Beat me to it. I read the title and went: "Pretty sure there is already someone thinking about modding that and / or already has a mod for it before Skyrim even launches :3"Zhukov said:Dragon-riding mod in 3... 2... 1...

To be far, I'm sure they realize that there are people who are intelligent and knowledgeable about games. That's not the majority of people however. When they say things like, "We'll now be adding a STORY to the game!" it's aimed at making people like this http://www.seedboxlist.com/uploads/posts/1295433445_gamer_kid_230_7jg.jpg http://media.photobucket.com/image/gamer%20douche/chrispoop/gamerdouche3.jpgDeshin said:I love how they're talking about a random number generator like it's a revolutionary new feature that'll change video games forever. I still plan on picking up Skyrim, I'm a big Elder Scrolls fan, but I'm really starting to get sick of all this industry bull they keep spoonfeeding us as if we're a bunch of retarded chimps. He also talked about Skyrim's Radiant Story system, which adds random encounters to the world. He described a scenario where the player is attacked and killed by bandits on the way to a dungeon. The next time the player walked that road, it might not be bandits; instead, it might be a wizard or a hunter. He said that Radiant Story would allow people to have a unique experience with the game, without it every being obvious what was scripted and what wasn't.
"It's subtle, we don't ever want you to know or notice when you're experiencing something that's got Radiant Story," he explained. "But when you're around the watercooler the next day and everybody's talking about what they did, even if you did the same quest you'll be like 'hey wait a minute, I went to a different dungeon, which one did you go to? Mine had waterfalls.'"
It's a little more complex than a random number generator.Grouchy Imp said:+1. Roguelikes have been using RNGs to generate unique gaming encounters since the early 80s. Are Bethesda expecting us to fall to our knees and worship them for utilising 30 year old ideas?Deshin said:I love how they're talking about a random number generator like it's a revolutionary new feature that'll change video games forever. "The game eventually logs a huge storehouse of knowledge about how you've played, and subsequently tailors content to your capabilities and experiences. Entering a city, a young woman might approach you and beg you to save her daughter from kidnappers. The game will look at the nearby dungeons you've explored, automatically set the mission in a place you've never visited, and designate opponents that are appropriately matched to your strengths and weaknesses." - Raphierp
This ^. Seriously, people were expecting friendly dragons? I've been expecting D&D style eat your face for the fun of it dragons. I would have been upset if we COULDN'T slaughter them...Wuggy said:Wait, so was someone expecting friendly dragons? I mean, I haven't seen anything even remotely hinting of that.
Akaviri and Tamrielic dragons are presumably different. Seeing as these dragons do have their own tongue, I'm sure the situation is more akin to humans being too below them to bother communicating with.Nikolaz72 said:Sooo, they are gonna abandon earlier Elder Scrolls lore? Good to know.
Oh, I'll agree that's it's a very accomplished and highly advanced RNG, one that I am very much looking forward to seeing in action; but that doesn't detract from the fact that, advanced or not, it's still a RNG.leahzero said:It's a little more complex than a random number generator.Grouchy Imp said:+1. You're right, it's not just an over glorified random number generator. It's also got an over glorified mob scaling system built in.leahzero said:It's a little more complex than a random number generator.Grouchy Imp said:+1.
