It could be good...maybe...I hope.

I do remember seeing some sketchs of Alistair and Morrigan talking in Manga style, before Morrigan makes her offer to you near the endgame. It was written for a female PC whose in love with Alistair, it was really touching and help humanized Morrigan as she tried to work out how to save her friend (the PC) and realized the only way was to have Alistair sleep with her.

Can't find the link...

Weeeeeeeeeeell... If they hire professional Japanese anime artists and go with the seinen genre... I might have a nerdgasm.
I second that, I'd be interested to see this.

Fucking hell. This news makes me angrier than a Spanish Bull. Why don't you just shoot my parents next time EA? It will probably sting less.

Well, I'm interested to see how it turns out... and I'd probably watch it just like I would the Mass Effect movie to see for myself how it was done. I am expecting the worst, and the fact it may be a waste of a few hours is prevalent in my mind.

However, if it sucks, you could just... you know, forget it ever existed. It wont hamper your ability to enjoy DA:O.

Personally, I'm hoping that they get some seriously good authors working on some Dragon Age books. The story and setting could be on par with Lord of the Rings (though never quite as good as it), and I would love to see Peter Jackson and Weta Workshop make a live action Dragon Age movie.

Let's just hope that as more good video game movies come out, and the spread of good video game literature rises, we'll be able to see this accepted by more of the general populace.

I really, REALLY hope they get Yoshiaki Kawajiri to do this, since he's the only one with a some kind of grasp on gritty western fantasy ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRMWoWZxo60 ). I suspect, though, that EA figures if it's animated in the japanese style, it'll automatically be well received and that's all the thought and effort they'll need to put into it :/

I would like to put The Venture Bros forward as great North American style animation. The writing is top shelf, the style sharp and vibrant, and the voice actors are all pros. There is good western animation out there, you just gotta leave the major networks to find it.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the art and animation of Venture Brothers--like the majority of North American animated series--is outsourced to Korean studios to cut down costs (Jackson and Hammer mention this frequently on the DVD commentaries). They are working off storyboards from the creators/producers, but the animating is done as piecework in East Asian countries.

Ah well there ya go, I can't argue with that. What I would say though, is that even if it is animated in asia, it's still north american in it's approach to story telling and comedy. And in my estimation, that makes it a western cartoon. The same way that Nike may be maunfactured in the Philipines, but it's still an american shoe company.

I can see the styles clashing pretty heavily. Tolkeinesque fantasy isn't something that would really lend itselt to an anime art style. That's just a presumption of course.
What about Record of the Lodoss War and Berserk?
Don't forget Claymore, there was even lesbian sexual tension, just like the last time I made a female character.

I wonder why they chose Funimation to produce it, when they haven't made a single anime. Would've preferred it if an established studio like Production I.G. took up the task.
True, that would guarantee a purchase from me, because I'm a complete Ghost In The Shell fanboy.

Anyways, if there's enough character development and bloody fighting, just like Claymore, I'll watch it. Just as long as they do each origin story in a season. If I know EA, that would be a good way to milk it. So, they'll probably do it.

haha FUNimation. Well it's doomed.

Why? outside of 'Never having made an anime so much as dubbed them' they made long strides to become a better company since the early 90's.

Way back when yeah they were as bad as 4kids but recently there one of the leaders in bringing anime to the english speaking audiences professionally translated.

I agree--I'm a huge fan of series like Exo-Squad, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Samurai Jack that are obviously inspired and informed by anime, but with a clear Western perspective. We can only hope Dragon Age follows suit.

Wow just wow. Most of the responses cannot be serious. DA would make a fine anime series or a movie. Why? Because there is a whole world of lore they can explore. They aren't going to be locked into a specific time or event like they were with both Dante's inferno or Dead Space. They have a whole freakin planet filled with magic and dragons. A world full of history that was hardly even touched through the game. The game explored what 2 weeks of X many characters and the minimal impact they had on a few events? If this is the best a collective gamer's imagination can come up with then it is no wonder that we aren't seeing what people like Yahtzee, Moviebob and James are crying for. It isn't them that can't make it. It is us as a whole telling them we can't handle it.

Oh and for the record if the anime is the best anime of all time or the worst piece of crap ever IT WON"T EFFECT THE QUALITY OF THE FUCKING GAME!!!! IT WONT MAKE IT ANY BETTER OR ANY WORSE THAN IT IS.
