maybe this will kill the "gritty realistic shooters" trend? one can only hope
With this and bullet storm coming out, I sorta hope so. I'm just getting sick of serious FPS games. Where are the just plain ridiculous good'ole shooters at.

Hey I won't deny that it'll be a big deal, but to say that ALL gamers will be involved?

Bit of a pipe dream really, isn't it?
Hey, everyone's gonna be alive during May 3rd, aren't they?
Well... no, actually. Between now and May 3rd many many many people who are alive today will have died. Besides- merely being alive does not make you part of something.

I hear way too many people complaining that we don't have any games to replace the "DNF will never come out" meme. Last time I checked, we are still waiting for Half-Life 2: Episode 3. We ALREADY have a replacement.

You get the point. Every gamer who's alive on May 3rd and 6th will be part of a historic day, game wise. They will have been alive where the legend of Duke Nukem Forever becomes honest to God reality.

I hate you for reminding me. I am now sad.

I'll believe it when I see it. And then I'll borrow it from a friend of mine because I don't wanna have to pay for it.

I think I'm going to cry, out off pure happiness. no for seriousness I seen it a few month's back in holland at the first look event. but I think that they should wait longer to bring it out (yes longer damned) I want to still play that game 12 years from now and still enjoy it, develop it, develop it again and again and again till its bloody perfect. I waited 12 years for this I can wait some more.

Wait? What? How?

Well, I guess I will be waiting anxiously... Forgive me for not circling it on my calender. I have done that a few times before.

Been doing that for 14 years.

Gearbox bought up the rights to the franchise and employed the 8 ex-3DR guys to finish the game.

Money, a good lawyer, and the fact Gearbox's CEO, Randy Pitchford, worked on Duke 3D before going off to start Gearbox.

It's kinda ironic that doing jack shit for over a decade gets you the best PR ever, but oh well.
Let's just hope that it will be actually good.

It's not that they weren't doing anything, it's that the technological boom and the graphics race hit them hard for 10 years. With so few people working on the game and graphics speeding ever forward, they just couldn't keep up. The only reason they managed to get this version done is because we actually slowed down for a second before making the graphical bar be raised to much higher standards than a few years ago.

That, combined with George Broussard being very critical of the game itself so as to avoid flaws, led to what those without deductive reasoning call "Doing jack shit for 10 years".

Somehow the new trailer made me feel hyped for the game for... well, the first time ever.

Just the "no holding back" attitude, and the seemingly destructible terrain.

My prediction: this game is either going to be awful and remembered for generations to come as the biggest blunder the industry ever managed to crap out, or its going to be the best game in the last five years and praised for being more than worth the wait.
Oh, good. Now you just need to also predict that it could be an average game that gets bought by some people, but ultimately wanders off into obscurity and you've got all your bases covered.

I'm gonna miss the days of being able to laugh when I saw stories, articles and videos(Yahtzee's most notably) lambasting Duke Nukem Forever and how it was coming Never. But now I and everyone else will actually be able to play the game so Im okay with that
