Must... pre-order Skyrim now. DLC that will be worth buying.
To me it seems like more reason to wait for goty.
I was originally planning on waiting just because I figure it will take them that long to get it working anyway.
This. There's always a Game of the Year version of these games.

May as well await it. I didn't enjoy being shafted for buying Fallout 3 soon after release then discovering I would either have to pay for or go without DLC that came for free with the limited (read: actually extremely easy to obtain) edition Game of the Year version.

Then again, I'm not sure companies that pull the fast one on consumers to pull extra funds out of their wallets deserve the quick profits that allow Game of the Year Editions to come out in the first place. So I'll just wait this one out, or not buy it at all. I don't care how good it is, sometimes a sacrifice should be made for the good of the industry or it'll just continue to spiral into commercialism and downright Hollywood-like behaviour.
To be fair, Bethesda usually gives you your money's worth but there's defcinitely a George Lucas effect going on there. Its predictable enough that you know that you can save yourself $50 by waiting about a year.
It is one of those things that makes me wonder if we're ever going to see another new retail title that has as much content as San Andreas ever again.

There needs to be an easter egg in the game.

You go to the Horse Breeder to purchase a horse, and he has a dialogue option called "Horse Armor.". You press it and he's like "We'll, just give me your credit card number and I'll take care of the rest."

As many people have alluded to, what's the difference between the horse armor and tf2 hats? Both are cosmetic and have no effect on the gameplay (excluding the hats that are part of outfits, of course)?

I'm expecting a Shivering Isles-style expansion pack. Maybe in Elsweyr?
The elder scrolls don't work that way. Elsweyr would be another whole game, as it is a province. We'll probably get an island ala bloodmoon or a deadric realm.

I am surprised at some of the reactions in this thread. The armor seemed pointless and not worth my money, good riddance, hopefully we will get more expansion pack DLC instead or at least items that are actually worth buying.

I for one enjoy the concept behind the DLCs that give you houses, my only complaint is that I wish a bit more story was put into them. I mean, for the Fighter's Stronghold and Thieve's Den DLCs, it's just a matter of clearing out some baddies and then buying a few upgrades to make it a proper house and then some. Wizard's Tower and Vile Lair didn't even require you to fight anything.

I also don't really like the more minimal DLC packs. Horse Armor is barely a thought in my mind of course, but I've only ever found 2 Spell Tomes in the time I've had that DLC, and while the Orrery looks cool, it doesn't do all that much for me.

That said, I highly enjoyed playing through the Mehrunes' Razor quest, giant dungeon full of cool items and large, interesting areas? That's DLC done right, I hope we can see DLC of its quality for Skyrim.
Something tells me that you didn't find the secret of the Fighter Stronghold. Go to one of the torches in the main bedroom and unlock the secret closest. There is a note to start a quest. I was very fond of what I found in the basement...

If the DLC is like Morrowinds, then Hell you could release one and I'd be happy.
THERE IS NO DLC FOR MORROWIND *runs away crying*
YES THERE IS. Bethesda made 8 official mods for Morrowind. Mostly they're really small, some even smaller than the horse armour DLC; but they're totally free and can provide a little amusement. (Hailing fireball arrows at enemies is mega-fun.)

They've been collected here: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=mods.detail&id=5987

It just struck me, how long do you think it will be before someone does a My Little Pony mod, changing all the horses to MLP characters?.
0.000000000000000001 seconds before they start, plus 2 hours for them to implement it, and five minutes to upload it.

So Skyrim Launch + 02:05:0.000000000000000001. Exactly.

I did find that actually, and while it was nice and interesting it was more of an easter egg than anything (doesn't even show up on the quest log).

I wonder what horses will be turned into which ponies. If it's the same horses that are in Oblivion I'd bet money on Black = Rainbow Dash (fastest) and White = Applejack (strongest) but I'm not sure for the others.

Captcha: structural qAiref. I don't think that second world has much structure to it.

I wonder if we're going to be able to overhear conversations talking about things you've done in the previous Elder Scrolls. It would be wild to hear people tell tales of the wipe out of nearly all of members of the Dark Brotherhood or something like that.

I meant that once they are done releasing the dlc they make a goty version with it all along with the main game included on the same disc. Ill have to buy it twice but I still prefer that to dlc.

Im just sick of my hard drive getting filled up T_T
Can't you just put a bigger hard drive in? Drives are as cheap as a very cheap thing these days. I don't do consoles so I'm not totally sure how it's done, but don't they just use regular HDDs?

Woa woa woa guys, calm down!!!!

Toddy boy didn't say anything about no horse armour, he said no horse armour DLC ;)

There will definately be horse armour in the standard game, why wouldn't there be, everyone knows they would lose a lot of game sales without it...

It'd be great if Skyrim got an expansion with a similar amount of content to The Shivering Isles.
That expansion pack was essentially an entire new game.

Fewer, larger expansions with more content? Sounds like a step back in time. Sounds like a good step. Man I miss expansion packs which added like an extra 30% content. Hopefully we'll have another Shivering Isles-esque expansion, but we'll have to see.

And why can't it be the 11th of November tomorrow?

Captcha is now using three words?
