So why oh why cant Bioware do this in Mass Effect. Fantasy setting sure you can have same sex relationships but you SciFi setting game, no you can have it D: Why bioware, why doesn't Mass Effect get no same sex love but you can throw aliens at us to love?
You just want your Male Shepard to go with Garrus or Jacob?
Or how about you Female Shepard with Tali or Liara, Miranda?
Actually.....

Dragon Age: Origins pretty much had you create a character. Mass Effect has a foundation of a pre-designed character. Aka, hetrosexual
Firstly: "Aka, hetrosexual". What? Also known as heterosexual?

Secondly: Heterosexual... except if Shepard is female, because then it's okay to be gay or bi. Just ask Liara, Samara or Kelly.

And just so you don't bring up the gender issue for asari, I'll point out right away that...

1) Asari are not non-gendered. They are mono-gendered. They have one gender, and it's female.

2) Regardless of what the asari would consider themselves, gender-wise, they are female from a human's perspective... and Shepard is human.

And, finally...

Now before someone mentions female shephard romances with Asari (Liara, Morinth, Samara), they have been portrayed as having some sort of special sexual influence on other species.
Kelly Chambers. Human.

Really, let's be honest:

The only reason MaleShep can't be gay is because they don't want to risk scaring off the stereotypically homophobic Halo crowd.

I need to start paying attention to this series...

on focus: this is good news. it's nice to see that even a major gaming company like Bioware isn't buckling under the weight of vapid, whinging, bitchy retards that seem to crawl out of the fucking ocean to ***** and complain whenever a game shows bare skin.

Kelly Chambers. Human, Never has sex with FemShep

please tell me you can see the irony of that last part.

Besides Halo 3
Halo 3 (8.1 million copies)

So about double the number of people played halo 3 then compared to ME and ME2 combined
Thats a lot of Halo player that never cared or purchased any Mass effect game.

I want to see more games like DA:O where romance is optional, but not required to complete the game. Not only that, but romances aren't restricted to purely this or that depending on the player's gender and who they're talking to. It definitely adds some interesting twists when a character you thought was uninterested randomly asks "What about me?" when they found out you spent the night with someone else. It's a dimension that hasn't been touched on quite as intimately in past games despite having highly sexualized characters.

Kudos for BioWare for taking a mature approach to a topic that makes people cringe and have to think.

I totally forgot about her.

In that case: Sign us up!

Not that it matters to me personally. I have pursued relationship with Kelly as female Shepard before, but i wouldn't be interested in male S/S. With that said, i wouldn't object if the devs decided to give the option.

Intercourse irrelevant. The flirting back and forth, the date, and the whole show in Shepard's quarters is more than enough to establish an attraction as canonical.

Not to mention that sex could be interpreted as implied, just as with... well... all other love interests in ME2.

Total sales also irrelevant. It's been no secret that BioWare has made attempts to attract fans of first and third-person shooters to Mass Effect. Trying to appeal to a demographic doesn't mean that you manage to attract the entirety of it.

I have no problem with that as long as it remains just that, optional. Also props for quoting Trudeau, he is the one Prime Minister I truly respect.

Does this mean I can get in a lesbian threeway with the female characters of the game like in the first one, or was that one guy just lying to us all?

My Kaidan-romancer actually ended up going with Kelly. It was too late to get anywhere when I realized that Thane was the only romance option for FemShep that I had any interest in pursuing, so I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that there at least was someone for my Shep after the suicide mission.

Now, though, with ME3 finally announced... I'm conflicted about whether I should let her cheat on Kaidan or not. On the one hand, Kaidan's really sweet and doesn't deserve that, but on the other it could potentially be interesting to explain to him how "I" ended up cheating on him with a girl woman.

They need to do something about their cheating thing, I cheated on liara and all I got was one line of flak from her and then she's all like"I want you to be happy". Whatever man, that's not how it happens in the real world, but then again I don't know much about how asari deal with cheating.

And the demographic of shooting games hate gays?

And you don't see the problem with that sterotypical idea, I'm im guessing you played ME so you must like shooter games must you now be homophobic too.

Being a man, I naturally only did the female on female gay romances. All I can say is: good, and hawwwt. I want to be able to bang a female qunari in the third game though. Mmmm tiefling goodness.

That being said, it's not gay if it's with an elf. Also his lines are easily the best out of every other party member in the game. Aharr, pirate Zevran reporting for duty! Prepare to be boarded!

Had me laughing every time.

They also see no point in inculding homosexual romances for the sake of having them. WHich the social forums seem to think is a bad thing.

You have fun with your straw man, and get back to me when you can put forth a proper argument.

EDIT: Or, you know, don't get back to me at all.
