligent and knowledgeable about games. That's not the majority of people however. When they say things like, "We'll now be adding a STORY to the game!" it's aimed at making people like this http://www.seedboxlist.com/uploads/posts/1295433445_gamer_kid_230_7jg.jpg http://media.photobucket.com/image/gamer%20douche/chrispoop/gamerdouche3.jpg
People who aren't really into games other than the experience of beating the hell out of something and teabagging noobs, which is a fairly large majority now.

So how's that lawsuit working for ya Bethesda? I've heard that it's not fairing too well on your end. Also why are dragons always painted as evil things that need to be destroyed by large muscle-bound dudes in fur and loin clothes waving massive swords around? This is probably one of the reasons why I'm hoping "Dragon's Dogma" turns out to be really good because you have a choice to actually cooperate with dragons instead of just always being sent to kill them. (Or so I've heard).

+1. Roguelikes have been using RNGs to generate unique gaming encounters since the early 80s. Are Bethesda expecting us to fall to our knees and worship them for utilising 30 year old ideas?
It's a little more complex than a random number generator.

"The game eventually logs a huge storehouse of knowledge about how you've played, and subsequently tailors content to your capabilities and experiences. Entering a city, a young woman might approach you and beg you to save her daughter from kidnappers. The game will look at the nearby dungeons you've explored, automatically set the mission in a place you've never visited, and designate opponents that are appropriately matched to your strengths and weaknesses." - Raphierp

Wait, so was someone expecting friendly dragons? I mean, I haven't seen anything even remotely hinting of that.
This ^. Seriously, people were expecting friendly dragons? I've been expecting D&D style eat your face for the fun of it dragons. I would have been upset if we COULDN'T slaughter them...

Taking a dragon to a dungeon with me didn't seem like a viable option anyway, but I was kind of hoping for the possibility to RIDE A MOTHERFUCKING DRAGON.

Still, mods...
We'll be able to freaking marry the dragons faster than anyone expects.

Shame, I Really wanted a giant flying fire-breathing lizard as my best buddy, I mean who wouldn't want that. Oh Well that means I won't feel so bad when I skin 'em for Dragon Hide Armor.

Sooo, they are gonna abandon earlier Elder Scrolls lore? Good to know.
Akaviri and Tamrielic dragons are presumably different. Seeing as these dragons do have their own tongue, I'm sure the situation is more akin to humans being too below them to bother communicating with.

Oh, I'll agree that's it's a very accomplished and highly advanced RNG, one that I am very much looking forward to seeing in action; but that doesn't detract from the fact that, advanced or not, it's still a RNG.

Damn it. And there they had me hoping you could "tame" a dragon by smacking some sense into it.

Am I the only one that cringed a little when Hines said "Radiant Story system". I would think they would avoid using that since the Radiant A.I. in oblivion got a lot of sh*t back in the day

Has anyone considered that possibility that the highest level dragon shouts may allow you to...oh, I don't know...BECOME a dragon!

Who wants a dragon buddy/companion when you can shape-shift into one?

So, Skyrim is becoming Monster Hunter Lite?
Well, I can't fault them for sticking to their guns.

Still, I have even less reason to get Skyrim if I can't play around with/as a dragon.

Couldn't they have made it possible to enslave a dragon? Chain it up, stab its eyes out and starve it till you break its spirit and it starts obeying your every command. That way they could have kept the mindless murderer angle they're going for while giving players the possibility to ride a dragon.

You're right, it's not just an over glorified random number generator. It's also got an over glorified mob scaling system built in.
