Why Anime? Why not real animation?
Anime IS real animation.
To each their own.. But when it's 3 frames for someone talking, people flying into the sky to sword fight, or the lack of real backgrounds in favor of lasers and other flashy chaos, I call it lazy animation.
So, to sum up, you've seen... what anime, exactly? Or did you just see some parody flash animations, chuckle to yourself, and then assume you know the medium in full? Case in point; try fitting the works of Studio Ghibli or Gonzo into your framework.

I don't see how you make an anime out of "Kill X of X for X", but if it turns out alright then that's good for EA.

I was all set to say "this sounds pretty cool" until the word "FUNimation" popped into view. EA should just ask a group of sixth graders to make the anime. It'll be the same quality but much cheaper to produce.

Why anime? What, are western animation styles just not good enough anymore?

Speaking of which, when was the last time any of us saw an adult, animated title come out that wasn't labeled as anime?

Well, maybe. Just maybe. They might want to look at partnering with a Japanese producer just to get the style and quality down right.
Dante's inferno was made "with the creative teams behind Ergo proxy, ghost in the shell and samurai champloo" So thats not the problem.

Its just the same as video game movie tie ins they mainly suck

*shakes his head in dismayed annoyance* EA, no. Just no. I don't want to see dodgy under age 6 year olds battling darkspawn whilst the girls end up exposing more than a soho hooker.

Animation, fair enough; Anime, NO.

I can see the styles clashing pretty heavily. Tokleinesque fantasy isn't something that would really lend itselt to an anime art style. That's just a presumption of course.
I thought there was an anime LotR film. May have been just western animation though...

OT: I want to see what choices they make. More importantly, I wonder what they omit and which characters get the shaft. Honestly, I don't see them using Sten, Levi (DLC guy), the dwarf traders, or maybe even Ohgren (sp? He's the dwarf party member). Leaving out Ohgren would make me sad though...
Then, if they have bad animators it will all just fall apart.

My current music choice (Highway to Hell) fits interestingly with the story.
If this doesn't work, the fans will drag EA down the highway (egad, a failed attempt at being clever, take cover!)

This begs the question... Can Morrigan be even more annoying if instead of being a total femcan she starts yelling "KAWAII DESU NE?!?!?!" and suffering from "accidental" pantyshots?

Well, we'll see. Since I stopped watching Captain Tsubasa at around the age of 6, my every attempt at watching anime ended in a dispirited "well... maybe next year". So I don't think I'll like the final product. But if it doesn't affect the games in any way, hell, what do I care?

Or skip trying to do something trite and just make a very good animated feature instead of trying to make an anime. By stating they are going for an arbitrary style goal instead of talking about how they are going to make a feature based on plot.

I'd have preferred to read animated feature or movie rather than Anime. Seems like they will just go for cheap style aesthetic and quick release...

This could work. The 'Dragon World' (can we call it that plz?) is certainly an interesting setting. Consider me cautiously intrigued.

mmm...If you guys don't mind me asking, who wanted this? Seriously, was there ANY demand for anything like this? I dunno...loved the game, in fact love just about everything bioware makes, but I don't think this will be for me. This has the smell of "EA wringing a series for money" all over it.

What about Record of the Lodoss War and Berserk?
Better yet, what about Claymore? That was some dark medievil gore right there.

I do find it hilarious that games - who's fanbase hates anime - get an anime adaptation. First Halo, now Dragon Age Origin.
